No cable, limited wifi connections (wifi signal only in the reception area), food like breakfast not so nice. No response from the Bano personnel when informing our situations.

It was a quaint resort with a refreshing vibe located at the tip of Santiago bay. The resort staff is friendly. We had a decent room. Points of improvement: - Creaky bed - Very slow wi-fi connection

The accomodation was clean, staff were friendly and helpful. It was worth the money.

Check-in process was horrible. The staff would still have to verify with the management who would be checking in. Additionally, I'm used to not printing my hotel vouchers anymore since the property can just verify it online but we were asked for a printed copy of the hotel confirmation. We had to find a printer. Good thing their was a computer shop within 10 minute walk but it was still a hassle. I specifically booked for 4 persons but it turned out that the room is only good for 3 and we need to pay an additional if the 4 of us will stay. We requested for additional towels but they said they would only give you one towel per room. The owner however gave us 1 more towel but it was still not enough for all of us. Their were lots of flies in the room. Maybe I should have not expected too much since the room was cheap anyway. I guess you get what you pay for.

About

San Francisco Camotes Island

San Francisco, Cebu is a quiet municipality on the Camotes group of islands and is known for several natural landmarks that tourists flock to all year round. These places of interest are also home to numerous species of endemic flora and fauna, all of which are protected by the local government. San Francisco is also a favorite swimming site for nearby locals.

How to Go

By Ferry/Boat

Hop on Oceanjet which will take you to Camotes in an hour and a half for around PhP500.00. You can also try Jomalia Shipping that leaves Mactan Wharf to Camotes on a daily basis. Travel time is around two hours.

Getting Around

San Francisco is a pretty small town, so going around on foot or using a habal-habal is a good way to go around.

Tourist Attractions

Lake Danao

When one thinks of San Francisco, they immediately think of Santiago Bay. This stretch of sand is located at the southwestern part of the area, and is maintained by the local government. Another place to relax in is Lake Danao, a guitar-shaped lake where you can go have a picnic or take a boat ride to see the protected park’s beautiful scenery. If you’re feeling adventurous, try swimming in Tumibo Cave’s crystal-clear underground pool.

Top Things to Do

San Francisco Beach

Being an island municipality, it’s best to take an island tour first to get to know the locals and how life is like in San Francisco. Once you’re familiar with the town, hit the beaches for some snorkeling or scuba diving. If you’re not feeling your fins growing on you yet, bring out a volleyball and take part in beach sports.

Where to Eat

Nena's Grill And Drinks

The most popular restaurant in San Francisco is Nena’s Grill and Drinks found in Santiago. On hot days, be sure to order their halo-halo, one of best-tasting treats on the island.

Nightlife

Nena’s also comes to mind when drinking out at night. Just a little father from Santiago Bay, more casual drinkers and diners can opt to order a bucket at Dread House Reggae Bar.

Where to Stay

Masamayor Beach Resort

Most of the hotel accommodations in San Francisco is affordable for backpackers. Try Masamayor Beach Resort close to Santiago Bay for PhP1,000.00/night or Harbor View in San Francisco (prices vary depending on the room you’ve chosen.

Travel Tips

  • Summer is the best time to go to San Francisco, but be warned that it could get crowded around that time
  • There’s only one ATM on the island, so bring a lot of cash with you. Very few places accept credit cards.
  • Motorcycle tours starts may be pricey – more than PhP500.00 for half a day – but they’ll take you to the best spots on the island
