Closest beachfront rooms of all the hotels we saw. Book the deluxe pool access room it’s worth it, literally right on the beachfront. It’s quiet here in Station 1, about a 7 minute beach walk to the center of Station 2. The staff is really great and helpful, booking activities for us at a reasonable rate. The beds are a bit firm but all in all, from my experience, this is where I’ll stay on my next visit

There are 2 properties. One is right on the beach which is great and the swimming pool is awesome as well. The other part of the hotel has the infinity pool but isn't on the beach. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Your Travel Guide to Boracay Island as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Boracay Island from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

For travelers from Manila and other major Philippine cities, flying is the most efficient way to reach Boracay Island. The primary gateways are Caticlan Airport (MPH) and Kalibo International Airport (KLO). Flights from Manila to Caticlan typically range from PHP 3,000 to PHP 7,000 for a round trip, depending on the airline and booking time, with a flight duration of about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Kalibo is often a more budget-friendly option, with flights sometimes costing PHP 2,500 to PHP 5,000, but it involves a longer land transfer of about 1.5 to 2 hours to Caticlan Jetty Port. You can book flight tickets conveniently through Traveloka.

Alternatively, for those who prefer a more scenic or budget-conscious journey, bus travel is an option, though significantly longer. Buses depart from major terminals in Metro Manila (like Cubao and Pasay) bound for Caticlan. The journey can take approximately 10 to 12 hours and fares typically range from PHP 1,000 to PHP 1,800 one-way. This option is best suited for travelers with ample time and a desire to see more of the country en route.

Driving your own vehicle is also possible, especially for those coming from Luzon. The route involves driving south towards Batangas, taking a ferry to Mindoro, and then driving across Mindoro to reach the southern coast, followed by another ferry to Caticlan. This is a multi-day journey with associated costs for fuel, ferries, and potential overnight stays. It offers the most flexibility but requires significant planning and time commitment.

Best Time to Visit Boracay Island

The ideal time to visit Boracay Island for most Filipino travelers is during the dry season, which generally runs from November to May. Within this period, the months of November to February offer pleasant weather with lower humidity, gentle breezes, and calm seas, making it perfect for beach activities and water sports. This is considered the peak season, so expect larger crowds and potentially higher prices for accommodations and flights.

For a balance of good weather and fewer crowds, consider visiting during the shoulder months of November or May. The period from March to May is also part of the dry season but can be hotter. The wet season, from June to October, brings a higher chance of rainfall and occasional typhoons, though Boracay can still be enjoyed during this time with fewer tourists and lower rates. However, for the most reliable sunshine and calm waters, the November to May window is generally recommended.

Food and Dining Near Boracay Island — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

No trip to Boracay is complete without indulging in fresh seafood. Many restaurants along White Beach offer a wide selection, from grilled fish and squid to prawns and crabs, often prepared to your liking. Look for establishments that display their catch of the day, allowing you to choose your meal directly. This is a characteristic Boracay dining experience that showcases the bounty of the surrounding waters.

Another local favorite is Kinilaw, the Filipino version of ceviche. Fresh raw fish, typically tuna or tanigue, is marinated in vinegar, onions, ginger, and chili peppers. It’s a refreshing and tangy dish, perfect for the tropical climate. You can find excellent Kinilaw at many local eateries and even some of the more upscale restaurants on the island, offering a taste of authentic Filipino flavors.

For a quick and satisfying bite, try Chori Burger, a local street food specialty. It features a flavorful chorizo sausage grilled and served in a soft bun, often with a tangy sauce. It’s a popular snack found at various stalls, especially around Station 1 and D'Mall, providing a delicious and convenient option for a casual meal while exploring the island.

Don't forget to sample Halo-Halo, the ultimate Filipino dessert. This popular treat is a delightful mix of shaved ice, milk, sweet beans, fruits, jellies, leche flan, and ube ice cream. It’s the perfect way to cool down and satisfy your sweet tooth after a day in the sun. Many cafes and restaurants offer their own versions, each with a unique touch.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Boracay Island

When visiting Boracay Island, it's important to be mindful of local customs and regulations. Respect the environment by properly disposing of trash and avoiding smoking or drinking in non-designated areas. The island has strict rules regarding plastic use and maintaining cleanliness, so be a responsible tourist. Always greet locals with a smile and a polite "Magandang araw" (Good day).

Safety is paramount for any traveler. While Boracay is generally safe, it's always wise to be aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded areas. Keep your valuables secure and avoid displaying large amounts of cash. For emergencies, the local police hotline is usually available through the front desk, and it's good to have the contact numbers for your embassy or consulate readily accessible.

For seamless travel, consider downloading a few essential apps. A reliable map application will help you navigate the island, while a currency converter can be useful for managing your budget. Ride-hailing apps are not prevalent on Boracay itself, as tricycles are the main transport, but having a communication app like WhatsApp or Messenger is helpful for staying in touch. Traveloka's app is also indispensable for managing your bookings and discovering local activities.

First the good: amazing staff, impeccable beach and water at Willys Rock, nice lobby and outdoor dining. Now the bad: room was old and in much need of updating. Paid for a “swim up” room, but the pool here is tiny and mostly covered. Room curtains do not open, so felt like staying in a cave. Bed very hard, was sore after the sleep. Thankfully only 2 days at this property.

DEFINITELY DO NOT Stay here. The pictures are NOT what the place is. Their excuse was that google has not updated the pictures and that the property is being renovated. An employee told me anonymous that they are using that excuse because they were told by higher management to say that. We had to relocted to another hotel because there is a very large area of Landfill and Squatters next to this building. I Have the pictures to prove. For the price they charge I would not have paid three dls. to stay here. I reported this issue and sent pictures to EXPEDIA and they could Not resolve my issue. I had to pay Alot more out of pocket to relocate to another hotel. PLEASE BEWARE Dont let this happen to you and you also loose out on your hard earned working money by staying here. Save yourself a headache and book at a different location.

The property is run down. I could have gotten better value for the price I paid. The bathroom. was old and dingy, the floor was a bit slimy, the showerhead was rusting and almost coming off the attachment. The only thing I liked was the staff and the temp of AC was cold enough for us and was a relief from the heat. However, the bathroom situation was a deal breaker for us, so even if we could not get a refund of our remaining payment for the rest of the stay, we decided to move to another hotel.

What I liked, it’s at the end of the beach so not a lot of traffic. View was spectacular. Staff was great though somewhat inexperienced. Included breakfasts were tasty but had the same menu every day. The AC was fantastic had to be turned down not to freeze that’s rare in the Philippines. As most of the time the property doesn’t match the pictures. There was mold in the shower not a lot but there. The biggest thing we did not like is no matter what we did there were mosquitoes in our room at night, not just a few a bunch. We solved that by wearing off to bed so we could actually sleep. They trimmed some of the trees on the beach and left the branches there for most of the day and the restaurant area was covered for 3 days by large aggressive biting red ants. They advertise lounges and umbrellas in the Expedia listing but none were provided.

Staff was great and very welcoming! Breakfast was great. Room was fair, but could have been better. Location was very good/quiet. Just 1 km walk down the beach and youre in the thick of the bars/shopping.

The surrounding areas are abandoned buildings. There's no hot water in our 1st room. Very limited breakfast choice.
