We had a fantastic stay at La Folie Douce in Chamonix. The location is excellent—just a short walk from the town centre and with easy access to the slopes, making it the perfect base for exploring the area. The hotel has everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay, with great facilities and a lively atmosphere. The rooms were comfortable, and the overall experience exceeded our expectations. What really made our stay special was the staff. Every member of the team was friendly, welcoming, and incredibly helpful throughout our visit. They always went out of their way to assist with any questions or requests and made us feel genuinely valued as guests. Now that we have stayed at this hotel in Chamonix we wouldnt go to another one and would highly recommend La Folie Douce to anyone visiting Chamonix.

We booked 2 rooms. 1 room had a loose sink faucet that was repaired but the loose toilet was never fixed. The lighting in that Room 541 was bad. Neither Room 541 and 542 had a chair to sit in to read or change clothes or sit somewhere other than the bed. When we checked in the receptionist never mentioned the rail pass or discounted bus tickets. Overall for the prices it did not meet expectations or high standards.

The room was very minimal. Sort of like a youth hostel. It’s nicely located near restaurants and shops and the views of Mt. Blanc are spectacular from that side of the hotel. It doesn’t have air conditioning and because Chamonix is getting warmer like the rest of the planet, which means sleeping in summer months with the windows open. That was problematic for us because there was quite a bit of noise from people below until the wee hours of the night (1:30 am). We asked the front desk if they could say something to one hotel room adjacent to ours but either they didn’t do it or it was ineffective. Chamonix is spectacular however.

Room was basic but perfect for two nights! DJ and singers were amazing in the evening and the location of the hotel was perfect. They didn’t warn us that there was a £200 deposit when you get to the hotel and they only accepted a physical card, so make sure you have this as you could get very stuck.
