It was great stay. I wished I had booked it for more than 2 nights. It's a cheap beach front accommodation with a hotel experience that is nearly as good as a more expensive hotel. Will definitely book again for my return and recommend to my friends.

Your Travel Guide to Boracay Island as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Boracay Island from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

For Filipino travelers planning a trip to the stunning Boracay Island, getting there from major hubs like Manila, Cebu, or Davao is a well-trodden path with several convenient options. The most popular and time-efficient method is by air. From Manila (NAIA), numerous airlines offer daily flights to Caticlan Airport (MPH), which is the closest airport to Boracay. These flights typically take around 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Fares can vary significantly depending on the season and how far in advance you book, but expect prices to range from approximately PHP 3,000 to PHP 8,000 for a round trip if booked strategically. Airlines like Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, and AirAsia frequently service this route. You can book flight tickets easily through Traveloka to compare options and find the best deals.

Alternatively, you can fly into Kalibo International Airport (KLO), which is further from Boracay but often has cheaper flight options. Flights to Kalibo also take about 1 hour and 15 minutes from Manila. From Kalibo, you'll need to take a van or bus to Caticlan Jetty Port, a journey of about 1.5 to 2 hours. Van services typically cost around PHP 250-350 per person, while bus fares might be slightly lower.

This option is more economical if flight prices to Caticlan are high, but it adds significant travel time. Similar flight options are available from Cebu and Davao, connecting you to either Caticlan or Kalibo.

For the more adventurous or budget-conscious traveler, land and sea travel is also an option, though considerably longer. From Manila, you can take a bus to Caticlan. Several bus companies operate routes from terminals in Pasay or Cubao, with journeys lasting approximately 10 to 12 hours. Bus tickets usually range from PHP 800 to PHP 1,500, depending on the bus class. Upon reaching Caticlan, you would then proceed to the jetty port for the boat transfer to Boracay.

This method is best suited for those who enjoy road trips and want to save on airfare, but it requires a significant time commitment.

Best Time to Visit Boracay Island

Boracay Island experiences two main seasons: the dry season and the wet season, each offering a distinct atmosphere and set of advantages for visitors. The dry season, generally from November to May, is considered the peak tourist season. During these months, you can expect sunny skies, calm seas, and pleasant temperatures, making it ideal for beach activities, swimming, and water sports. The Amihan winds, blowing from the northeast, bring fair weather and calmer waters, particularly to White Beach.

This period is perfect for travelers who want a fitting choice for Boracay experience with guaranteed good weather. However, due to its popularity, expect larger crowds and potentially higher prices for accommodation and flights.

The wet season, from June to October, is characterized by the Habagat winds, which can bring rain and rougher seas. While there can be periods of heavy rainfall, it's not uncommon to have sunny days interspersed with showers. This season is considered the off-peak period, meaning fewer tourists, a more relaxed ambiance, and often more affordable rates for hotels and activities.

For travelers who don't mind the possibility of occasional rain and are looking for a more laid-back vibe and better value, the wet season can be an excellent time to visit. It's also a good time for surfers, as the conditions can be more favorable on certain parts of the island. For a balance of good weather and fewer crowds, the shoulder months of November and May can offer a sweet spot.

Food and Dining Near Boracay Island — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

Boracay Island, while famous for its beaches, also offers a delightful culinary journey that every Filipino traveler should embark on. One dish that is a staple and a must-try is Kinilaw na Tanigue. This is the Filipino version of ceviche, where fresh, raw tanigue (Spanish mackerel) is "cooked" in vinegar, typically spiced with ginger, onions, chili, and calamansi. The tangy, fresh flavors are incredibly refreshing, especially after a day under the sun.

You'll find excellent versions in many local eateries along White Beach, often prepared with a unique local twist.

Another local delight that captures the essence of island dining is Grilled Seafood. Boracay's proximity to the sea means an abundance of fresh catch is readily available. From succulent prawns and squid to various types of fish like lapu-lapu and talakitok, grilled to perfection over charcoal, it's a simple yet profoundly satisfying meal. Many beachfront restaurants offer daily selections of fresh seafood that you can choose yourself and have cooked to your preference.

Pair it with a side of garlic rice and a dipping sauce of soy sauce, calamansi, and chili for an authentic taste of the Philippines.

For those with a sweet tooth, Halo-Halo is an absolute essential. This iconic Filipino dessert is a delightful concoction of shaved ice, milk, sweet beans, fruits, jellies, leche flan, and ube ice cream, all mixed together. It's a colorful, layered treat that is both visually appealing and incredibly delicious, providing the perfect cool-down on a hot Boracay afternoon.

You can find numerous stalls and restaurants serving halo-halo, each with its own secret recipe, but the ones from local vendors often offer the most authentic and generous servings.

Don't leave Boracay without trying La Paz Batchoy, a hearty noodle soup originating from Iloilo but widely loved across the Philippines. This rich, flavorful broth is packed with pork, shrimp, and various toppings, making it a comforting and filling meal, especially for breakfast or a late-night snack. While not exclusively a Boracay dish, its availability in local eateries allows Filipino travelers to enjoy a taste of home or a hearty meal that fuels further island adventures.

Exploring the local eateries and smaller carinderias away from the main tourist strips can often lead to the most authentic and delicious culinary discoveries.

It was great stay. I wished I had booked it for more than 2 nights. It's a cheap beach front accommodation with a hotel experience that is nearly as good as a more expensive hotel. Will definitely book again for my return and recommend to my friends.

Nice location!! Great view from the balcony. It is really beachfront and close to D Mall. I would come back to this place. It is a must to bring Off lotion as there are mosquitoes.

Very accessible to the beach. Room is clean, but there were lots of mosquitos in our room.

We had a wonderful stay here! Literally just a few steps from the beach. Staff were very friendly—checking in was a breeze. Room was very clean and the pillows were really fluffy. I liked that we had a veranda, good spot to just chill and watch people go by. Will definitely come back here when in Boracay!

Hotel is nice and they have good view of the beach. Location is good as it's between Station 1 and 2, beach is not crowded at that part and it's near D'Mall. Our room when we checked in was clean and it's spacious. Staff were very accommodating and always smiling. You can ask for housekeeping service but we did not. They offered a transportation arrangement for a reasonable price, as well as some water activities. Breakfast was not included in the package but guests in this hotel have 10% discount in Army Navy which is located on the ground level. Will surely stay in this hotel again.
