Room was clean but there are a LOT of ants. Ensure you bring your own toiletries as they don’t provide any. Food options are very minimal in the area. Aircon worked great! It’s 200 pesos each way to any station drop off or back to the property (ensure you agree before you get in to the tuck-tuck, some will try to overcharge you). It’s about a 10ish minute ride to the GMall. If you’re looking for something off the main tourist area this is the place.

This is in Tagbisaan which is a few minutes away from the main stations, but talk about a hidden gem. At first I thought I had made a mistake since jt seemed to far, but it wasn't anything that a HOHO bus pass couldn't fix. It's good for 1-3 days and can be purchased right at the front desk. The owner herself was there to check me in and the staff was so prompt and professional when tending to my needs. It also seems like I got a free room upgrade. The hotel sits right on a dare I say private beach. I mean it's public, but it might as well be private due to how exclusive it feels and the view is just out of this world stunning. Two thumbs way up!

Your Travel Guide to Boracay Island as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Boracay Island from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

The most common way for Filipino travelers to reach Boracay Island from Manila and other major cities is by air. You'll typically fly into either Caticlan Airport (MPH) or Kalibo International Airport (KLO). Flights to Caticlan are generally more convenient as it's closer to the jetty port, while flights to Kalibo may be cheaper but involve a longer land transfer to Caticlan.

From Manila, you can find numerous flights daily. Prices can vary significantly depending on the season and how far in advance you book flight tickets. Expect fares to range from PHP 2,000 to PHP 8,000 or more for a round trip. The flight duration is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. Once you land, you'll proceed to the Caticlan Jetty Port for your boat transfer to Boracay.

For budget-conscious travelers, bus travel is an option, though it's considerably longer. From Manila, you can take a bus to Caticlan, which can take around 10-12 hours. The fare is significantly lower, typically ranging from PHP 1,000 to PHP 1,500 one way. This option is best suited for those who have ample time and prefer to save on airfare.

Best Time to Visit Boracay Island

Boracay Island experiences two main seasons: the dry season (Amihan) and the wet season (Habagat). The dry season, which runs from November to May, is generally considered the best time to visit. During these months, the weather is characterized by calm seas, sunny skies, and gentle breezes, making it ideal for beach activities, swimming, and water sports.

The peak season typically falls between December and February, coinciding with Christmas and Chinese New Year holidays. During this period, expect larger crowds and higher accommodation prices. For a balance of good weather and fewer tourists, consider visiting during the shoulder months of November, March, or April. The wet season, from June to October, can bring occasional rains and stronger winds, though it's also a time when you might find better deals on flights and hotels.

Food and Dining Near Boracay Island — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

Filipino cuisine is a highlight of any trip to the Philippines, and Boracay Island offers plenty of opportunities to savor local flavors. One dish you absolutely must try is Kinilaw, the Filipino version of ceviche. Fresh raw fish is marinated in vinegar, onions, ginger, and chili peppers, offering a tangy and refreshing taste that perfectly complements the tropical climate.

Another local favorite is La Paz Batchoy, a hearty noodle soup originating from Iloilo. This rich broth, filled with pork, shrimp, and various toppings, is a comforting and flavorful meal, especially after a long day of exploring. You can find authentic La Paz Batchoy in many local eateries around the island.

Don't leave Boracay without trying fresh seafood, often grilled to perfection. Many restaurants offer a wide selection of fish, squid, and shellfish caught daily. Pair it with a side of garlic rice and a dipping sauce for a truly satisfying Filipino meal. For a sweet treat, Halo-Halo is a must. This popular dessert is a delightful mix of shaved ice, milk, sweet beans, fruits, jellies, and topped with leche flan and ube ice cream.

For a taste of something uniquely Filipino and often found in beach destinations, try Chori Burger. This grilled chorizo sausage served in a bun, often with a spicy sauce, is a popular street food snack that's both delicious and convenient for a quick bite while enjoying the beach.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Boracay Island

When visiting Boracay Island, it's important to be mindful of local customs. Filipinos are generally warm and hospitable, so a friendly greeting and a smile go a long way. Respect local traditions and be aware of dress codes when visiting religious sites. It's also customary to greet elders with "po" and "opo" as a sign of respect.

Safety is paramount for any traveler. Boracay is generally a safe destination, but it's always wise to take precautions. Keep your valuables secure, be aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded areas, and avoid walking alone in poorly lit places late at night. For emergencies, the local police hotline is usually available through your accommodation or local information centers.

To enhance your travel experience, consider downloading a few essential apps. A reliable navigation app like Google Maps is crucial for getting around the island. For communication, messaging apps like WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger are widely used. You might also find local transportation apps helpful for booking rides, though tricycles are the primary mode of transport on the island and usually operate on a fixed-fare system.

It's also a good idea to have a currency converter app handy for easy price comparisons. This place was terrible, and overpriced for what it was. Bare bones, they didn’t even have blankets, our room felt and looked like a prison cell. Absolutely NOT a place for a romantic getaway. This place is geared for families with kids. It was very noisy the entire stay between the screaming kids, barking dogs, and ongoing building maintenance where they were hammering every single day. NOT restful at all. The only saving grace it had was that it was on the beach, however it was surrounded by MUCH nicer properties. This little run down dump is clearly a place where locals with big families go. So again watch out. If you want quiet, it is NOT here. Ps - the rooms weren’t cleaned on any night and there was almost no staff around this place the whole time either.

This is a hidden gem in Boracay. This place has all you need for a quiet and relaxing stay. Rooms were clean and comfortable and you are literally steps away from the beach. The staff were extremely helpful. They even got us freshly baked local bread in the morning and grilled fresh fish from the sea for a small fee. We loved the laid back ambiance of the area, away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Boracay.

If you want REST while in BORACAY this is the place. This homey, clean & BEACH FRONT resort is highly recommendable. 10/5 If given a chance i will again stay here. & let my kids enjoy their “private beach” sans the crowd

Very unique location, very quite, tranquil and next to beach. Ideal location for snorkeling, white sandy beach. Away from the crowed beach and all other big hotels.
