If you are traveling with pets, you will need to make alternative arrangements for them before your trip to Boracay Island. If your room isn't ready, you can utilize the luggage storage facility to keep your belongings safe while you start exploring the nearby White Beach or grab a bite at The Sunny Side Cafe.

The check-out time at Greenyard Inn is before 11:00. This allows the hotel to prepare the rooms for incoming guests. If you wish to have a later check-out, it's advisable to speak with the front desk staff the day before your departure. Late check-out requests are subject to availability and may incur an additional fee, but it's always worth asking to see if arrangements can be made.

Your Travel Guide to Boracay Island as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Boracay Island from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

Traveling to Boracay Island from Manila and other major Philippine cities is most efficiently done by air. Flights typically land at either Caticlan Airport (MPH), which is closest to the jetty port, or Kalibo International Airport (KLO). Airfare can range from PHP 3,000 to PHP 8,000 or more, depending on the season and how far in advance you book. From Manila, the flight to Caticlan is about 1 hour and 15 minutes, while to Kalibo it's around 1 hour and 30 minutes. You can easily book flight tickets on Traveloka for convenient travel.

From Caticlan Airport, a short tricycle ride (around PHP 50-100) will take you to the Caticlan Jetty Port. From there, a 15-minute boat ride (PHP 50 terminal fee, PHP 150-200 boat fare, plus PHP 100 environmental fee) will bring you to Boracay's Cagban Port. If you fly into Kalibo, you'll need to take a bus or van (around PHP 200-300) to Caticlan Jetty Port, which takes about 1.5 to 2 hours.

For those preferring land travel, buses are available from Manila to Caticlan, but this is a very long journey, often exceeding 12 hours, with fares ranging from PHP 1,000 to PHP 1,800. Driving your own vehicle is also an option, involving a ferry from Batangas to Caticlan, but it's a considerable undertaking. For most Filipino travelers, flying is the most practical and time-efficient method to reach Boracay.

Best Time to Visit Boracay Island

The ideal time to visit Boracay Island for most Filipino travelers is during the dry season, which generally runs from November to May. This period offers sunny skies, calm seas, and lower humidity, making it perfect for beach activities and island hopping. The peak months within this season are typically December to February, when the weather is at its finest, but also when crowds are largest and prices for accommodation and flights tend to be higher.

The shoulder months, such as November and May, can offer a good balance of pleasant weather and fewer tourists. If you prefer a more relaxed atmosphere and potentially better deals, consider visiting during these times. The Amihan season (northeast monsoon) from November to May brings calmer waters and sunny conditions, ideal for enjoying White Beach.

The Habagat season (southwest monsoon), from June to October, brings stronger winds and occasional rain. While this period can see lower prices and fewer crowds, the weather can be unpredictable, and some water activities might be limited due to sea conditions. However, for surfers, the months of October to March can be excellent for catching waves on the island's eastern side.

Food and Dining Near Boracay Island — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

Boracay Island offers a diverse culinary scene, blending local Filipino flavors with international influences. When you're here, make sure to try fresh seafood, often grilled to perfection right on the beach. Look for stalls and restaurants offering *kinilaw*, a Filipino ceviche made with raw fish marinated in vinegar, onions, and spices – it's a refreshing taste of the sea.

Another must-try is *La Paz Batchoy*, a hearty noodle soup originating from Iloilo, which is popular across the Philippines. Its rich broth, tender pork, and savory toppings make it a comforting meal, especially after a day in the sun. You can find variations of this dish in many local eateries on the island.

Don't leave without sampling *Halo-Halo*, a fitting choice for Filipino dessert. This delightful concoction of shaved ice, milk, sweet beans, fruits, jellies, and topped with leche flan and ube ice cream is the perfect way to cool down. It’s a colorful and delicious treat that embodies the sweet spirit of Filipino desserts.

For a taste of grilled goodness, try *Inasal*, particularly chicken *inasal*. Marinated in a mixture of calamansi, pepper, and annatto oil, then grilled over charcoal, it has a distinct smoky flavor and tender texture. Many restaurants on the island serve this popular dish, often with a side of garlic rice and soy-vinegar dipping sauce.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Boracay Island

When visiting Boracay Island, it's important to be mindful of local customs. Filipinos are generally warm and hospitable, so a polite greeting like "Magandang araw" (Good day) goes a long way. Respect the environment by disposing of trash properly and avoiding the use of single-use plastics where possible. The island has strict environmental regulations to preserve its beauty.

For safety, always be aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded areas. Keep your valuables secure and avoid displaying large amounts of cash. The local police and tourist assistance centers are available if you need help. It's also wise to stay hydrated, especially during the hotter months, and use sun protection. Emergency contact numbers for local authorities and your embassy (if applicable) should be saved on your phone.

Several apps can enhance your Boracay experience. A reliable map app like Google Maps is essential for navigation. For communication, messaging apps like WhatsApp or Messenger are widely used. Consider downloading a currency converter app if you're dealing with different currencies. For booking activities and tours, Traveloka's app is a convenient tool to explore and book attraction tickets or island hopping tours.

A great place to stay. The room was lovely, comfortable bed, decent enough shower and toilet facilities. Also included a fridge which was a bonus for keeping water etc warm. About a 7-min walk to the beach. The staff were very friendly and couldn’t do enough for you, the breakfast in the morning was cooked to order and was great. Only criticism would be the WiFi either doesn’t work or is very slow in the room (could have just been ours). When we asked about it, we were given a ‘packet WiFi’ to help improve the situation, but it didn’t work. So whenever we needed WiFi we would have to walk to the beach. Would recommend if the WiFi doesn’t bother you too much!

Though tucked away from the stores and the beachfront, it's a GREAT deal for your money. The staff were super friendly and helpful and the rooms were bigger! Sure it's more luxurious to stay beach front and probably more convenient to stay near the shops, but this hotel's distance from it all is actually its strongest suit. It's only really 5 minutes away from the beach yet it's so much more affordable. Overall a GREAT hotel. Wouldn't hesitate to come back!

This is a very nice, small hotel that is perfect for people that want a quiet spot near the beach but away from the booming sounds of the nightlife. It has very friendly staff and would be perfect for families. It's about a 2-3 minute walk to the beach, near Station 3.

Greenlands is a comfortable and clean place, with large room(s?)and whisper-quiet a/c. Staff are friendly and attentive. Wifi was pretty good. The gardens are well kept and appealing. The backup generator was handy, with a typhoon knocking out the mains power a couple of times. Whilst not far from the beach, it was hard to find, through a series of alleyways.

Nice, clean hotel with big rooms. Only negative side was that they gave us wrong room and made us change the room when we arrived back to the hotel after 12pm even though the hotel was not full... Otherwise nice and quiet place.

If you get dropped off the main road, the hotel is not very well marked and not easy to find. It is close to the beach (less than 5 minutes walk)

Good value hotel, friendly staff, close to most things. If you are not the 5 star resort type of people this place is awesome. Would definitely stay again.

We had a wonderful time at the Greenyard Inn. This is a little oasis in Boracay that we highly recommend. Myra and all the staff were excellent hosts.

Large clean room with a kitchen and short walk to the beach. Multiple convenient stores and restaurants nearby. Friendly staff clean the room every day and delivered a nice breakfast to my balcony every morning.

5/5 rating on all counts except a 4/5 for hotel facilites and condition due to constantly extremely frustratingly poor wifi and very average lunch/dinner menu. (Breakfast exellrnt though).

Nice small hotel tucked away among some back streets. So quiet but initially a little difficult to find. Huge clean room, with a kitchen and spacious balcony. Helpful friendly staff. Only a few minutes walk from beach, bars and restaurants.
