Numerous airlines operate daily flights from Manila, Davao, and other key hubs. Flight durations typically range from 1 hour to 1 hour and 30 minutes. Fares can vary significantly based on the season and how far in advance you book, but budget-friendly options can often be found for around PHP 2,000 to PHP 4,000 for a round trip if booked strategically. You can easily book flight tickets on Traveloka.

For travelers coming from nearby Visayas and Mindanao cities, ferry services are also an option, though less common for those coming from Luzon. If you are traveling overland from other parts of Cebu island, buses are readily available. The main bus terminals in Cebu City connect to Lapu-Lapu City. The journey by bus is relatively short, usually taking around 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on traffic. Bus fares are very affordable, typically ranging from PHP 30 to PHP 50. Best Time to Visit Lapu-Lapu City, Mactan Island

Lapu-Lapu City, like much of Cebu, enjoys a tropical climate with warm temperatures year-round. The best time to visit is generally during the dry season, which runs from December to May. During these months, you can expect less rainfall and more sunshine, making it ideal for beach activities, island hopping, and exploring the outdoors. The weather is typically pleasant, with average temperatures hovering around 28-30 degrees Celsius.

The wet season, from June to November, brings a higher chance of rain, often in the form of short, intense downpours. While this period might see fewer tourists and potentially lower accommodation prices, it can sometimes disrupt outdoor plans. However, even during the wet season, there are often plenty of sunny periods, and the rain can offer a refreshing break from the heat. For travelers seeking the most reliable weather for outdoor adventures, the dry season is the preferred choice.

Food and Dining Near Lapu-Lapu City, Mactan Island — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

No trip to Cebu is complete without indulging in Lechon, often hailed as the best in the Philippines. This roasted pig is known for its incredibly crispy skin and succulent, flavorful meat. While you can find it in many places, seeking out local eateries in Lapu-Lapu City that specialize in Lechon will offer an authentic taste. It’s a celebratory dish perfect for sharing with family and friends.

Another Cebuano culinary highlight is Kinilaw, the Filipino version of ceviche. Fresh raw fish, typically tuna or tanigue, is marinated in vinegar, onions, ginger, chili peppers, and calamansi juice. The tangy and spicy flavors are incredibly refreshing, especially in the tropical heat. It’s a light yet flavorful appetizer that showcases the freshness of local seafood.

For seafood lovers, Grilled Pusit (grilled squid) is a must-try. Freshly caught squid is often marinated and then grilled to perfection, resulting in a tender and smoky dish. It’s commonly served with a side of soy sauce, vinegar, and calamansi for dipping. Many beachfront restaurants and local eateries offer this delicious preparation.

Don't forget to try dried mangoes, a popular pasalubong (souvenir) from Cebu. These sweet and chewy treats are made from locally grown mangoes and are a delightful snack or gift to bring home. You can find them in various shops and supermarkets throughout Lapu-Lapu City and Mactan Island.

Good: Close to supermarket Lovely little garden Bad: Dirty bed sheet with hairs, sands and stains (not sure if it was actually changed after the last stay) Poor attitude from the receptionists (obviously chit chatting is more important than serving customers; didn't even bother to tell me the breakfast hours and the need of pre-ordering when i was checking in, nor letting me know that the check out procedure was completed while i stood in front of the reception like a fool, let alone saying thank you or goodbye)

Great room and bathroom, poor water pressure, you’ve got to ask if you want your room serviced and then it’s barely touched. Breakfast is served when they want to. Outside events down by the private beach can be especially loud and go on till 1-2am on Saturdays and Sundays. Not much to do /see nearby

Wanted to spend a weekend in Mactan. There was a party at the hotel with live music and karaoke nonstop. Went to bed with music, woke up with music. The party appeared to be for the whole weekend so we decided to check out, lose two nights, and move to another hotel. Best decision we made. Will not go back nor recommend Karancho.

This hotel has a mixture of old and new rooms. Our second floor new room was nice. The also have a small beach for overnight guests and day use. Close to several good restaurants. The staff had good composure while dealing with a city wide failure of the water system. Room price was reasonable. AC, hot water, large towels, fridge, fruit in the room and included breakfast. Best for couples.

Not too fancy, but the rooms were clean, the AC worked and the breakfast was good. I chose this hotel over some of the higher priced alternatives in Mactan because I was diving most of the time and did not need luxury accommodations. I was a little disappointed in the beach. For beach a beach hotel it was disappointing. the beach was small and they rent out cabanas to the locals to use so it was quite busy. If I wanted a real beach with a little tranquility I would recommend staying next door at the Cebu White Sand resort or Blue Water Maribago. those resorts are about twice the price but they offer the resort experience I would want if I was spending all day at the property.

The Karancho has nice comfortable rooms, with balcony dining. The service is always great. The Karancho has a beach and easy access to dinning, malls, transportation. You are never very far from anything. The staff is very hospitable. They offer breakfast. You are not stuck in the room like most hotels until you decide to go out. My choice every time. Excellent.

Iwould never recommend the hotel to any non partying Philippino travellers. This place is the lical hang out with 200-300 non guests using the facilities for Karaoke parties until 5am every morning. Yiur room is les than 20 meters from the party. The management xoukd care less about your need for aleep. They make more money by charging for thier Karaoke party huts. Teuly if you want any sleep, do not stay here.

Resort was average in need or repair. Very few people around but has a on duty guard. Beach is low standard with dirty looking water. Should cost less for rooms as a result of low standard. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

Accommodating staff but with lot people and noise from the cottages. No smoking should be strictly implemented with signages. Lots of garbage at the beach and sea water. Provide garbage containers for recyclable and non recyclable garbage at strategic areas and orient the guests regarding this to maitain cleanliness at the beach and sea water.most of plastic bottles and food wrappers are seen under the sea.

Only issue - AC didn’t cool the room so they gave us a fan. People are nice and friendly, I think it was worth the price. It’s a small little spot, so there were no crowds, very peaceful, that’s what I wanted. I would stay there again
