It is a hotel that I have been very impressed since I entered from the first step. The staff here really have the heart to provide service. Made from his own heart Made me feel that sincerity Every morning I wake up to see the staff. All the staff will greet. Good morning, everyone who meets the staff here, excellent service, polite, recommend tourist attractions in Yangon. When going to various places, wait for a taxi. And the room I received was clean, beautiful, fully equipped with the view of Shwedagon. I was very impressed with this hotel, a 4-star hotel, but everything is like a 5-star hotel and the day I stay matches my birthday. Which the hotel made a surprise birthday for me too By bringing the cake When returning from traveling outside, the lobby staff asked my room number. My partner and I were confused about whether we had done anything wrong, so asked him why? But the staff pretend not to know what we say, haha. Very cute. I asked the staff who brought the cake to know how it was the temple of my birth. The hotel responded that it looks from my passport. This hotel pays close attention to just this small detail. Made me very impressed I really recommend this hotel. Not just a good hotel Is a convenient hotel near shopping centers Near delicious food sources Next time, if I have the opportunity to visit Yangon again or many times, I will definitely come back to this Best Western Chinatown hotel. Do not change your mind again

I am very satisfied. The check-in process is fast, the hotel clerk is very friendly, responsive to help starting from internet access, helping with presentation equipment, to helping finding a taxi. In the clean room there are also Qibla directions. There is a vegetarian menu as a halal food option besides seafood. The location is also easily accessible, the location is in front of the city park & jogging track. Recommended.

From the sprawling urban energy of Yangon, with its colonial architecture and bustling markets, to the tranquil beauty of Inle Lake and the ancient royal cities of Mandalay, the country offers a spectrum of experiences. Regions like Kayin state hint at more rugged, natural landscapes, while the Ayeyarwady Delta holds its own unique charm. This variety ensures that whether you seek historical immersion, natural exploration, or cultural discovery, Myanmar has a corner that will resonate with your travel aspirations. Understanding the practicalities of travel from the Philippines is key to unlocking Myanmar's potential. This suggests that travellers can expect a good balance of affordability and quality, making it an accessible destination for a wide range of budgets. Planning your accommodation through platforms like Traveloka allows you to leverage this value, ensuring your trip is both enriching and economically sound. The allure of Mandalay, with its rich royal history and the iconic U Bein Bridge, serves as a perfect microcosm of Myanmar's appeal. Imagine strolling across the world's longest teak bridge at sunset, the golden light reflecting on the water, a scene that feels plucked from a timeless painting. This is the kind of evocative imagery that draws travellers to Myanmar, promising moments of quiet contemplation and breathtaking beauty. For those seeking such experiences, finding the right place to stay is the first step towards making these moments a reality, and you can easily book hotel rooms that put you close to these wonders. Myanmar is a destination that caters to a broad spectrum of travellers. Business travellers, too, will find modern amenities and convenient locations in the larger cities, ensuring productivity is balanced with the chance to experience the country's unique character.

Best Areas to Stay in Myanmar

Myanmar is a country of profound contrasts, where ancient traditions meet evolving modernity, and its distinct cities and regions offer vastly different travel experiences. Choosing where to base yourself is a crucial decision that will shape your entire journey, influencing everything from the pace of your days to the types of sights and sounds you encounter. Whether you're drawn to the spiritual heart of a former royal capital or the vibrant energy of its largest metropolis, understanding these regional nuances will help you select the perfect starting point for your Myanmar adventure.

Yangon

Yangon, the former capital, pulses with a unique energy that blends colonial charm with a distinctly Southeast Asian dynamism. As you wander its streets, you'll encounter a fascinating mix of crumbling British-era architecture, bustling street markets overflowing with local produce and crafts, and the ever-present shimmer of pagodas. It’s a city that invites exploration on foot, revealing hidden teashops, vibrant street art, and the daily rhythms of local life. This makes it an ideal base for travellers who enjoy urban exploration and want to dive headfirst into the country's most populous centre.

From Yangon, you can easily access iconic landmarks like the magnificent Shwedagon Pagoda, a breathtaking golden stupa that dominates the skyline and is a spiritual focal point for many. The city also serves as a gateway to other parts of Myanmar, with domestic flights connecting you to Mandalay and Bagan. Exploring the Bogyoke Aung San Market offers a chance to find unique souvenirs and sample local snacks, while the availability of various transport options makes it simple to book attraction tickets or tours in advance.

Mandalay

Mandalay, the last royal capital of Myanmar, exudes an air of historical grandeur and cultural significance. It's a city deeply connected to traditional arts and crafts, from gold leaf beating to wood carving, and is surrounded by ancient cities that whisper tales of bygone eras. The pace here feels a little more relaxed than in Yangon, allowing for a more contemplative experience of Myanmar's rich heritage. This makes Mandalay a prime destination for history buffs, culture enthusiasts, and anyone seeking to understand the country's royal past.

The city is famed for the U Bein Bridge, a stunning teak structure that offers spectacular sunset views, and the Mahamuni Buddha Temple, home to a revered image of the Buddha. Mandalay also serves as a launching point for excursions to nearby ancient capitals like Amarapura and Sagaing, each offering unique historical sites and panoramic views. The local cuisine here is also a highlight, with dishes like Mandalay-style mohinga being a must-try for any visitor wanting to taste the region's culinary identity.

Bagan

Bagan is an archaeological wonder, a vast plain dotted with thousands of ancient temples, pagodas, and stupas, many dating back to the 11th and 12th centuries. The sheer scale and historical depth of this UNESCO World Heritage site are awe-inspiring, offering a visual spectacle unlike anywhere else in the world. Sunrise and sunset over the temple-strewn landscape, often viewed from a hot air balloon or a strategically placed vantage point, are truly unforgettable moments. Bagan is best suited for travellers seeking profound historical immersion and breathtaking, iconic scenery.

Beyond the main temple complexes, exploring the smaller, less-visited structures can lead to moments of quiet discovery. Renting an e-bike or bicycle is the most popular way to navigate the dusty paths between temples, allowing for a personal and flexible exploration of the site. While Bagan is primarily an historical destination, the nearby town of Nyaung U offers a more local feel with markets and guesthouses, providing a practical base for accessing the archaeological zone and experiencing everyday life in the region.

Inle Lake

Inle Lake offers a serene and picturesque escape, renowned for its unique leg-rowing fishermen, floating gardens, and stilted villages. Life on the lake moves at a different pace, dictated by the water and the seasons. A boat trip across the vast expanse of the lake is the primary way to experience its charm, observing the local way of life, visiting artisanal workshops, and marvelling at the natural beauty. This destination is perfect for travellers seeking tranquility, natural beauty, and a glimpse into a distinct way of life that is intrinsically tied to the water.

Key attractions include the Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, the lake's most important religious site, and the Nga Phe Kyaung Monastery, known for its jumping cats (though this is less common now). Visitors can also explore workshops producing traditional Shan paper, silver, and woven fabrics. The surrounding hills offer opportunities for trekking to hill tribe villages, providing a broader perspective on the region's diverse ethnic groups and landscapes.

These dishes, along with many others, can be found in local eateries, bustling street food stalls, and more formal restaurants across the country. When dining in Myanmar, embracing the local customs can enhance your experience. Meals are typically communal, with dishes shared among diners. Tipping is not customary in most local eateries, though it is appreciated in higher-end hotels and restaurants. Navigating Myanmar: Cultural Etiquette and Safety Tips

Understanding and respecting local customs is paramount when travelling to Myanmar, ensuring a smooth and enriching experience for visitors from the Philippines. The Burmese people are known for their gentle nature and deep-rooted traditions, and a little awareness goes a long way in fostering positive interactions. Familiarizing yourself with basic etiquette will not only prevent unintentional faux pas but also open doors to more meaningful connections with the local culture and its people. When visiting religious sites, such as the countless pagodas and temples across Myanmar, it is essential to dress modestly. This means covering your shoulders and knees; shorts and sleeveless tops are generally not appropriate. Visitors are also required to remove their shoes and socks before entering temple grounds, a practice that signifies respect. Photography is usually permitted, but always be mindful of your surroundings and avoid taking pictures of people without their consent, especially monks in prayer. For safety, Myanmar is generally a welcoming country, but like any travel destination, it's wise to take standard precautions. Keep your valuables secure and be aware of your surroundings, particularly in crowded markets or on public transport. While ride-hailing apps are not as prevalent as in some other parts of Southeast Asia, reputable taxi services are available in major cities. It's advisable to agree on a fare before starting your journey or to use metered taxis where available to ensure fair pricing. In case of emergencies, knowing key contact numbers is crucial. For immediate assistance, dial 199 for police and 192 for medical emergencies. For Filipino citizens travelling abroad, it's always a good idea to register your travel with the nearest Philippine Embassy or Consulate. While specific contact details for the Philippine Embassy in Myanmar should be verified closer to your travel date, having this information readily accessible can provide peace of mind. Travel insurance is also highly recommended to cover unforeseen medical expenses or trip disruptions.

Your Travel Guide to Myanmar from the Philippines

Embarking on a journey from the Philippines to Myanmar opens up a range of cultural discovery and historical exploration. While direct flights might be limited, connecting through major hubs like Kuala Lumpur or Bangkok makes Myanmar an accessible destination for Filipino travellers. Planning your trip involves understanding the best routes, local transportation, and the ideal times to visit to make the most of your adventure in this captivating Southeast Asian nation. Getting to Myanmar from the Philippines typically involves a connecting flight, often through Kuala Lumpur (KUL), Bangkok (BKK), or Singapore (SIN). Airlines such as Malaysia Airlines, Thai Airways, and Singapore Airlines frequently operate these routes, with travel times varying depending on the layover. From major Philippine gateways like Manila (MNL) or Cebu (CEB), you can expect a total travel time of around 6 to 10 hours, including the transit. Booking your book flight in advance can often secure better fares, especially during peak travel seasons. Once you arrive in Myanmar, navigating between cities is relatively straightforward. Domestic flights connect major tourist destinations like Yangon, Mandalay, and Bagan, offering a quick way to cover long distances. For a more scenic and budget-friendly option, long-distance buses are available, though journeys can be lengthy. Train travel is also an option, providing a glimpse into the countryside, but it is generally slower than bus or air travel. Within cities, taxis and ride-sharing services (where available) are common modes of transport. The best time to visit Myanmar from the Philippines is generally during the dry season, which runs from November to February. During these months, the weather is pleasant, with cooler temperatures and less humidity, making it ideal for exploring temples and outdoor attractions. The shoulder seasons, from March to May (hot) and September to October (rainy), can also be good times to visit, potentially offering lower prices and fewer crowds, though you should be prepared for warmer or wetter conditions. Before you depart, ensure you have your passport, which should have at least six months of validity remaining. The local currency is the Myanmar Kyat (MMK), and while US dollars were once widely accepted, it's now best to rely on the local currency obtained through ATMs or exchange bureaus. Consider purchasing a local SIM card upon arrival for easier communication and data access. Essential apps for navigation and translation can also be very helpful during your stay.

Myanmar Visa Requirements for Filipino Citizens

As citizens of the Philippines, understanding the visa requirements for entering Myanmar is a crucial step in planning your trip. Myanmar has specific entry regulations that Filipino passport holders need to adhere to in order to ensure a smooth and hassle-free journey into the country. It is always recommended to check the latest visa policies with the official Myanmar embassy or consulate in the Philippines well in advance of your intended travel dates, as regulations can be subject to change. Filipino passport holders are generally required to obtain a visa to enter Myanmar. While visa-free entry is not typically offered for tourism purposes, Myanmar has made the application process more accessible through an e-visa system. This online application allows travellers to apply for a tourist visa remotely, often processing applications within a few business days. The e-visa typically grants a stay of up to 28 days for tourism purposes, though it's essential to confirm the exact duration and conditions upon application. To apply for a Myanmar e-visa, you will typically need a scanned copy of your passport, a recent passport-sized photograph, and a valid email address. You will also need to provide details about your intended itinerary and accommodation. Payment for the visa fee is usually made online via credit card. It is important to ensure that your passport has at least six months of validity remaining from your date of entry into Myanmar and that you have proof of onward travel, such as a return flight booking.

Impressed with the hotel. Although it's not a 5 star hotel but feels good about everything. Beginning with the staff bringing Welcome Drink to a spacious room. Overlooking the Shwedagon pagoda The breakfast started. Happy parents.
