About

Alabang is located south of Manila and is popular for its upscale shopping centers and posh communities. But don’t let the skyscrapers fool you. Behind the tall building are lush greens so it’s perfect for city explorers who appreciate a good mix of modernity and Mother Nature.

At A Glance

City living, while not as talked about compared to the country’s spectacular beaches and other tourist spots, has its perks. For instance, Alabang has a wide range of developments–from shopping malls, to office towers, condominiums, hotels and dining destinations. It’s a quick getaway from home sans the crowd and heavy traffic common in bigger cities.

How to Go

By plane

The closest airports to Alabang are Manila Domestic Airport and Ninoy Aquino International Airport. From there, the most convenient way to get to Alabang is by taking the taxi.

By land

The easiest way to get to Alabang from Manila is by taking the South Luzon Expressway (SLEx) or the Skyway. From Makati, there’s also a P2P bus services (PHP70) that operates Mondays to Saturdays.

Getting Around

Moving around Alabang via public transportation is easy because there are designated jeepney and bus terminals. There are taxis available (although most of them don’t use the meter) but if you’re staying in a hotel, they usually provide a shuttle service to and from the malls.

Tourist Attractions

The vibrant city is a go-to weekend place among families and friends. Take a leisurely walk at The Park in Madrigal for a quick change of scenery or master your golf swing at South Point Driving Range. You can also visit malls like the Festival Super and Alabang Town Center.

Top Things to Do

You can watch a movie in one of the new and state-of-the-art cinemas in Commercenter Alabang or have coffee in one of the al fresco parts of the mall while catching up with friends. The good thing about this city is that it offers all the things you need for a relaxing day without the hustle and bustle of a crowded mall.

In Alabang Town Center, there’s an outdoor activity area where kids can play. This is also where special events for shoppers and diners are held. On some nights you can even watch live music and do fun, and family-friendly activities, too.

Where to Eat

Alabang has a number of places to eat but most of them are a bit upscale–the kind you reserve for special occasions like birthdays or anniversaries. Try to check out The Black Pig for a taste of local lechon and Spanish jamon Iberico, Caviar Restaurant and Champagne Bar for lavish European dishes, and The Nest for a 360-degree view of Filinvest City while you dine.

For budget-friendly eats, you can go to malls for familiar fast food spots or visit Molito Lifestyle Center for more options like Ramen Yushoken or Recovery Food.

Nightlife

Most of the residents from Alabang still go to Makati or Bonifacio Global City for parties (it’s only a short drive anyway) but there are still establishments like Draft Gastropub, Bugsy's Bar and Bistro and Union Jack Tavern where you can go for drinks. Most of the patrons are European expatriates so they offer an international selection of beers.

Where to Stay

There are a number of hotels to choose from in Alabang and most of them are complete with amenities whether you want to do a relaxing staycation or it’s for business purposes. You won’t run out of activities too because the hotels are mostly walking distance from the malls and food establishments.

For 5-star accommodation, you can check out The Bellevue Manila, Crimson Hotel, and Acacia Hotel Manila. A more affordable option is Azumi Boutique Hotel. Their rooftop pool looks amazing with a view of the city.

  • It’s safe to walk around Alabang so you can simply go around by foot if the weather is nice.
