We absolutely loved our stay in Wale Walanda. We stayed for 3 nights and very much enjoyed our hosts' hospitality. The place is very special, cottages are built on small ponds with a lot of colorful waterlilies. The interior of the restaurant is very nicely decorated and there are tons of plants and flowers, which adds to the ambiance. :) The host was very nice and helpful. We absolutely loved the breakfast pancakes, which were according to their own recipe and just yummy! If you are coming to the Tomohon area, this is definitely a great place to stay 🩷❤️

Local Etiquette & Safety in East Lembean

Understanding local customs is key to a respectful and enjoyable visit to East Lembean. While generally relaxed, Indonesians value politeness and consideration. A common practice is to use the right hand for giving and receiving items, especially food, and to avoid pointing with a single finger; instead, use an open hand. In more traditional areas, dressing modestly, particularly when visiting religious sites or rural villages, is highly recommended to show respect for local culture.

When visiting East Lembean, maintaining respectful behaviour is paramount. Dress codes are generally casual, but it's advisable to cover shoulders and knees when entering homes or places of worship. Always ask permission before taking photographs of people, especially in more remote villages. Queue culture is not as strictly observed as in some Western countries, so patience is often required. Being mindful of these nuances will ensure positive interactions with the local community.

For practical safety in East Lembean, travellers should exercise common sense, similar to any international destination. Keep valuables secure and be aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded markets.
