We booked the largest suite for 5 nights many months in advance because we were traveling as a family, with elders. We called in prior to inquire about accessibility. The front desk staff assured us all would be well; it was not. The good, bad, and ugly of our stay. Good: The abbaye is beautifully situated with sweeping views. The service was mixed at best, but Marie-Claire who oversees breakfast service was a stand out staff member who genuinely cares. The maid service was good and consistent. Bad: The rooms were not as advertised. The air conditioning was not effective. We slept with open windows . The beds were not comfortable. The bed linens are poor quality; fine for 2-stars but not 4-star. There is no shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom and no electrical outlets. The shower sprays hot and cold without warning and the handle for the water is burning hot, as in second degree burn your skin off hot. The swimming pool is lined with plastic with no steps to access, just a ladder. Ugly: There is a gentleman at the front desk who incessantly and obsessively tries to up sell you on dining and services without listening to a word you say. He pushed my mother in law to climb an extremely old, winding staircase and when she said how scared she was he dismissed her and pushed her to reserve for dinner. Rude! He failed to show us around our room or explain how things worked which matters in a 900 year old place. We will not be back.

Firstly, what an amazing location, stunning views, but the access road was challenging with a low slung sports car. The room was a decent size with ok but only mid range amenities. Reception were very good and very helpful, but we were ignored for ages when trying to get a drink after a long journey. Very good dinner with some unusual menu choices, green olive custard on a desert was a first for me, but surprisingly it worked! Overall the property needs maintenance, there was peeling paint that was very obvious in the dining room and it had clearly been like that for a while. The bathroom was clean, but there were some balls of dust on the floor of the bedroom. A little bit of TLC and this hotel could be wonderful.

Beautiful location and beautiful building, which was let down by an uncleaned swimming pool. We were looking forward to going for a swim and when we arrived at the pool, it was covered in all sorts of debris. I can’t fault the food, we really enjoyed the cuisine. For the price, I don’t think we would return

You had to climb to take spiral staircases to get to the bedroom. They were too narrow for my luggage. I left after one night and the staff was not helpful in curing a new room. Fortunately, I had traveled to the area before and was able to book a room in a wonderful hotel not far away. The facility has a lot of potential, but it needs a makeover and all rooms should be accessible .

Beautiful abbey which has modern fittings but still retains its beauty and history. Really comfortable stay, plenty of room and lovely balcony which we didn't use because of the rain. Large and modern bathroom that is beautifully decorated. Breakfast quite expensive and not sure if it is value for money. The restaurant is popular, with great views but we unfortunately didn't try it. Swimming Pool was fantastic and not crowded as most people are hiking or touring the region. Staff and Manager especially was very friendly and polite and always helped us when needed. They also have a football table and chess room which was an added bonus! Driving back at night is a bit tricky with a large car but not a problem as they have numerous car parking spaces.

The property is fantastic. The view of the surrounding area is incredible and the idea of taking an old monastery and turning into a hotel was a great one! The pool is beautiful as well. The issues are the air conditioning doesn't work. The units are run off of a central chiller system which is clearly not functioning. Due to high costs they likely aren't fixing it. Two other couples and myself had the exact same experience of no air conditioning in 3 different rooms. I wouldn't have seen this as a major issue but the day time highs were in the 35*C range leading to a very warm room even overnight with the window open. The refrigerator in my room also did not work. The restaurant was nice and although breakfast was great, we had an unexplained issue at dinner, ultimately resulting in a 4 hour dinner seating. Further to this my protein was apparently more undercooked than I thought as I was sick for many days after. While the staff at the hotel are very friendly and do their best, it appears that capital reinvestment is minimal. They seem to be lacking clear guiding principles regarding guest experience that need to be regularly shared with the staff. Unfortunate on the whole as the pricing does not justify the experience.

The hotel is located inside an old restored abbey. The location is stunning but not readily accessible through the autoroute. In other words, you have to know it is there and once you are there, you are there. Fortunately, the hotel has a restaurant and a nice breakfast buffet. The rooms are furnished in a more classic style with a complete bathroom. Don’t expect anything modern here. This is a higher standard line of hotels ideal for special celebrations.
