This Hotel is Excellent within the high 3 to 4 Star class! Great Value in my opinion! Staff is Very Friendly and happy to please. Hotel is Secluded with Great Security. Private Beach (same owner as CPG) across a two lane road. Beautiful shallow Pool! Loved being on the First Floor! A previous review stated that the hotel was in a bad section of town. In my opinion, nothing could be further from the truth! This is the Philippines in an Urban Residential area. On the Highway leading to CoralPoint Gardens, most of the Houses and small businesses are within a couple meters of the traffic lane with little or no shoulder. People are walking and standing on the road! Jeepneys stop in the traffic lane to take on and discharge passengers! Much different than in US. During my trip, everyone I met was Friendly and extremely Courteous. Please do understand that this Hotel is Secluded and offers outstanding Privacy! The cost of that is it takes approximately 30 minutes by Taxi to the Airport and 45 minutes to an Hour to get to the Cebu City / Mandaue area. In my humble opinion it is a Fantastic Hotel! Love the Staff!!!! I would absolutely stay there again!!

How to Get to Lapu-Lapu City, Mactan Island from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

The most convenient way to reach Lapu-Lapu City, Mactan Island from Manila and other major Philippine cities is by air. Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) is the primary gateway. Major airlines like Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, and AirAsia operate frequent flights from Manila (MNL) to Cebu (CEB). Flight durations are typically around 1 hour and 15 minutes, with fares varying based on booking time and airline, often ranging from PHP 2,000 to PHP 5,000 for a round trip if you book flight in advance.

From other key cities like Davao, Cagayan de Oro, or Iloilo, direct flights to MCIA are also available. These flights generally take between 1 to 2 hours. Booking your flights through platforms like Traveloka can help you find competitive prices and compare options easily, ensuring you get the best deal for your travel dates.

While less common for inter-island travel from distant cities, bus travel is an option if you are already in Mindanao or Visayas and prefer a land and ferry combination. However, this is a significantly longer and more complex journey. For most travelers, especially those coming from Luzon, flying remains the most practical and time-efficient method to reach Mactan Island.

Best Time to Visit Lapu-Lapu City, Mactan Island

The Philippines generally experiences a tropical climate, and Lapu-Lapu City, Mactan Island is no exception. The best time to visit is typically during the dry season, which runs from December to May. During these months, you can expect sunny skies, lower humidity, and minimal rainfall, making it ideal for outdoor activities, beach hopping, and exploring the island's attractions. The period between March and May tends to be the hottest.

The wet season, from June to November, brings higher chances of rain, occasional typhoons, and increased humidity. While you might find lower prices for flights and accommodation during this period, it's important to be prepared for potential disruptions to your travel plans due to weather. For travelers who prioritize consistent good weather for their vacation, aiming for the dry season is advisable.

Food and Dining Near Lapu-Lapu City, Mactan Island — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

Cebu is renowned for its culinary scene, and Mactan Island offers a taste of these delights. A must-try is the famous Cebu Lechon, often hailed as the best in the Philippines. This roasted pig is known for its incredibly crispy skin and flavorful, succulent meat, seasoned with a unique blend of spices. Look for local eateries or restaurants specializing in lechon for an authentic experience.

Another local specialty is Kinilaw, the Filipino version of ceviche. Fresh raw fish, typically tuna or tanigue, is marinated in vinegar, onions, ginger, chili peppers, and other local spices. It’s a refreshing and tangy dish, perfect as an appetizer, especially in a tropical setting. Many seafood restaurants around Mactan Island will offer their own delicious take on this dish.

For those who enjoy grilled dishes, Tuslob Buwa is an interesting local delicacy. It's a savory, frothy stew made from pork brain and liver, simmered with spices and served with rice or puto (steamed rice cake). While the ingredients might sound adventurous, the rich, umami flavor is a unique culinary experience that many locals enjoy. It’s often found in smaller, local eateries.

Don't leave Cebu without trying Dried Mangoes and Otap. While not a meal, these are iconic Cebuano snacks. Dried mangoes are a sweet and chewy treat, while Otap is a flaky, crispy biscuit. They make for great pasalubong (souvenirs) for friends and family back home. You can find these in local markets and souvenir shops across Lapu-Lapu City.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Lapu-Lapu City, Mactan Island

Filipinos are known for their hospitality and warmth. When interacting with locals in Lapu-Lapu City, a polite greeting like "Maayong adlaw" (Good day) or "Salamat" (Thank you) goes a long way. Respect local customs, especially when visiting religious sites like churches; dress modestly and be mindful of noise levels. Tipping is not mandatory but is appreciated for excellent service.

Lapu-Lapu City, like most tourist destinations in the Philippines, is generally safe for travelers. However, it's always wise to exercise caution. Be aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded areas, and avoid displaying expensive items openly. Keep your valuables secure and be wary of overly friendly strangers offering unsolicited help, as they might be leading you to a scam. For emergencies, the local police hotline is usually 911.

To enhance your travel experience, consider downloading a few essential apps. Grab is indispensable for ride-hailing and food delivery, offering convenience and transparent pricing. Google Maps is crucial for navigation, helping you find your way around the island and discover points of interest. This property would have been top of the line at one point but is showing signs of aging now. The area around it has a lot of construction and looks like it will be much better as construction finishes. The room was big and was clean, the view of the pool was great, the staff went above and beyond to make sure we had everything they could provide. The room it's self showed the same signs of aging though, just small things like a stiff sliding glass door and the room phone not working when we got there. I was only there for a couple of days and for what I needed it was a good fit, the staff more than made up for any of the minor inconveniences, and the price was good. I didn't go to the beach or use the pools so can't address that, the access to transportation was not the best but cab service was adequate, and once again the staff was outstanding.

I had hi expectations of the hotel as pictured looks fantastic. Reality was some what different. It's located about 30 mins from airport about 900 php. Nothing around the hotel. Hotel offers shuttle but when asked about getting one I was then told no needed to book 12 hours before. I had emailed then 3 days before but I got zero reply. My remaining memory yf the place is how I was shown a do not list for hotel. From where I need to enter the pool to no guests to stay . You will be required to hand over 1000php as a deposit for breakages. I had mine returned on departure. Rooms are very big . Very dated . Bed was very comfortable. Patio doors struggled to open then. Aircon worked well . Shower very very poor . Almost no water pressure . I did read that on other reviews. . Sinks also don't empty. I had breakfast . Id say very poor to what I'd had over re previous 2 weeks in different islands and hotels . Reception ladies very nice . When I left I struggled to get a taxi back to airport so give yourself plenty time as 8 don't think they are that keen to come out that far. I walked into across the road to the beach area..I'd give it a miss. It's so delapatated.

We really loved the staff(especially Edgar and Dean;)) and their willingness to do anything and everything to make our stay nice. That being said, because it is so far away from restaurants and stores it would have been nice if they had an actual restaurant/bar with more menu items and drinks. Also some sort of activities and or events to keep us more occupied or a bit more entertained. All in all a nice hotel that is comfortable but prepare to take a longer cab ride to just about anything.

The cost of that is it takes approximately 30 minutes by Taxi to the Airport and 45 minutes to an Hour to get to the Cebu City / Mandaue area. In my humble opinion it is a Fantastic Hotel! Love the Staff!!!! I would absolutely stay there again!!

First room given to us was loaded with mosquitoes. We ordered food which appeared delicious, but also appeared so late that it was cold. The kettle was not working and the mini fridge cupboard was off its hinges. The TV furniture was bubbling with damage. When I went to search for kitchen staff to complain there were four people messing about there and I could clearly see food left on the side on trays where they were cooking individual meals. The first two meals had flies around them. This hotel has a check in time up until midnight. We were told this as we arrived there quite late. I want an explanation from the owner/manager as to why we had to lay awake and endure the noisy check in arrival of 40 Koreans between 02.35 and 05.35 am. We had to listen to dragging chairs and slamming patio doors until 10.00 am next morning. We woke at around only to miss out on our breakfast. When I opened the shades to our pool patio I discovered that 2 Korean men were laid on our private loungers. I ensured that I took pictures as I intend to ensure that people are warned away from here. We checked out straight away in the morning. There was no way we were staying another night. It is also to be noted that the pool is only a shallow 3 feet deep, the resort itself is located in quite a dangerous area, and that the taxi will charge extra 100 pesos to collect you.

We walked into a room that was so musty and reeked of mold, that I could not stay in the room, had to go out in the patio after opening doors and curtains to get fresh air into the room. The aircon, a split unit, was pumping out moldy air. One reason is the entire facility is on wetland, so humidity is high. Also there was no bathroom exhaust fan operating, so all humidity from showering was trapped. I am somewhat acclimated, so I decided to simply turn off aircon during day and leave wide open the patio doors which afforded wonderful vacation view of swimming pool. The 2 condo towers in construction next door have certainly detracted from sense of "seashore" one often associates with waterfront of Mactan. The bedding was clean and comfortable, charging outlets. Good tv channels. Bathroom sink area spacious with large hot water tank. Shower was missing most of the appliance with only a hand wand to use: and I mean literally holding it with your hand because there was no hanger for the wand to be used as shower head.

The only draw back to this place has is the distance it is entertainment. At the current time the closest movie theater is more than a half hour away. Also if you wanted to eat somewhere else for dinner you are going to have to travel also. The breakfast here is great

It was a nice property, we felt safe because it was gated and it was very quiet. There is not much around. We ordered grab for our food. The room itself was in ok condition. The hot water did not work in our shower. The pool was very nice. We enjoyed the stay
