I had inquired about a vegetarian breakfast option through Expedia messages, but never received a reply. I had booked a room with breakfast, so I was concerned. The hotel staff was very attentive and contacted the chef to arrange a vegetarian breakfast. The food was delicious but sparse. The wait staff asked how our breakfast was and made adjustments for the next day’s breakfast. Completely different breakfast and more substantial. The public bath amenities were nice, clean and not crowded. The hotel is right on the beach with beautiful views. It was also very easy to get a taxi from the hotel, front desk can make the call and was only a 5 minute wait .

Excellent resort. Public bath was great and included a whirl pool and massage chairs. Breakfast was delicious but the japanese dinner was phenomenal . The staff were friendly and helpful. Easy to get to from the Hagi bus . Go anywhere in Hagi for 100 yen. We would high recommend to stay for more then 1 day to enjoy the amenities and the area.

Great location on beach, but facility is a little dated. The private outdoor bath is a unique experience.

A unique traditional Japanese hotel experience with a good view towards the west. It’s a shame the staffing and dated facilities really let this place down.

Two things are really excellent about the Resort Hotel Mihagi: the friendly, helpful staff, and the location. Unfortunately the property itself is very dated. The walk to my room from reception involved navigating what appeared to be makeshift ramps and down corridors with crooked window dressings. When I arrived in my room, there was hair on the floor in both the toilet and beside the bed. One of the roller blinds was jammed open, and needed someone to come and fix it. There was a fibre-board fixing screw sitting on the bathroom floor, and a very bizarre, unfinished tiny room between the toilet and the shower. My room was on the same floor as one of the restaurants, and the smell of the cooking pervaded the corridors, and at times the room.

BAD SERVICE. Supposedly a Resort Hotel but you get services like in a business hotel. FIRST, don’t book the room with breakfast. It comes with Japanese breakfast but NOT good, really really simple like in a business hotel and many guests get seated in a room with tables flushed to a wall. We booked dinner too (food was great, in fairness) but got seated at the same table flushed against the same wall, with a divider flushed to the table’s other edge. It was like eating on a desk in a library, despite our request for a table change. (There were many vacant tables!) The staff said, “it’s our policy to seat you at the same table.” Why oh why?? There’s a better situated restaurant on their first floor surrounded by glass (no walls!) with the best ocean view... but it’s for customers who were smart enough not to book their breakfast with their rooms. We’re being punished for paying more! SECONDLY, If you need to change your bath towel, you get charged for it. There’s a box at the Onsen (public bath) where it says “put used towel here” - Don’t! - because your new towel, which you have to fetch yourself from the front desk, will cost you. Staff said, “it’s policy,” and he offered me two thin hand towels and said, “or you can use these instead of a bath towel.” Are you kidding me? Hagi is a beautiful place. I will probably return to Hagi but stay at a real resort hotel at the same rate this one offers or at a regular hotel for a fraction of this hotel’s price.

This is a Japanese resort hotel, with all the charm and all the quirkiness that this implies. The hotel is a bit off the beaten path, fairly far from the nearest train station (no taxis in sight, but a kind lady phoned for one on my behalf). That said, the hotel is in a stunning location, right on the beach and right near both the castle and the old samurai residences. The rooms are big and comfortable, and the hotel spa has a view of the water. Very little in the way of restaurants nearby--indeed, none that I could find for dinner. You eat on the hotel meal plan, or you don’t eat. Still, a great place to stay in Hagi, if a bit steep in price.

We stayed in an expensive thematic family room. It's really not worth it to pay a supplement for this as there are almost no games for the kids and these rooms have no windows and no natural light coming through. The meals were really awful for the price we paid. It was supposed to be kaiseki meals but there is no service at all. They put everything on the table on the beginning. Everything cooks in the same time and you don't have time to eat. Everything burns or is cold when it's time to eat. On both evenings, they have not provided the number or the type of dishes written on the menu. So, we can see that they try everything to win money. The quality of the food was one of the worst I have ever experienced in Japan for this very expensive price. On the second evening, they have served us some frozen beef ! The beef was still frozen !!!! What a shame. For the breakfast of the kids, they have not done any efforts. It was only things coming from the supermarket like chocolate crepe in a plastic. Very industrial and full of sugar. They have not even done the effort to cook something. We could have had better by going to the Combini ourselves. When we have done some comments to the staff to complain, they have been very rude. I have shown the paper of the menu to one of them to tell that some dishes are missing and he has teared out the menu from my hands and went out without any word. What's this way of doing ? On top of this, the big bath was kind of old and dirty.
