We were blown away by the view of Taal volcano and Lake Taal from our room, while dining on the restaurant’s patio, and while sitting by the pool. We enjoyed the spa for a massage and the sauna. Our stay was on a Mon/Tues and we almost had the place to ourselves. Highly recommend this place if you are visiting Tagaytay!

It is a beautiful new hotel with a great view of the Taal lake and volcano. Just be warned, the other reviews of the place are pretty accurate. It has soft opened and not everything is running as it is meant to. The exercise room for instance is not open yet, and the pool is not heated. The staff works hard to make your stay nice, and the breakfasts are good. The rooms are great, and the bathrooms have great water pressure in the shower, which makes it nice.

Your Travel Guide to Tagaytay City as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Tagaytay City from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

For the most convenient booking, book flight tickets through Traveloka and compare fares across major airlines.

For travelers coming from Manila, driving is a popular option. You can take the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) and connect to the Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR Tollway) towards Batangas, exiting for Tagaytay. The journey typically takes about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic. Toll fees can range from PHP 300 to PHP 500, depending on your vehicle and exact route. Planning your route and checking real-time traffic conditions can help optimize your travel time.

Public bus transportation is a more budget-friendly alternative. Major bus companies operate routes from terminals in Pasay, Cubao, and other parts of Metro Manila to Tagaytay City. Fares usually range from PHP 150 to PHP 250 per person, and the travel time is around 2 to 3 hours. Buses offer a convenient way to reach Tagaytay without the stress of driving and navigating. You can often book your bus tickets in advance or purchase them at the terminal.

For those coming from other major Philippine cities, flying into Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Manila is the most practical first step. From NAIA, you can then proceed to take a bus or arrange for a private transfer to Tagaytay City. If you're looking to book flight tickets, comparing options and booking in advance through platforms like Traveloka can help you secure better fares and ensure a smooth travel experience to Manila.

Best Time to Visit Tagaytay City

Tagaytay City experiences a cooler climate year-round compared to the lowlands, making it a pleasant destination any time. However, the dry season, from November to April, is generally considered the best time to visit. During these months, you can expect sunny days with lower humidity, perfect for outdoor activities and enjoying the scenic views of Taal Lake. This period also coincides with peak tourist season, so expect more crowds.

The wet season, from May to October, brings occasional rain showers. While this might deter some travelers, it also means fewer crowds and potentially lower accommodation rates. The rain can also enhance the lush greenery of the surrounding landscape. If you don't mind the possibility of occasional downpours, visiting during the wet season can offer a more tranquil experience. Always check the weather forecast before your trip and pack accordingly.

Food and Dining Near Tagaytay City — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

Tagaytay City is renowned for its culinary scene, offering a delightful array of dishes that showcase local flavors. A must-try is Bulalo, a hearty soup made from beef shanks and bone marrow, slow-cooked until tender. The rich, savory broth is perfect for Tagaytay’s cool weather. Many restaurants along the highway offer excellent versions, often with a view of Taal Lake.

Another local specialty is Sinigang na Baboy or Sinigang na Baka, a sour and savory soup that is a Filipino comfort food staple. The tamarind broth, combined with tender meat and fresh vegetables, provides a refreshing taste. You'll find this dish in most Filipino restaurants, each with its own subtle variations. For a sweet treat, take advantage of this on Buko Pie, a baked young coconut pie with a creamy, sweet filling and a flaky crust. It's a perfect pasalubong (souvenir) to bring home.

For those who enjoy grilled dishes, Tagaytay offers numerous spots for Inihaw na Liempo (grilled pork belly) or Inihaw na Manok (grilled chicken). The smoky flavor and tender texture are incredibly satisfying. Many local eateries and even some higher-end restaurants serve these popular Filipino barbecue items. Exploring the local markets and roadside stalls can also lead you to discover other regional delicacies and snacks that are unique to the area.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Tagaytay City

When visiting Tagaytay City, it's appreciated if you show respect for local customs. Filipinos are generally warm and hospitable, so a polite greeting and a friendly demeanor go a long way. Tipping is not mandatory but is always welcome for good service. Be mindful of noise levels, especially in residential areas or during late hours, to respect the peace of others.

Safety in Tagaytay City is generally good, but as with any travel destination, it's wise to remain aware of your surroundings. Keep your valuables secure and avoid displaying expensive items openly. If you encounter any issues, local emergency numbers are available, and the hotel staff can assist you in contacting the appropriate authorities. It's also a good idea to have the contact details of your hotel readily accessible.

For a smoother trip, consider downloading a few essential apps. A navigation app like Google Maps is indispensable for getting around. Ride-hailing apps can be useful for transportation if you're not driving. For communication, messaging apps like WhatsApp or Viber are widely used. Having these tools on your smartphone can significantly enhance your travel experience in Tagaytay City and beyond.

Stayed here with my family to celebrate my dad's 50th birthday. Overall, we were very happy with our stay and it certainly lived up to all the good reviews that I read about them before we arrived. Given that it is still in a soft opening stage, there is definitely room for improvement. Service was commendable despite the fact that it was fully booked when we checked in and they still managed to be very accommodating. However, the waiter that gave the surprise birthday cake to us during breakfast gave it to my mom instead of my dad when my mom was actually the one who reminded them about it! Not that big a deal since we just ended up laughing it off but just an example of the lack of attention to details. We only stayed in a deluxe room since this was technically a trial stay for us and though it had a decent view of the lake and of the pool, I would consider booking one of the rooms with a direct view of Taal next time. At least the breakfast area actually allows everyone to experience the amazing view that their hotel's location offers (it was the closest I have ever been to Taal volcano!). Glad we got to take advantage of their introductory rates and thankful that I found the best deal here on Hotels.com!

It was a very pleasant place to stay. Moreover, the place is a bit hard to find as it is in the midst of a residential area. The on-going construction is annoying and disruptive of my sleep. The staff got a great smile. Costumer service is outstanding! Complementary breakfast is fantastic!

Even in soft opening, my stay here was delightful. Everything from the views to the food to the colour scheme has been well designed. Staff went out of their way to be helpful, from bringing me a glass of water unasked as I watched the sunset to greeting me with a smile whenever we crossed paths. I had a great two-night, mid-week staycation in early March, in an L (lower floor) room on the right hand side. Did not leave the hotel from the time I checked in at 4pm on a Monday to my check out at noon on a Wednesday. I really wanted to stay longer, enjoying my balcony, the pool, the food, views, and sunsets. So I know that when the place opens fully in the second quarter of 2017 it will be stunning. I'm already wishing to come back and see how it has evolved.

The hotel has fantastic views of Taal Lake, and the hotel is walking distance to Sky Ranch and to several highly recommended restaurants, and the rooms at Escala are spacious and comfortable. The hotel is still finishing up the spa, gym, and terrace gardens...We can't wait to stay again when they complete the rest of their facilities.

Great hotel and friendly staff. They have to be careful though when they are checking ppl in. I booked 2 rooms for my mom and when they got there they told them they only had 1 room when the print out clearly said 2 rooms. I would've never known they paid for a 2nd room if my uncle didn't mention it. Was on the phone for almost 10 mins from California trying to get this sorted.
