Golden Tulip Leiden Centre

Very nice hotel, handy for the station and a short walk into the city centre. The room was good-sized, clean and comfortable. We dined in the hotel on Xmas Day and it was excellent.

Dear Reception Manager Golden Tulip Leiden Center I hope you are in the best of health I would like to inform you that I have been traveling to the Netherlands mainly for business since 1980. The first hotel I stayed in was the Marriott in Amsterdam. Since then I stayed in most of the major hotels in Amsterdam except the Amstel. The same for Rotterdam. My business took me sometime to small towns where I stayed in small but convenient hotels. I arrived the day before yesterday intending to stay for two nights on my way back to Kuwait from Detroit but the charm of Leiden induced me to stay for two more days. Everybody we met in the hotel and the city was nice and polite except one receptionist I met her today at AM 11:50. We were supposed to move to our new room in the new building. I went to the receptionist whose name is Noa and I am not sure about the spelling and asked when we can move to our new room and she or another girl answered your room is ready. And I asked Noa what time I have to check out from my room and she replied at 12. So I told we need more time to pack. She insisted on 12. And I asked give at least until 12:30 and she replied no. And then after demand from me she said I will give you until 12:15. And we managed to check out at 12:25 and a nice girl checked us out. I told Noa that even if you’re fully booked the room has to be available by PM 3:00. But she didn’t care. But the most hurting was the way she was talking to me. She was talking to me as

De ansatte i reception var direkte ubehøvlede under både indtjekning og udtjekning. Havde for øvrigt også rod i registreringerne, så de forsøgte at få betaling for opholdet ved både ind- og udtjekning. Lidt uopmærksomhed fra min side ville have betydet dobbelt betaling. Og nærmest latterligt, blev receptionisten fornærmet over at blive opdaget i en fejl.

Great front of house service!

Everything was so clean. It even smelled clean. Staff were quick to address our needs when we requested something. Will definitely stay here again. Very close to train which was nice.

We chose The Golden Tulip, for a week’s stay because it is so close to the Leiden Central Station, so it was a great location. We could quickly walk to all of the great areas of the wonderful city of lLeiden. The staff was friendly, helpful and professional. The double bed room was small, but well laid out, efficient and impeccably cleaned everyday. The bed was comfortable and the shower was great. The espresso machine was great! The room has been updated with great modern design. What was missing are the amenities we expect from a 4 star hotel. The bathroom amenities, particularly the hair conditioner and body lotion were virtually impossible to get out of the tiny containers, and there was no actual shampoo, just a body wash/shampoo combination. The soap dispensers seemed too cheap for a 4 star hotel. The hallways are quite dreary and could use some art on the walls. All that being said, we would stay at The Golden Tulip again, and hope that the ammenities hav3 been upgraded.

This hotel is not very modern, not even having USB sockets for charging. The room quite basic, my bed was releasing strange sounds with my every move. Awful smell in the toilet did not disappear all night. Kettle was not working. It’s not the hotel quality it used to be 5-10 years ago.

This was a great location to stay. Across the street from train and bus station. Easy access to the tulip gardens as they have a bus dedicated for the gardens at the depot. With the train station across the street made it easy to travel to other areas. Restaurant was good and service was outstanding. And everyone was eager to help and spoke English! Thanks

Hotel is close to train station, convenient to take train to other attractions. Hotel staff is professional and courteous, but not friendly nor put any extra effort in assisting the customers. I think this might be typical in Europe, unlike American hotels. We had the business suit, room is spacious but noisy in the morning from the elevator so don't sleep in late. Also room doesn't have enough lights and too dark at night for older travellers like us. Room's view out of window is a roof of the building with a wall in front, so no so good.

The hotel is located very convenient for the public transportation and close from nice restaurants near and their breakfast is top notch.

Beautiful hotel in the center of it all close to train station.

Among the many positives; Kind staff (cleaning team!! and front desk). Even the renovation workers were also considerate. Very quiet and relaxing in the evening. The suite room was very comfortable. The bath was also such a lovely addition, great for my kid to enjoy. There were lobby seating areas that looked very pleasant to enjoy a chat. Very minor downsides: The baggage carts were challenging to steer. The lifts were quite small, so a baggage cart and a person is difficult to fit into the lift together. TV /channels were a little challenging to sort out. Ketnet and youtube didn't seem to work, which would have been better entertainment options for the moments the young ones need it. Everything worked out well, and we very much enjoyed our stay!
