I unfortunately arrived late but they greeted me and understood that things happen. I had a crush on the receptionist. Anyways, there's a nice convenient convenience store in front! San Miguel's is now my favorite beer. They can also make some food very good and cheap. Inside there's more stores. There's a gym that had equipment better than any hotel gym I been too. The barn serves good food. There's a hair/beauty shop. Etc! I had ants in my room but they took care of it immediately. I had a great time there. I skeptical when I tried to see it in the map but it's there!

The B Lifestyle is a great place to stay! It's got decent rooms and ac and interent. But the best part of it all is the Amazing Food from the Barn Restaurant which is on the 3rd floor. It's amazing. It's really close to SM City Iloilo, only a jeepney ride away.I would love to come back and stay here again! The only problem is, depending which room you stay in, sometimes there are parties on the top floor. You can hear it and it gets really loud. But there's a curfew so they don't stay over night. I would highly recommend this place.

From Manila (Ninoy Aquino International Airport - NAIA), several airlines operate daily flights to Iloilo International Airport (ILO). The flight duration is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. Ticket prices can range from PHP 2,000 to PHP 5,000 or more, depending on the season, booking time, and airline.

Booking your book flight in advance, especially during peak seasons, is highly recommended to secure better fares. From Cebu (Mactan-Cebu International Airport), flights to Iloilo are also frequent, with a shorter flight time of about 50 minutes.

If you prefer land and sea travel, Iloilo City is accessible via ferry services. Major shipping lines operate routes from Manila to Iloilo, with travel time typically ranging from 18 to 24 hours. This option is more budget-friendly, with ferry tickets often costing between PHP 800 to PHP 1,500 for economy or reclining seats, and more for private cabins. Companies like 2GO Travel are prominent operators.

From other parts of Panay Island, land travel via buses and vans is common, with terminals located strategically within Iloilo City. For those coming from Mindanao, a combination of flights or ferry services to Cebu or directly to Iloilo might be necessary.

For those who enjoy road trips, driving to Iloilo City is possible, though it's a significant journey, especially from Manila. The route typically involves taking the Pan-Philippine Highway and then utilizing ferry services to cross bodies of water. The total travel time can exceed 24 hours, including ferry crossings. While toll fees and fuel costs need to be factored in, this option offers the flexibility to stop and explore other destinations along the way.

However, for most travelers, flying remains the most practical and time-efficient method to reach Iloilo City.

Best Time to Visit Iloilo City

Iloilo City experiences a tropical climate, characterized by distinct wet and dry seasons. The dry season generally runs from November to April, offering sunny days and lower humidity, making it an ideal period for outdoor activities and exploring the city's attractions. This is considered the peak tourist season, especially around the Christmas holidays and the Chinese New Year.

During these months, you can expect pleasant weather for visiting historical sites, enjoying the beaches on nearby islands, and participating in outdoor festivals.

The wet season typically spans from May to October, bringing with it higher rainfall, particularly in the afternoons. While this period might see occasional downpours, it doesn't usually disrupt travel for extended periods. The advantage of visiting during the wet season is fewer crowds and potentially lower accommodation prices, offering a more relaxed experience for travelers who prefer a quieter atmosphere. It's also a great time to explore the city's museums and culinary offerings.

For a truly immersive cultural experience, consider timing your visit with Iloilo's major festivals. The Dinagyang Festival, held every fourth weekend of January, is one of the most spectacular religious and cultural festivals in the Philippines, drawing massive crowds. If you prefer a less crowded but still lively atmosphere, the months of November, December, February, and March offer a good balance of pleasant weather and manageable tourist numbers.

Ultimately, the best time to visit depends on your priorities, whether it's perfect weather, fewer crowds, or specific cultural events.

Food and Dining Near Iloilo City — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

Iloilo City is renowned as the "Food Capital of the Philippines," and its culinary scene is a major draw for Filipino travelers. A dish you absolutely must try is La Paz Batchoy, a hearty noodle soup made with pork, pork cracklings, and various internal organs, served in a rich, flavorful broth. The most famous place to try this is at Netong's Original La Paz Batchoy in La Paz Market, where the authentic taste has been perfected over generations.

The savory depth of the broth and the combination of textures make it a truly satisfying experience.

Another Ilonggo specialty is KBL, which stands for Kadyos, Baboy, and Langka. This is a rich stew made with pigeon peas (kadyos), pork, and young jackfruit (langka), simmered in a flavorful broth often infused with lemongrass and other aromatics. It’s a comforting and deeply flavorful dish that showcases the region's unique ingredients. You can find excellent versions of KBL in many local eateries and carinderias around Iloilo City.

Don't leave Iloilo without trying their Pancit Molo. Unlike other pancit dishes, this is a wonton soup where the wontons are filled with ground pork and shrimp, served in a clear, savory broth with shredded chicken and spring onions. The delicate wrappers and the flavorful filling, combined with the light broth, make it a delightful and distinct noodle soup. Many restaurants offer their own take on this classic Ilonggo comfort food.

For seafood lovers, Iloilo's proximity to the coast means fresh catches are abundant. Grilled seafood, particularly fish and squid, is a popular choice. Many restaurants along the coast or in the city offer a variety of grilled options, often served with soy sauce, calamansi, and chili. The simplicity of preparation allows the natural freshness and flavor of the seafood to shine through.

Finally, for a sweet treat, try the Binangkal, a deep-fried dough ball coated in sesame seeds, similar to a donut hole but with a distinct chewy texture and nutty flavor from the sesame. They are often sold by street vendors and are a perfect snack to enjoy while exploring the city. These culinary experiences are integral to understanding the culture and heritage of Iloilo.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Iloilo City

Iloilo City is known for its polite and friendly locals, often referred to as "Ilonggos." A key aspect of their culture is the concept of "Malo-malo," which translates to "slowly, slowly" or taking things at a relaxed pace. This translates into a generally laid-back atmosphere, so embracing this slower rhythm can enhance your travel experience. When interacting with locals, a smile and a polite greeting ("Maayong adlaw" for good day) go a long way.

Respect for elders and religious sites is also important; dress modestly when visiting churches like Jaro Cathedral.

Safety in Iloilo City is generally good, with crime rates being relatively low compared to other major cities in the Philippines. However, as with any travel destination, it's wise to exercise standard precautions. Be aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded areas like markets or during festivals. Keep your valuables secure and avoid displaying expensive items openly.

It's advisable to use reputable transportation services, such as metered taxis or ride-hailing apps, and to agree on fares beforehand if using other options. For emergencies, the local police hotline is typically 911.

For essential apps to enhance your trip, consider downloading ride-hailing apps like Grab, which operates in Iloilo City for convenient transportation and food delivery. A reliable map application, such as Google Maps, is indispensable for navigation. For communication, ensure you have a messaging app like WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger. If you plan to explore beyond the city, a weather app can help you stay updated on conditions. Having these tools readily available will make your journey smoother and more enjoyable.

Nice convenient hotel with good secure off road parking Reasonable sized room with adequate aircon and good wifi. Hotel is very noisy - Not only the local barking dogs all night, but it is used as a business centre and visitors have no respect for guests, they shout in the alleyways and the rooftop bar area holds parties regularly. Security is poor due to the number of visitors to different businesses on all floors. Restaurant is quite good, some dishes are a little quirky but overall service is reasonable. They do need to learn that when Juice is offered with breakfast, it does not mean Ice Tea, but that is all you get. There were numerous guests with large dogs in the hotel, all using the car park as a toilet which was not acceptable.

This was my first time to stay in this hotel. New built and the taxi driver cannot find the location, I called the hotel just to give direction to the taxi driver. They have nice room, comfy bed, friendly receptionist. Near from jollibee, 20-25 minutes walk to festival mall.

This is a mixed use building that the hotel is in and there is a nightclub with load noise and parties on weekends.

Its a clean hotel with modern amenities, &free parking. You get a microwave and refrigerator in your room, plus complimentary bottles of water, which is nice. However, the room is small, & it feels small. They put a small dining area in the corner but the space is not enough for two people to dine comfortably. If you are travelling your bags will be all over, so it feels cramped. They also dont have phones in the rooms connecting you to reception, so when guests need to inquire or request something they have to go to the first floor which is very annoying. The bathroom is quite roomy but they only have a curtain separating the shower area so when two people take consecutive showers the area overflows and leads to a wet floor. Service is okay, they seem genuinely helpful, but the guy who led us to our room doesnt seem to know nor do his job very well. He just opened the door and the lights, but we had to look for the aircon remote, the tv (which was hard to figure out and very few channels) and he left the refrigerator turned off and unplugged (which we had us confused for a while if it was broken or not, we wanted to ask the main desk but we were too lazy to go all the way down). A big plus is that they had a lot of other businesses within the hotel - a salon, laundromat, restaurant, gym, working space, etc - so its quite convenient. We had some pampering done right before bed. In general our stay was okay but maybe 2000+ pesos can get you a roomier hotel room somewhere else.

I spent a week in the B lifestyle complex. I chose it for the availability of a gym on location. The room was comfortable to stay. The restaurant had breakfast specials to choose from that were affordable. I was given some day passes to use the gym and was even able to join a class. The location is within a 80 peso ride to the smallville area for nightlife or dinner, and about a 15 minute walk to the SM. Jeepneys come by the main road if you prefer that. Laundry was super cheap and was done within the same day. I would stay there again if I go to Iloilo. It is far enough away from the loud nightlife and affordable for a clean and safe place to stay.

Quite good, first room had a bit of a smell but was changed to different one without any problem. Preferred standard room because bed was not against wall as it is in studio so both can get in and out easily. Chose the hotel because reviews say good restaurant but when we got there after a long trip we couldn't eat there because of an "exclusive" function so we still had to drag us to SM Mall to eat. Breakfast was too slow almost half an hour waiting for 2 dishes when place is not at all busy is wasting our time in the morning when everyone has plans, no jam or marmelade was available for my buttered toast and no black tea what a joke. Overall quite expensive for what it is. Would probably stay elsewhere next time.
