Highly recommended because price is reasonable, rooms are clean, the bed and linen was very comfy and smells good. The location is also good because there are a lot of restos and its near a shopping mall. They had a problem locating the correct booking, but they had it fixed asap. The house keeping in general are very nice and courteous especially the girl who delivered our breakfast to our room.

Your Travel Guide to Makati as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Makati from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

For Filipino travelers, reaching Makati from within the Philippines is a well-trodden path, with multiple convenient options available. If you're coming from Manila itself, whether from the northern or southern parts of the sprawling metropolis, the most common ways to get to Makati are via private car, taxi, ride-sharing services, or the MRT/LRT train systems.

Driving from areas like Quezon City or Pasay can take anywhere from 30 minutes to over an hour, depending heavily on traffic, with estimated fuel and toll costs varying. Utilizing the MRT, particularly the Ayala or Buendia stations, offers a more predictable travel time, usually around 30-45 minutes from common points like Cubao, with fares typically under PHP 30.

Traveling from Cebu or Davao to Metro Manila necessitates air travel. Numerous airlines operate daily flights to Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) from Mactan-Cebu International Airport and Francisco Bangoy International Airport in Davao. Flight durations are approximately 1.5 hours from Cebu and around 2 hours from Davao. Fares can fluctuate significantly based on booking time and season, but budget-conscious travelers can often find round-trip tickets for PHP 3,000 to PHP 7,000 if booked in advance.

Upon arrival at NAIA, you can take a taxi, a dedicated airport bus service, or a ride-sharing app to Makati, a journey that typically takes 30-60 minutes and costs around PHP 300-500. For those planning their trips, it's advisable to book flight tickets well in advance to secure better rates.

For those preferring land travel from more distant Luzon cities, inter-provincial buses are a reliable option. Major bus terminals in Metro Manila, such as those in Cubao or Pasay, serve routes from various provinces. Buses heading to Makati typically arrive at terminals within the city or nearby areas, from where you can take a short taxi or jeepney ride. Travel times can range from 4-10 hours or more, depending on the origin province.

Bus fares generally fall between PHP 800 to PHP 1,500 for a one-way ticket, offering a more economical, albeit longer, alternative to flying.

Best Time to Visit Makati

Makati, like much of Metro Manila, experiences a tropical climate characterized by distinct wet and dry seasons. The dry season generally runs from November to April, offering the most pleasant weather for exploring the city. During these months, you can expect sunny days with lower humidity and comfortable temperatures, making it ideal for walking around, visiting outdoor attractions, and enjoying the city's al fresco dining options.

This period, particularly from December to February, is considered the peak tourist season, meaning you'll encounter more visitors and potentially higher prices for accommodation and flights.

The wet season typically spans from May to October. While this period brings frequent rainfall, it's not usually a deterrent to travel. Showers are often heavy but short-lived, typically occurring in the afternoon or evening. Traveling during the wet season can be advantageous for budget-conscious travelers, as accommodation prices tend to be lower, and there are fewer crowds. The lush greenery around the city also becomes more pronounced.

For Filipino travelers who are flexible with their schedules and prefer a more relaxed pace, the shoulder months of the wet season, like May or October, can offer a good balance of decent weather and fewer tourists.

For a truly comfortable exploration of Makati's urban landscape, the dry season, specifically from November to February, is often recommended. The weather is consistently favorable, with average temperatures ranging from 24°C to 31°C. This period also coincides with many local festivals and holiday celebrations, adding a festive atmosphere to your visit.

While it is the peak season, the pleasant climate makes it the most sought-after time for both local and international tourists to experience the city's offerings, from its shopping malls to its vibrant nightlife.

Food and Dining Near Makati — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

Makati's culinary landscape is a reflection of the Philippines' diverse gastronomic heritage, with Poblacion, in particular, offering a concentrated array of flavors. When in this area, a must-try is **Adobo**, the unofficial national dish. While variations abound, a well-made pork or chicken adobo, slow-cooked in soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, and peppercorns, offers a savory, tangy, and deeply comforting taste that is uniquely Filipino.

Many local eateries and even some upscale restaurants in Makati serve excellent versions; look for places that have been recommended by locals for an authentic experience.

Another dish that showcases the Filipino palate's love for contrasting flavors is **Sinigang**. This sour soup, typically made with tamarind broth, is a refreshing counterpoint to the tropical heat. Whether it's pork, shrimp, or fish sinigang, the tartness from the broth, combined with an assortment of vegetables like kangkong, radish, and tomatoes, creates a complex and satisfying flavor profile. Many small carinderias and family-run restaurants around Makati offer hearty bowls of sinigang that are perfect for a hearty lunch.

For those seeking a more indulgent experience, **Lechon** is a celebratory dish that is a true Filipino favorite. This roasted whole pig, with its incredibly crispy skin and succulent meat, is a feast for the senses. While a whole lechon is usually for large gatherings, many restaurants in Makati offer lechon as a main course or in smaller portions, often served with a rich liver-based sauce.

The crackling skin alone is worth the experience, offering a delightful crunch with every bite.

Don't leave Makati without trying **Halo-Halo**, the ultimate Filipino dessert. This iconic treat is a delightful concoction of shaved ice, milk, sweet beans, fruits, jellies, leche flan, and ube ice cream, layered in a tall glass. It's a refreshing and visually appealing dessert that perfectly caps off any Filipino meal. You can find excellent halo-halo at various dessert shops and restaurants throughout Makati, offering a sweet and cooling respite from the city's climate.

Exploring these culinary delights is a significant part of the travel experience, and Makati provides ample opportunities to savor these authentic tastes.
