Clayton Hotel Ballsbridge

I stayed here as my flight was 9 hours late, the last bus had left and the airport hotels were full. It was close to 11.30pm when I arrived. I asked the receptionist if he could give me some toothpaste (as it was the one toiletry item I didn’t have). He had no stocks and he referred me to the vending machines. The ones I found only had beverages and snacks. When I went to my room I discovered it didn’t have a usb port and my phone needed to be charged. I asked the receptionist if I could borrow an adaptor (I only had my Italian one). He was extremely reluctant to lend me one and I really had to grovel. He did eventually give me one. I appreciated the complementary water. This is not the best hotel to stay in when you are stranded like I was. The receptionist was extremely unfriendly and unhelpful. He made no allowances for my situation. While I am Irish - I think this customer service doesn’t reflect well on the so called Irish welcome ! I paid €182.25 for a few hours (left at 8.10am). While the room was fine, the whole experience was disappointing.

The property is beautiful, like staying in a castle. Many choices for breakfast, eggs not fully cooked.

Room was noisy from neighbours and street. Restaurant over priced and returned my meal as wasn't very nice (I don't do this). The waitor did arrange a partial refund for me. Wouldn't eat or stay there again unless it was significantly cheaper than nearby hotels (which is often isn't).

Room was clean and had good provisions in that there was an ironing board, safe and tea/coffee facilities. Bed was comfortable and room was dark, but not overly soundproofed and it was warm at night. Hotel parking underneath hotel is fine but access in and out of this is on a very narrow ramp in and to say it was sharp turn is an understatement: you wouldn't want to be in a large vehicle. The breakfast was lovely: buffet style and both cooked and continental offerings where varied, good quality, fresh offerings and the coffee was superb. On a downside I would not recommend dining here, we opted for a two course meal deal paid in advance but had I known what we would get I wouldn't have bothered. Took 45 mins before our food order was even taken, took a further hour to get our meal and the food wasn't great. Steak was well done not medium as requested and the maple chicken "sandwich" was disgusting: tasted stale and chicken was awful...only for we had been waiting so long I would have returned it. The restaurant was empty by the time we got to the coffee and they couldn't get that right...took 20mins to bring out a flat white which was freezing so I strongly advise you dine elsewhere. Staff were friendly if in short supply in the dining room for evening serving hence the abysmal service.

Room has a lot of wear and tear, didn’t live up to a four star and the price we paid. Location is really good

Location was ideal we were visiting the rds fir the motor show.. few minutes walk.. lots of bars in area and nice food places too.. hotel itself was fantastic staff friendly and accommodating..room spotless bed very comfortable. Parking only 10 euro if done online

Very well maintained and clean. I was in one of the older rooms and the wardrobe had just 4 hangers for two lady occupants!! Helpful staff as always. A great location for Simmonscourt where Holiday World was going on

Room was clean and staff friendly. Was told we were being given an upgrade, but there was nothing special about the room. It was on the 'executive' floor but there were no difference in the amenities, no robes, slippers etc - all basic but fine. Bed was very firm and pillow way too big and hard. Breakfast lovely but room very busy.

Yes room spotless, staff helpful and courteous

My stay was in January. It was cold outside but my room was very nice and heat was easy to regulate. Room was very clean, staff was friendly. Breakfast was really good. I would highly recommend.
