We was doing our laundry and the machines they had washed and dried in one sitting. However our clothes were never dried and we kept having to waste money to dry our clothes. Then the staff took our clothes out of the machine and still left our clothes wet. We asked for refunds but they declined, we asked for a dryer but they said we can let them air dry. We were fed up and let them air dry in our room which was already small and had poor amenities. Like the room card being the only way you can turn on everything in the room. Even the toilet wouldn’t flush if the room card wasn’t in the slot. After moving to our next hotel in our trip, we realized that a lot of our clothes were missing. We called the staff to see if anything was left in the room and they reported nothing was left. So we believe our clothes have been lost in transition when the staff took our clothes out and put them in small tiny bags. This was the worse part about our trip. The only thing that was good about this hotel was its bar.

The room was clean upon arrival. However the air vent or the AC was making us sick. When we returned to our room at night or woke up in the morning, we would have a sore throat, a cough, or sneeze a lot. We selected a non-smoking room. When we left the hotel we felt better. The luggage transfer service is also “do it yourself”, so you scan a QR code and just show the reservation ID to the staff.

Granbell Hotel Osaka is a very good value for the price. The staff were very polite, professional, welcoming. The room was small but accommodated two with two large pieces of luggage, one carry on and a backpack. We had a queen bed, which was very comfortable with a sleeping ft and firm pillow for each of us. The hotel provides various amenities - a spa, restaurant, laundry machines - which we didn’t use plus water refill station, coffee/tea, amenities stand with toothbrush, lotions, razor kit, etc., which we did. The water refill station was a great option. The breakfast was a combo of western and Japanese options including omelets/eggs to your request, misos, rice with fixings, tonkatsu, takoyaki, creme caramel, panna cotta, yogurt, pastries etc. 7 to 10 minutes to two metro stations two stops from Namba with so many options for food, drinks, coffee, pastries, shopping within a 5 minute walk. The area is very quiet. A very pleasant stay.

Breakfast timing system poor - why build a big new hotel with a breakfast room that’s too small from the get-go? We didn’t like being charged 2,000 Yen because we checked in about an hour early, especially as the hotel wasn’t doing anything to the room in that hour anyway. The hotel didn’t feel welcoming.
