Location and How to Get to Century Plaza Hotel

Address and Getting There

Century Plaza Hotel is situated at Juana Osmena Street, Kamputhaw, Cebu City, Cebu, Philippines, with the postal code 6000. This address places it within an area characterized by its proximity to public facilities, meaning essential services and transportation links are generally within easy reach. The neighborhood offers a practical urban setting, allowing guests to experience the city's rhythm without being too far from key destinations.

For travelers arriving by air, Mactan-Cebu International Airport (CEB) is the primary gateway. From the airport, you can arrange for a taxi or a ride-sharing service directly to the hotel, a journey that typically takes around 45 minutes to an hour, depending on traffic conditions. The approximate fare for a taxi can range from PHP 400 to PHP 600. If you're planning your trip in advance, it's always a good idea to book flight tickets early to secure better rates.

For those coming from other parts of Cebu or nearby islands via ferry, Pier 1 is a significant arrival point. From Pier 1, Century Plaza Hotel is approximately 2.87 kilometers away. A short taxi ride or a jeepney ride, followed by a brief walk, can get you to the hotel. The taxi fare from Pier 1 would likely be in the range of PHP 100 to PHP 150, taking about 10-15 minutes without heavy traffic.

Just a short distance from Century Plaza Hotel, at 312 meters, you will find Cebu Doctor's University Hospital. This proximity is reassuring for travelers who may need quick access to medical facilities or are visiting loved ones at the hospital. While not a tourist attraction, its presence signifies the area's development and accessibility to essential services, contributing to a sense of security for guests.

For shoppers and those looking to experience Cebu's modern commercial hubs, Ayala Center Cebu is located about 1.27 kilometers away. This expansive lifestyle mall offers a wide array of retail stores, dining options, and entertainment facilities. Highlights You'll Love

When you stay at Century Plaza Hotel, you can count on a few key facilities designed to make your visit smoother. The on-site restaurant means you won't have to venture far for a meal, whether it's a quick breakfast before heading out or a relaxed dinner after a day of exploring. This convenience is especially valuable for travelers who prefer to have dining options readily available within their accommodation.

The presence of a 24-hour front desk is a significant advantage, offering assistance and support at any hour. This is particularly reassuring for late arrivals or early departures, ensuring that there is always someone available to help with your needs. Whether you have a question about the city or require assistance with your room, the dedicated staff are there to provide prompt service.

For guests arriving by car, the hotel provides parking facilities, which can be a considerable convenience in a busy city like Cebu. This means you can leave your vehicle securely while you focus on enjoying your stay. Additionally, the elevator ensures easy access to all floors, making it convenient for all guests, including those with mobility concerns or heavy luggage.

Room Comforts and Additional Services

Beyond the main facilities, Century Plaza Hotel offers services that enhance your overall comfort and convenience. Express check-in and express check-out are available, streamlining your arrival and departure process. This is perfect for travelers who are on a tight schedule or simply prefer a quick and efficient process, allowing you to settle in or head off without delay.

Upon arrival, you might be greeted with welcoming drinks, a small gesture that adds a pleasant touch to your check-in experience. It’s a nice way to start your stay and feel a bit more relaxed. The hotel also provides a 24-hour receptionist, ensuring that assistance is always at hand, day or night, for any queries or needs you may have during your visit.

For those who like to stay updated or catch up on the news, a newspaper is available in the lobby. This small amenity can be a welcome addition for guests who enjoy starting their day with a read. These thoughtful services contribute to a comfortable stay, making it easier for you to book hotel rooms that cater to your practical needs.

Breakfast at Century Plaza Hotel

For many travelers, the start of the day is made better with a good breakfast, and Century Plaza Hotel ensures this is possible. The hotel offers rooms that provide breakfast, meaning you can enjoy a meal to fuel your day's activities without needing to leave the premises. This convenience is a significant plus, especially for early risers or those with busy schedules.

While specific details on the breakfast spread are best confirmed upon arrival, the availability of breakfast services suggests a focus on guest convenience. Imagine starting your morning with a warm meal, perhaps local Filipino favorites or standard continental options, before you head out to explore Cebu City. It’s a simple yet important amenity that contributes to a smooth and satisfying travel experience.

Pet Policy at Century Plaza Hotel

For travelers who rely on their animal companions for assistance, it's important to note Century Plaza Hotel's specific pet policy. The hotel does not permit service animals. This means that guests who require the presence of service animals will need to make alternative arrangements for their accommodation.

This policy is in place to ensure the comfort and safety of all guests, as well as to maintain the hotel's operational standards. Travelers with service animals should consider this information when planning their trip to Cebu City and look for accommodations that explicitly welcome them.

Check-in and Check-out Information

Upon arriving at Century Plaza Hotel, you can expect the check-in process to commence from 14:00 onwards. This standard time allows the hotel staff ample opportunity to prepare your room thoroughly after the previous guest's departure, ensuring a clean and welcoming environment for your arrival. If you happen to arrive earlier than 14:00, it's advisable to approach the 24-hour front desk.

While early check-in is not guaranteed, the hotel staff may be able to accommodate you if your room is ready. Alternatively, they can often store your luggage securely, allowing you to begin exploring Cebu City without being burdened by your bags. This service is particularly helpful for those who have arrived on an early flight or bus and wish to make the most of their first day.

When it's time to depart, check-out is scheduled for before 12:00 noon. This allows the hotel to prepare for incoming guests. If you have a later flight or need a bit more time, inquire at the front desk about the possibility of a late check-out. While often subject to availability and potentially a fee, it can provide extra flexibility. If a late check-out isn't possible, you can usually leave your luggage with the hotel and continue enjoying the city until your departure.

Your Travel Guide to Cebu City as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Cebu City from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

For most Filipino travelers coming from Manila or other major cities like Davao, Clark, or Iloilo, flying is the most efficient way to reach Cebu City. Major airlines such as Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, and AirAsia operate frequent flights to Mactan-Cebu International Airport (CEB). Flight durations typically range from 1 hour and 15 minutes to 1 hour and 30 minutes. Fares can vary significantly depending on the season and how far in advance you book flight tickets, but expect prices to start from around PHP 2,000 to PHP 5,000 for a round trip if booked strategically.

If you prefer land and sea travel, or are coming from nearby Visayas islands, ferry services are a viable option. Major shipping lines like 2GO Travel offer routes to Cebu from various ports, including Manila. The sea journey from Manila can take approximately 22 to 36 hours, making it a more leisurely but significantly longer option. Fares for ferry trips are generally more affordable than flights, often ranging from PHP 1,500 to PHP 3,000 for a one-way ticket, depending on the class of accommodation.

For those traveling from Mindanao, bus services combined with ferry trips are also common. For instance, from Cagayan de Oro, you can take a bus to a port and then a ferry to Cebu. Driving your own vehicle is also possible, especially for those within the Visayas region, utilizing the extensive road network and ferry services. Toll fees and fuel costs should be factored in for such journeys.

Best Time to Visit Cebu City

Cebu City enjoys a tropical climate, meaning it's generally warm and humid throughout the year. The best time to visit for most Filipino travelers seeking pleasant weather is during the dry season, which typically runs from December to May. During these months, you can expect less rainfall and more sunshine, making it ideal for outdoor activities, exploring historical sites, and enjoying the city's attractions.

The period from December to February is often considered the most comfortable, with slightly cooler temperatures and lower humidity compared to the hotter months of March to May. While the rainy season (June to November) brings more frequent showers, these are often short-lived and can be followed by sunshine. Traveling during the shoulder months or the rainy season can also mean fewer crowds and potentially lower prices for flights and accommodation, offering a different kind of travel advantage.

Food and Dining Near Cebu City — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

Cebu is a culinary destination, and Filipino travelers will find a wealth of delicious food to explore. One dish you absolutely must try is Lechon Cebu. Unlike lechon from other regions, Cebu's version is known for its incredibly crispy skin and flavorful, succulent meat, often seasoned simply with salt and native spices. You can find excellent lechon at various restaurants, with CNT Lechon and Zubuchon being popular choices.

Another local specialty is Kinilaw na Tanigue, Cebu's take on ceviche. Fresh tangigue (mackerel) is marinated in vinegar, onions, ginger, and chili peppers, offering a zesty and refreshing appetizer or light meal. Many local eateries and even higher-end restaurants serve this dish, showcasing the freshness of Cebu's seafood. It’s a perfect dish to enjoy on a warm day.

For those with a sweet tooth, try the Rosquillos, a type of cookie that originated from Liloan, Cebu. These ring-shaped biscuits are slightly sweet and crunchy, perfect with coffee or as a snack. You can find them in local bakeries and souvenir shops throughout the city. Also, don't leave Cebu without trying Halo-Halo, a popular Filipino dessert made with shaved ice, milk, sweet beans, fruits, and topped with leche flan and ube ice cream. It's the ultimate refreshment.

When dining near Century Plaza Hotel, explore the local carinderias for authentic flavors or head to popular spots like Larsian BBQ for a wide selection of grilled meats and seafood. For a more contemporary dining experience, the restaurants around Ayala Center Cebu offer diverse international and local cuisines. Exploring these culinary options is a significant part of the Cebu City experience for any Filipino traveler.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Cebu City

Cebuano culture is known for its warmth and hospitality. Filipinos are generally respectful of elders and traditions. When visiting churches or religious sites, dress modestly out of respect. Learning a few basic Cebuano phrases like "Salamat" (Thank you) and "Maayong adlaw" (Good day) can go a long way in fostering positive interactions with locals. Always be mindful of your surroundings, especially in crowded areas, to prevent petty theft.

For safety, it's advisable to keep your valuables secure and be aware of your environment. Stick to well-lit and populated areas, especially at night. If you encounter any emergencies, the local emergency number for police and ambulance is typically 911. Having a list of important contact numbers, including your hotel's, is always a good practice.

To enhance your travel experience, consider downloading a few essential apps. Grab is indispensable for ride-hailing and food delivery, offering a convenient way to get around and order meals. Google Maps is crucial for navigation, helping you find your way around the city and discover points of interest. For communication, WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger are widely used by Filipinos. Having these apps on your smartphone will make your trip smoother and more enjoyable.

The hotel is not a new one, which means several things -- rooms are bigger, beds are bigger, windows are bigger, toilet is big. But in terms of the facilities, they could use some refurbising or updating (shower, shower curtains, toilet bowls). All in all, I would still stay here again because they have the basic elements that I am looking for in a hotel room -- bright lights (needed if you'll be there for work), free wifi in room, free breakfast, near public transportation, near stores, malls and other eating places. The place is walking distance to Fuente de Osmena, and that means being near the malls and shopping centers, pasalubong centers (souvenirs and food items for bringing home), local food centers. And of course, the low rates nailed it for me.

My over-all experience is good except for the breakfast that the hotel is serving. I was greatly dissatisfied because the amount of serving is not sufficient to an ordinary person's appetite. I was served 2pcs (thinly slices) of beef tapa and a toasted sunny side up egg. I just hope they will improve this because it is more of a "carinderia" service than a hotel.

Great location, spacious rooms...only complaint is takes a long while for hot water to come through to the shower and some of the bars close to hotel have really lound music on the weekend late into the night

Good hotel for the place in a area of downtown. Just bring your own face rags for showering.

The room was large and the aircon worked fine. The TV was good and the bed was comfortable. I would have preferred a king size, but it was okay. It was quiet in the room and there were good services available close by. It is close to Mango Sq.

It was ok. I just wish the food was better. Overall, I will probably come and stay there on my next visit. The room is affordable and comfortable.
