Thon Hotel Astoria

Convenient location downtown, but property to BOTH sides of the hotel were under heavy construction, making it impossible to get a quiet room. This was not disclosed prior to booking. Hallway noise was also an issue with how large the gap was at the bottom of the door. Due to construction fencing RIGHT at the front door, they had a temporary luggage ramp set up and was essentially just plywood; definitely too steep for a wheel chair if you needed one.

It was fine.... But, I thought it was very expensive for what it was. Tiny room and very basic decor for USD 200. It felt like it should be a c. USD 130 room. Maybe that's Oslo prices... But, frankly you'd find as good/bad a deal in Paris (which sets a benchmark for tired, tiny, rip-off hotel rooms.)

The location is perfect. A few minutes away from the train station and basically located in the city centre (the main church is literally down the street). The room was nice and clean and the bed was one of the most comfortable ones I’ve ever tried. However, the rooms are poorly isolated so you can hear EVERYTHING that happens in the other rooms. Noise from outside is also quite bad (and I was located at the back so not near any streets). The breakfast is really good but the room where it’s served is extremely small. There are a lot of people at any time and it was difficult to find a table (and even when u find it you fell pressured to leave as it’s very crowded and even difficult to go around the room). On my second day I tried 2 times to come down and have breakfast before being able to have a table, even if they ask you to choose a specific time slot to have it. Staff is nice and informative.

Really nice hotel in a good location in the city. Staff were all friendly and breakfast was great. Room was everything I needed, but for anyone who might be larger in size you might struggle to use the shower in the small size room 😄

Positives: location excellence, buffet breakfast great, also breakfast stays open later than most hotels (open until 11am), cleanliness solid, wifi great, customer service very nice, smooth check in, bedroom window opens up get fresh air, bed surprisingly was very comfortable - great sleeps. Negatives: bedroom and bathroom was tight tight tight - 86 square feet, if you’re fat or remotely chunky you’re literally not going to fit in that shower shoebox. If you’re skinny and solo then it works, if you’re two people it would be difficult to be in that room. However there is a lovableness to the room as it was super clean and cozy. Therefore If you’re fat get a larger room than the small 86 square feet room option. There was construction going on but to mitigate that just go to YouTube and type “sleep ocean waves rain thunder … and that white noise will drown out the construction outside in order to continue to have a great sleep

I like the location near the central station. Breakfast is also great with its taste and variety.

We booked a family getaway and found the hotel was in a street that was closed off. The building next to our hotel was being refurbished and we were advised that they would be working through the night! We were then offered earplugs!

Hotel location is excellent. It is within walking distance to major sights such as Karl Johans gate, Opera house, Munch museum, etc., Property also offers wonderful breakfast. They are serving lots of variety for guest to choose from. Only downside that we have from this hotel is thta rooms are a bit smaller although manageable enough not to feel claustrophobic. Overall, we had an excellent stay and highly recommend this property during your stay in Oslo.

Great location, staff very helpful

Clean, safe and comfortable. Great staff, friendly and helpful. I asked for a quiet room and was accommodated; very quiet, no problems sleeping. Excellent breakfast. Conveniently located near Oslo Central Train Station, easy to find. Would definitely look to stay here again!

The single room was comfortable and the hotel was close to all major shopping, museums and the train station. The buffet breakfast was the best I had I Norway.

Walkable distance

This is so close to train station and everywhere is walkable. Other reviews mention room dize but my room was quite enough gor me.

Business trip and hotel is really convenient with good walking paths from the Central Train station, to my clients' offices at the business districts/Aker Brygge. Lots of local restaurants and Delis in the vicinity of the hotel

Excellent choice. Very close the main train starion .wlaking distance also for the The Oslo Opera House and Munch Museum .

I really like this hotel, very convenient to almost everything. I had a single room and it was the smallest of all the single rooms I have had on this trip- that was the only downside. However, it was a great price, so it was okay. The breakfast was amazing, the staff very friendly and helpful. I would stay here again but book a bigger room next time.

The stay was decent for the location and price but the room was small.

The hotel and staff were great as was the breakfast. It was very convenient to the train station and a number of sites and restaurants. The only issue was noise from renovations that should be done soon.
