Awesome service. Will keep coming back if only for the friendly and helpful staff. Also, great view in the Twin Deluxe mountain view room we got. 24-hour Benguet coffee is also available at the cafe/lounge. The chef was also accommodating to our request to veganize some of their dishes.

The room that I have booked to stay for one night (deluxe twin) is exactly the same as the pictures provided, for public viewing. The room is neat and clean, including the bathroom. The mountain view is perfectly captured from the room, and is absolutely breathtaking. Upon check-in, they provided us breakfast and dinner vouchers. Dinners were served individually and breakfast is in the form of buffet. Food is good, and satisfies our preferences. The staff are courteous, and never failed to attend our needs on time. They are also considerate providing our requests. Overall, I can say that I am very much satisfied with the service they provided on our stay. We will definitely book again to stay Chalet Hotel, shall we decide to schedule another vacation in Baguio.

Your Travel Guide to Baguio City as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Baguio City from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

Traveling to Baguio City from Manila is a popular route for many Filipinos. The most common way is by bus, with several companies operating from terminals like Cubao and Pasay. Buses typically run 24/7, and a one-way fare can range from PHP 500 to PHP 800, depending on the bus type (e.g., regular, de luxe). The journey takes approximately 4 to 6 hours, depending on traffic conditions, especially when traversing the NLEX and SCTEX highways.

For those seeking a faster option, flying is possible, though Baguio does not have its own commercial airport. The nearest major airport is Clark International Airport (CRK) in Pampanga. From Clark, you can take a bus directly to Baguio, which takes about 3 to 4 hours. Flights from major hubs like Cebu or Davao to Clark can vary in price, but booking in advance through Traveloka can help you find competitive fares, often starting around PHP 2,000 to PHP 4,000 for a one-way ticket.

Driving your own vehicle offers flexibility. From Manila, you'll typically take the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and then the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) towards Tarlac, before connecting to the MacArthur Highway and eventually the Marcos Highway or Kennon Road leading into Baguio. Toll fees can add up, estimated at around PHP 600-800 for a round trip. The drive offers scenic views as you ascend into the mountains, but be prepared for winding roads, especially on Kennon Road.

Best Time to Visit Baguio City

Baguio City experiences a pleasant, cool climate year-round, making it a favored destination. The coolest months are typically from December to February, with temperatures sometimes dropping to as low as 10-15 degrees Celsius. This period is considered peak season, especially around Christmas and the Panagbenga Festival in February, so expect larger crowds and higher accommodation prices.

The "rainy season" in Baguio runs from June to October. While it does rain, it's often in the form of afternoon showers rather than continuous downpours. This time can be ideal for travelers seeking fewer crowds and potentially lower prices. The mist and rain can add a certain atmospheric charm to the city, making it feel even more like a cool retreat. For a balance of good weather and manageable crowds, consider visiting during the shoulder months of November or March to May.

Food and Dining Near Baguio City — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

No trip to Baguio is complete without trying its famous strawberries. Whether enjoyed fresh, as jam, or in a strawberry taho, these berries are a local specialty. You can find them at the public market or roadside stalls. For a delightful strawberry treat, try the strawberry shortcake or ice cream from local cafes, often found near the city center.

Pinikpikan is a traditional Cordilleran dish that showcases local ingredients and cooking methods. It's a hearty soup made with chicken (or pork) and a unique ingredient called "dinateden" (a native vegetable). The preparation involves a specific technique that tenderizes the meat. Many local eateries and restaurants in Baguio offer this authentic dish, providing a true taste of the region's culinary heritage.

Baguio is also known for its unique take on savory dishes. Try the "Sinigang na Baboy" (pork in sour broth) with a local twist, often incorporating local vegetables. Another must-try is "Chopsuey," a stir-fried vegetable dish that is a staple in Baguio restaurants, reflecting the influence of Chinese cuisine. These dishes are widely available in restaurants around the city, including those near Chalet Baguio.

For a sweet ending, don't forget to sample Baguio's Ube Jam and Peanut Brittle. These are popular pasalubong (take-home gifts) that many visitors purchase before leaving. You can find high-quality versions at local pasalubong shops and bakeries scattered throughout Baguio City. These sweet treats are perfect for sharing with family and friends back home.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Baguio City

Baguio City is known for its friendly and respectful locals. When interacting, a polite greeting and a smile go a long way. It's customary to be mindful of noise levels, especially in residential areas and during late hours. The city's culture is a blend of indigenous Cordilleran traditions and influences from its history as an American hill station, creating a unique social fabric.

Safety in Baguio City is generally good, but like any urban area, it's wise to be aware of your surroundings. Keep your valuables secure, especially in crowded places like the public market. Avoid walking alone in poorly lit areas late at night. For emergencies, the local police hotline is typically 911, and it's advisable to have the contact numbers of your hotel and local friends readily available.

To enhance your travel experience, consider downloading a few essential apps. A reliable navigation app like Google Maps is indispensable for getting around. For transportation, ride-hailing apps are available, though tricycles are a common and affordable mode of transport within the city. Having a weather app can also be useful, given Baguio's unpredictable climate. For booking accommodations and activities, the Traveloka app is your go-to resource.

Familiarize yourself with basic Filipino phrases, although English is widely spoken and understood in Baguio. Understanding local customs, such as removing your shoes before entering someone's home, shows respect. The city's laid-back atmosphere encourages a slower pace, so take the time to appreciate the cool air and the scenic beauty that Baguio offers.

Awesome service. Will keep coming back if only for the friendly and helpful staff. Also, great view in the Twin Deluxe mountain view room we got. 24-hour Benguet coffee is also available at the cafe/lounge. The chef was also accommodating to our request to veganize some of their dishes.

Insufficient toiletries and they have no minibar, however there is a free flowing coffee and water station at the main lobby so that’s definitely a plus. Hotel staff were accommodating and they tried their best help guests.

Loved our stay. Unlimited coffee and good breakfast. Their standard room was clean we got everything we need. However it would be perfect if there is a 24/7 convenience store nearby, you need to buy food in advance if you get hungry at midnight. They stop serving food by 9pm. Good thing yellow cab delivery in Baguio is 24/7.

Being in the service industry myself, I get so disappointed with the kind of service they've provided during our stay. Hotel employees was not friendly and accommodating. Which I believe should be their first priority to make their guests feel welcome and worthy of their stay. Lack of information given on the current status of the hotel during our stay which is supposed to be their full responsibility to their guests.. ee respect and understand hotels policies that we also know that should be followed but the least that they could do and I think that we deserve is to inform and educate us to lessen our expectation. Sad to say but this is our worst hotel stay ever.. Thumbs down to Chalet Baguio

Not the same as you saw on pictures. May the hotel check comfort rooms if ventilation still working and kindly check molds on it. AC unit might need some maintenance work too. The rest still good.

Superb Wifi Connection!! 60-80mbps!! Place is neat and the staff were all very accommodating. Only downside is the limited parking space and a little improvement with the heater and toilets. But overall, we are pleased with the service and it was a good stay for a reasonable rate!!

We had the most enjoyable stay. Really like the spacious room and mostly the view! That alone made it perfect to our short get away. Although, just some areas for improvements, especially those tiny details that make up the whole experience. Housekeeping issues. For someone as critical as me when it comes to food, I find the food flavoursome. That was a nice bonus! Very accessible location too. Easy to get to any places. Will definitely choose to stay again and recommend this place.

Room looked exactly like the pictures. Request for a back view room & enjoy to watch the Baguio morning fog from your room couch. Plated breakfast can be availed all day long. Free flowing coffee at the lobby. Very helpful staff.

This is our second time in this hotel. Still same service. The only downside this time is the hot water shower in our room. The water is so weak. Other than that, we still had a nice stay.

Hotel is not clean and blinds even have molds, AC is having issues and even froze on us. It 's expectation versus reality.

Hotel is nice. Near the victory liner terminal and SM Baguio walking distance. My husband and I loved to walk. Staff are accommodating and pleasant. The only problem is the shower heater. Food is OK too! Been here twice so I would like this hotel to be my home for few days whenever in Baguio. :) thank you

Nothing happened. But for how many years its just same the towels, the bathrooms and the rooms no improvement at all. And the parking too, you cant park because the vacant slot is for the manager.
