Awalnya cari2 villa di nusa penida yang design nya Sandat gitu dan ketemu lah sama villa ini. It really recommended villa for you guys if you go to nusa penida. The ambience was so clear and nice. Cocok buat liburan, honeymoon, etc. The room decoration is so whitey and clean. And also the bathroom with outdoor concept. Love it so much with the decoration. Feels so homey and comfortable ♥️ For breakfast there only have 3 menus and we have to choose the menu at the night before. Overall I had great experience and memorable in this place, wanna go back someday if I trip to nusa penida again😍 thank you traveloka to offer the best price👏

Initially, I booked this hotel without expecting anything because the price was very cheap, but it turned out the room was very clean, the toilet was clean, the bed, pillows, blankets, towels were all clean (the bed was very soft and comfortable, I slept very comfortably without waking up). The guard was very friendly. It's near the roadside but not really on the main road so it's not noisy. We got breakfast in the morning, we chose our breakfast, and it turned out the food was very delicious. The AC was also very cold.

More about hotels in Nusa Island

Discovering Nusa Island: An Indonesian Archipelago Escape

For travellers seeking an authentic slice of Indonesian island life, Nusa Island presents a compelling alternative to the more established tourist hubs. This archipelago, a short hop from Bali, offers a distinct charm, characterized by dramatic cliffside vistas, vibrant underwater worlds, and a more laid-back pace. Unlike the bustling metropolises of Java or the well-trodden paths of Bali, Nusa Island provides a raw, natural beauty that appeals to those looking to disconnect and explore. Its unique geological formations and rich marine biodiversity create a landscape that feels both ancient and alive, promising an adventure that resonates deeply with the spirit of exploration.

The true allure of Nusa Island lies in its internal diversity, with each of its main islands offering a unique character. Nusa Lembongan, the most developed, provides a comfortable base with a good range of amenities and stunning beaches. Nusa Penida, the largest and most rugged, is a retreat for adventurers, boasting dramatic viewpoints and challenging terrain. Nusa Ceningan, the smallest, connects to Lembongan by a picturesque yellow bridge and offers a more tranquil, bohemian vibe. Understanding these distinctions is crucial, as choosing where to stay within Nusa Island will fundamentally shape your entire travel experience, from the activities available to the overall atmosphere.

When considering the value proposition for international travellers, Nusa Island shines. With a starting price point around ₱ 236.77 per night for basic accommodations, it offers exceptional affordability compared to many global destinations. Even mid-range options, such as those found near Nusa Lembongan Beach or Broken Beach, typically fall within a very accessible price bracket for Western, Indian, and African travellers. This affordability allows for extended stays, more exploration, and a deeper immersion into the local culture without the financial strain often associated with island getaways, making it a smart choice for budget-conscious yet experience-seeking visitors.

The accommodation landscape across Nusa Island is as varied as its topography, with options ranging from charming guesthouses to luxurious resorts. Nusa Lembongan, for instance, is home to properties like Mahagiri Resort Nusa Lembongan, offering a comfortable retreat with excellent amenities, while D'Camel Hotels Lembongan provides a more budget-friendly yet well-regarded option. Nusa Penida, on the other hand, features a growing number of villas and boutique hotels catering to those seeking privacy and stunning natural surroundings. This diverse array ensures that travellers can find the perfect place to book hotel stays that align with their preferences and budget.

Nusa Island appeals to a broad spectrum of international travellers. For those from the United States, its rugged natural beauty and opportunities for adventure, such as diving and exploring hidden beaches, will be a significant draw. European travellers often seek cultural immersion and natural landscapes, both of which Nusa Island delivers in abundance, with its unique traditions and breathtaking scenery. Indian travellers will appreciate the relative affordability, the availability of diverse culinary options, and the ease of access from major hubs. While direct travel from Africa might be less common, the island's appeal lies in its exoticism and the promise of a truly different travel experience, offering a unique escape.

Best Areas to Stay in Nusa Island

Nusa Island, a captivating Indonesian archipelago, offers a diverse range of experiences across its distinct islands and neighbourhoods. For international visitors, understanding these areas is key to crafting the perfect itinerary, as each locale provides a unique atmosphere, from bustling hubs to serene retreats. Choosing your base wisely will significantly influence your access to attractions, dining, and the overall vibe of your island adventure, making this a crucial first step in planning your trip.

Nusa Lembongan

Nusa Lembongan is the most developed of the three main islands, offering a blend of accessibility and island charm that appeals to a wide range of international travellers. It’s a popular choice for those seeking a balance between relaxation and activity, with a good selection of restaurants, dive shops, and stunning viewpoints. Travellers from the US and Europe often find its laid-back atmosphere and well-maintained infrastructure particularly inviting, while those from India might appreciate its relative ease of navigation and the availability of familiar comforts alongside local experiences.

This island is a hub for water sports and scenic exploration. Visitors can easily access popular spots like Dream Beach and Mushroom Bay, or embark on diving and snorkeling trips to nearby marine sites. Mahagiri Resort Nusa Lembongan and D'Camel Hotels Lembongan are well-situated to explore these attractions. Getting to Nusa Lembongan typically involves a fast boat from mainland Bali, a journey that takes around 30-45 minutes. Once on the island, scooters are the primary mode of transport, offering freedom to explore at your own pace. You can book attractions and tours directly from many beachfront establishments.

Nusa Penida

Nusa Penida, the largest and most dramatic of the islands, is a magnet for adventurous souls and nature enthusiasts. Its rugged terrain, towering cliffs, and pristine, often secluded beaches offer a sense of raw, untamed beauty. This island is ideal for travellers who prioritize breathtaking landscapes and are willing to navigate less developed infrastructure for unparalleled views and unique experiences. US and European travellers seeking dramatic scenery and off-the-beaten-path exploration will feel right at home, while those from India might find its natural grandeur a refreshing contrast to more urbanized travel. Use Traveloka to book your hotel — book hotel.

The island is renowned for iconic landmarks such as Kelingking Beach, Broken Beach, and Angel's Billabong, which offer spectacular photo opportunities and a chance to connect with nature. Accommodation ranges from simple guesthouses to more luxurious villas like Maua Nusa Penida Bali, catering to different budgets. Reaching Nusa Penida involves a fast boat from Bali, similar to Lembongan, but the island itself requires more time to traverse due to its size and road conditions. Renting a motorbike or hiring a car with a driver is recommended for exploring its many wonders.

Nusa Ceningan

Nusa Ceningan, connected to Nusa Lembongan by a distinctive yellow bridge, offers a more tranquil and bohemian atmosphere. It's a favourite among travellers seeking a quieter escape, with beautiful blue lagoons, charming cafes, and a relaxed vibe. This island is perfect for those who enjoy a slower pace, perhaps spending their days swimming in natural pools or enjoying sunset views from cliffside bars. It appeals to a diverse international crowd, including couples and solo travellers from the US and Europe looking for a peaceful retreat, and those from India seeking a serene island experience.

Key attractions on Nusa Ceningan include the Blue Lagoon, known for its stunning turquoise waters, and Secret Beach. The island is also a great spot for kayaking and paddleboarding. ARNA Suites and Ocean Lounge and Blue Lagoon Avia Villas are examples of accommodations that capture the island's unique charm. Access is typically via fast boat to Nusa Lembongan, followed by a short ride across the yellow bridge. The island is small enough to explore easily by scooter, allowing visitors to discover its hidden coves and viewpoints at their leisure.

Nusa Island (General/Central Hub)

While the individual islands have their own distinct characters, referring to "Nusa Island" as a general area can be useful for travellers who want a central base with good access to all three. This often means staying on Nusa Lembongan, which acts as a de facto hub for inter-island travel and services. It’s a practical choice for first-time visitors who want convenience and a wide array of amenities at their fingertips, ensuring easy access to both Lembongan's attractions and day trips to Penida and Ceningan. This area suits travellers from all backgrounds, including US, European, and Indian visitors, who prioritize ease of travel and a comprehensive range of services.

Staying in a central area on Nusa Lembongan provides proximity to the main departure points for fast boats to Bali and the ferry services connecting to Nusa Penida and Nusa Ceningan. This makes it an ideal location for those planning to explore the entire archipelago. Many hotels here, like Mahagiri Resort Nusa Lembongan, offer tour booking services and transport arrangements. The area boasts a good selection of restaurants, bars, and shops, ensuring that visitors have everything they need for a comfortable and convenient stay, with easy access to explore the wider Nusa Island region.

What to Eat and Where to Find It in Nusa Island

Nusa Island's culinary scene is a delightful reflection of Indonesian flavours, with a strong emphasis on fresh seafood and local produce. While sharing commonalities with mainland Indonesian cuisine, the islands offer unique twists influenced by their coastal setting. Expect dishes bursting with aromatic spices, often featuring grilled fish, succulent satay, and flavourful rice and noodle preparations. For travellers from the Philippines, the use of coconut milk and the prevalence of rice as a staple will feel familiar, while those from India might enjoy the complex spice profiles.

When exploring Nusa Island's food offerings, make sure to visit local warungs (small, family-run eateries) for an authentic taste of Indonesian home cooking. Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan have a good concentration of these, often found along the main roads or near popular beaches. For Muslim travellers, finding Halal-certified eateries is generally straightforward, as Indonesia is a Muslim-majority country, and many establishments will clearly indicate Halal options or prepare food according to Islamic dietary laws. Look for signs or ask locals for recommendations.

The cost of dining in Nusa Island offers excellent value for international travellers. Street food and meals at local warungs can range from ₱ 50 to ₱ 150 per person, a fraction of what one might expect in Western countries. Mid-range restaurants typically charge between ₱ 300 to ₱ 700 per person for a full meal, while more upscale dining experiences, often found at resorts like Mahagiri Resort Nusa Lembongan, might cost upwards of ₱ 1,000 or more. This affordability allows travellers to sample a wide variety of dishes without significant financial strain.

Dining in Nusa Island is a relaxed affair, and tipping is not customary but always appreciated for exceptional service. Meals are often enjoyed at a leisurely pace, with many restaurants offering stunning ocean views. It's advisable to try local specialties like "Ikan Bakar" (grilled fish) or "Nasi Goreng" (fried rice). Be open to trying new flavours and don't hesitate to ask for recommendations from your hotel or restaurant staff. Staying hydrated is also important, so opt for bottled water or freshly squeezed juices.

Cultural Norms and Staying Safe in Nusa Island

Understanding local customs is key to a respectful and enjoyable visit to Nusa Island. While generally relaxed, the islands have their own social etiquette. It's customary to dress modestly when visiting villages or temples, covering shoulders and knees. When interacting with locals, a friendly smile and a polite greeting go a long way. Avoid pointing with your left hand, as it's traditionally considered unclean. For travellers from the Philippines, the emphasis on community and respect for elders will likely feel familiar, while those from Western countries might find the pace of life and directness of communication different.

When visiting popular spots like Mahagiri Resort Nusa Lembongan or D'Camel Hotels Lembongan, general politeness and respect for property are expected. While dress codes are usually casual, especially around beach areas, it's advisable to wear more conservative attire when entering local shops or restaurants away from the main tourist strips. Photography is generally accepted, but it's always polite to ask permission before taking close-up photos of individuals, especially children. Observing queues and being patient are also appreciated social graces.

Safety in Nusa Island is generally good, with petty theft being the most common concern in tourist areas. It's wise to keep valuables secure and be aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded markets or on busy roads. For transportation, while ride-hailing apps like Grab are available on the mainland, they are less common on the smaller islands; renting a scooter or hiring a local driver are the primary options. Ensure your scooter rental is in good condition and always wear a helmet. For travellers from the US, Europe, India, and Africa, exercising the same caution as you would in any unfamiliar destination is recommended.

In case of emergencies, contact local police or medical services. While there isn't a Philippine Embassy on Nusa Island itself, the Philippine Embassy in Jakarta or the Consulate in Denpasar, Bali, can provide assistance to Filipino citizens. It's always recommended to have travel insurance that covers medical emergencies and evacuation. For Filipino travellers, registering with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) before departure can be beneficial for receiving timely alerts and assistance. Staying informed about any travel advisories issued by the DFA is also a prudent step.

Getting to Nusa Island and Getting Around

Reaching Nusa Island from the Philippines involves a multi-leg journey, typically starting with a flight from Manila (MNL), Cebu (CEB), or Clark (CRK) to Denpasar, Bali (DPS), Indonesia. Direct flights are rare, so expect at least one layover, often in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, or Hong Kong. The total travel time can range from 8 to 15 hours, depending on the layover duration. From Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) in Bali, you'll need to arrange transport to one of the harbours like Sanur or Padang Bai to catch a fast boat to Nusa Lembongan or Nusa Penida. This boat journey usually takes between 30 to 60 minutes. Booking your book flight well in advance is recommended for better fares.

Once you arrive at your chosen Nusa Island destination, getting around is part of the adventure. On Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan, the most popular and convenient way to explore is by renting a scooter. This offers the freedom to discover hidden beaches, viewpoints, and local eateries at your own pace. Taxis are also available, though less common and more expensive. For Nusa Penida, due to its larger size and more rugged terrain, renting a scooter is also an option for experienced riders, but hiring a car with a local driver is often recommended for comfort and safety, especially for accessing more remote attractions.

The best time to visit Nusa Island generally aligns with Indonesia's dry season, which runs from April to September. During these months, you can expect sunny days, lower humidity, and calmer seas, making it ideal for water activities and exploring the islands. However, this is also the peak tourist season, meaning higher prices for accommodation and more crowds at popular spots. For travellers from the US, Europe, and India, visiting during the shoulder seasons (April-May and September-October) can offer a good balance of pleasant weather and fewer tourists.

Before you depart for Nusa Island, ensure you have a few essentials sorted. The local currency is the Indonesian Rupiah (IDR). While some larger establishments might accept USD, it's best to have IDR for smaller purchases and local transport. SIM cards with data can be purchased at Bali airport or in tourist areas on the islands. Essential apps include Google Maps for navigation, a translation app, and potentially a currency converter. Always carry a copy of your passport and visa (if applicable) separately from the originals.

Visa Information

For Philippine passport holders planning to visit Nusa Island, which is part of Indonesia, understanding the visa requirements is crucial. As of current regulations, Philippine citizens are generally granted visa-free entry into Indonesia for short stays, typically up to 30 days, for tourism purposes. This allows for a convenient entry into the country, making it easier to reach destinations like Nusa Island. It is always recommended to verify the latest visa policies with the Indonesian Embassy or Consulate in the Philippines before your travel dates, as regulations can change.

The visa-free entry for Philippine passport holders usually requires that your passport be valid for at least six months beyond your intended stay and that you possess a confirmed onward or return ticket. While no visa fee is typically associated with this visa-free status, it's important to be prepared for potential immigration checks. Ensure you have sufficient funds to cover your stay and be ready to present your hotel bookings or itinerary if requested by immigration officers upon arrival in Indonesia.

While visa-free entry simplifies the process, it is always prudent for travellers to confirm the most up-to-date immigration policies directly with the official Indonesian immigration authorities or the Indonesian Embassy in the Philippines. Policies can be subject to change without prior notice. Confirming your entry requirements before booking your book flight and accommodation will prevent any last-minute issues and ensure a smooth travel experience to Nusa Island.
