More about hotels in Guatemala
Choose an urban or northern Guatemala stay
Guatemala City and the northern Petén region serve different parts of a Guatemala itinerary. The capital provides an urban accommodation base, while Petén brings lake and forest surroundings into the stay. Choose the overnight destination around the days you want to spend there.
Guatemala City for an urban base
Guatemala City hotels suit a stay centred on the capital. The city's numbered zones are useful location details: a business-district address and a property chosen for the historic centre need not serve the same plans.
Choose the relevant part of the city before comparing room categories. A capital-city hotel should be selected for the urban stay you intend, rather than as a substitute for accommodation in a different region.
Petén for a lake and forest setting
Petén accommodation offers a different northern base. Properties around Lake Petén Itzá can make the lake landscape part of the holiday, while other addresses serve towns or more secluded surroundings.
Keep the actual location in view: a lake-area hotel is not necessarily inside an archaeological site or directly on the shore. If your journey includes both the capital and Petén, choose accommodation for each stop rather than expecting one address to cover both.
