Thon Hotel Astoria

The staff was great and they provided a nice breakfast. Good walkable location to shops and transportation. Only negatives were that the rooms are definitely NOT soundproof (and there was all day construction in the courtyard next door) and also the size of the bathroom was tiny even for Europe. Every shower the entire bathroom floor got wet. Compared to the other Thon hotels I have stayed at this one nicer but was not quite up to par.

They have a fabulous breakfast included!! The hotel was very reasonably priced as well!

I have stayed at this hotel several times as it is conveniently located near the station and has always offered good value for money. During my most recent trip and despite having the 'do not disturb' hanger on my room door - twice housekeeping entered my room and once whilst I was in the bathroom! Also, every morning during my stay at about 5.30am staff are outside moving rubbish/glass bottles loudly about (I was on Floor 2) which woke me every morning - not the best start to the day. I've never noticed it before but when dark, the hotel is not lit up outside and looks closed! The area is also a bit messy due to major building works taking place next door (another hotel I believe) I may try a different hotel next time ...

tiny room but comfortable bed. Big enough for one person. Bathroom also tiny but adequate. Near the train station which was great. The included breakfast was fabulous ! Lots of choice including fried eggs, cheese, pancakes, etc.

I stayed in a standard single room, which was very compact—just enough space to shower comfortably, and I’m not a big guy. That said, the room was spotless, with a good TV, fresh towels provided daily, and access to an ironing room on the third floor, which was a bonus for me. Breakfast was a highlight: excellent quality and plenty of variety. The staff were friendly and approachable throughout my stay. I especially appreciated their help with securely storing my laptop in the downstairs safe room each day. The location is unbeatable—right in the heart of the city, close to tram stops, the rail station, supermarkets, and loads of places to eat. I’d definitely stay here again, but next time I’d opt for a larger room. The standard single was just too tight for comfort.

Although the room was tiny and oddly-shaped, and I regretted the lack of air conditioning, the breakfast buffet was phenomenal — full of a wide variety of interesting and delicious foods — and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Cuando arribamos nos dieron una habitación imposible. La 721. Último piso con un techo en caída que hacía imposible poder circular por el cuarto. Hice el reclamo y recién al otro día nos dieron una habitación normal. Razonable. Y la limpieza del cuarto deja bastante que desear. La ubicación es increíble.

The staff was very understanding of our preferences and concerns. At our request, they moved us to a room with a view. However, this room turned out very noisy, since it overlooked the street, and was quite cramped. Again at our request, they moved us to a more spacious room facing a courtyard that was very quiet. The breakfast was of excellent quality with a lot of variety. Areas for improvement: the shower stall design (the bottom of the door did not have a good seal, and it was somewhat cramped).

This hotel is very close to central train station and city centre, Trams and busses are also nearby, if you would like to travel a bit further. Room is tiny, staff was nice. Breakfast had a large selection.

Great location

Great location only 10 minutes walk from Oslo central. Single room was tiny but did me just fine as only used for sleeping. Single bed was bigger than normal single and comfortable. Free coffee at lobby was bonus. Also let me check in early was a bonus. Will stay again.

The room was very small (the bathroom particularly, knocked my elbows a couple of times lol) as we knew it would be from the description, but it was totally adequate for the overnight stay we needed it for. Perfect location for the train station, shopping area and a short walk down to the waterfront. We could have our complimentary breakfast (of which there was good choice and tasty) at half 7 and still make it to the train station for our 8:12 departure to Voss. Staff really friendly and efficient.

We stayed here for a one night layover in Oslo and it met our needs perfectly. While the room was small it was fine for one night. The breakfast was great and the staff didn’t hesitate to give us a late check out.
