Modern hotel with old Japan touches. Loved the yakata robes and tatami mat floors. Most comfy Japanese hotel bed ever.
The cafe that serves breakfast below was amazing and I loved the quiet location in Arashiyama. It was an easy 15 minute walk to the river.

Our stay at the GrandWest Arashiyama was exceptional. The room was spacious and clean, reception was incredibly helpful, and the location was quiet and idyllic. During our stay we made the most of the amenities including free refreshments, a washing/drying machine, and a cute cafe situated just downstairs from the hotel entrance. Our stay here was easily one of the best parts of our trip to Japan and I highly encourage those visiting Arashiyama to consider this hotel!

The room is GrandWest is very clean, spacious and comfortable, with a Japanese modern style. We love it. The property is very close to the Arashiyama train station, 6 mins walk. It is also very close to the shopping downtown place, walkable maybe around 10 minutes walk. Property is at a very convenient location. The customer service is also very good. Excellent overall.

Very spacious and clean. Modern style with exposed concrete walls. Amenities include free coffee and tea in the lobby and toiletries include hair ties in the room. Breakfast in the cafe downstairs was excellent and included yogurt parfait, egg, waffle, salad, sausage, bacon and a drink. Very friendly staff with personalized note in the room and thank you upon check out. Traditional robes for each person included on each bed including the kids. Only downside - no elevators, also a bit of a walk (15-20 min) to temple and bamboo garden and JR but nice to be a little out of the way from the most touristy street.

The staff were kind and welcoming, and the location was perfect—peaceful, not noisy or crowded. There were many sightseeing spots along the street leading to Arashiyama Station (JR), which made exploring the area very enjoyable. The hot bath was very relaxing, and the bed was super comfortable. I would love to come back again!

We absolutely loved everything about this hotel! The location is perfectly tucked away off the beaten path—peaceful and quiet, yet still convenient. The room was spacious and the beds were incredibly comfortable. To top it off, the breakfast was delicious with plenty of options. Highly recommend!

Greeted very kindly and helped to our spacious room which we were so happily able to get into an hour early. This was our fifth hotel in the Kansai area and it was a treat to be able to experience more of an apartment type feel and have so much space to spread out. Loved the bed and down comforter after a long day of walking!
It was great to have access to water and a coffee machine in the lobby. Breakfast was very good although my husband and I thought the waffles were too dense and sweet…tasted more like a dessert.
The location was within 10-20 minutes walking distance to all the major sites in Arashiyama and your luggage can be held until 4pm after your checkout. It took care of one more thing we would have to think about in order to better enjoy our trip.
The only comment I would make is to check all the doors/gate hinges for excessive squeaking. I felt bad whenever we had to open certain ones because they were so loud especially very early in the morning. Otherwise we’re glad we stayed here and appreciated the sincerity of the staff.

Love the homely and cozy style of the guestroom and the family setting of the in room facilities. Enjoy the breakfast and apa facilities partnered with the hotel. I will indeed recommend others and return when I visit again.
