★★★★★ 5/5 – Spacious & Comfortable Stay I loved my stay at Penaga Hotel! The location was great, and the room was surprisingly big—3 bedrooms, 1 vanity room, a huge living room, and a lovely kitchen. Everything felt comfortable and well-designed. Great for Family trip! The staff were also friendly and very helpful, which made the whole experience even better I’d happily stay here again!

The hotel was unique and beautiful and spacious! Expedia has errors in the listing, so if a pool is an absolute requirement, do not stay here, there is NO POOL. We booked this place with a pool in mind for the kids, but we arrived to find out that Expedia details were wrong. The hotel doesn't deal with Expedia directly so they are not responsible for that misinformation. We noted that on other websites the information was correct. That being said, we were glad we stayed at this hotel despite the lack of pool. The location was amazing, the unique quirks of this historic building we're charming, and the staff were fantastic. The breakfast buffet was well stocked and ensured our whole family was ready each day of exploring that followed.

This hotel is in the perfect location. It had everything you need and very comfortable as well. Can be a little noisy as it’s located on a main road but it’s not too bad and they do provide you with ear plugs. Excellent staff, everything is as described on the site as well.

Location is very good and staff friendly, but concierge services were poor when seeking advice re places to eat. The room was comfortable and had a nice balcony, but one floorboard was broken, covered by a mat. Breakfast was disappointing - many items in the warmers were cold and it was hit and miss getting eggs cooked the way you liked depending on who was on duty. Often food that had run our was not restocked in a timely manner at times leaving little choice. Overall it appeared that the kitchen was understaffed and not particularly vigilant.

This hotel is *super* cute, and the breakfast spreads were quite good (I've had better, but those were pretty extreme). The location is great for walking around downtown. Note that the Transfer rooms require walking up two flights of stairs. The wifi speed was good, but maxed out on three devices. The second day there wasn't a lot of hot water for some reason. Check-in was a bit slow, but not unreasonably so. My biggest problem was that the beds were *super* hard. While I hope to visit Penang again, I won't be staying at this hotel just because of the mattresses, they were that bad. It was practically just a 1-inch layer of foam on top of a box-spring, it was that hard. Unfortunately hard mattresses are sort of a southeast asian thing so I am not sure other places will be much better either.

Overall experience is okay. Service staff are accommodating. The only not so pleasant experience is the constant body odor in the room - not sure if it's from the guest prior to my stay or it's from the housekeeper who cleans my room. Nice location on the edge of GeorgeTown, which is an easy walk away. The hotel offered an overall old school charm bringing back memories of the times spent in Singapore in the mid 60's. Room comfortable and big. Bed a tad too hard for my liking, but OK. Nice decor, balcony over looking the green and lush courtyard with interesting bird life. Just a tad noisy because of traffic (motor scooters with dodgy silencers!). Plenty of very good eateries in the general location, including 2 rather good hawker centers nor more than 5-6 mins away on foot.
