Location is near the highway. Cagsawa Ruins is just a walking distance, Daraga Church and Sumlang lake are just one ride away. You can view Mayon volcano from their roof deck. Their staff are very nice and accommodating, our room is clean and comfortable except that the blanket they provided are so small and thin. I just want to suggest to include breakfast on their room rates.

Perfect spot for the Mayon Volcano view. It's located near a 24-hour McDonald. The A/C in room A5 did not cool the room.

Friendly and welcoming staff. The location is perfect for viewing the mayon volcano. The roof top was perfect if you want to relax at night to view the mayon. They have a hammock. For the price, it's a good place to relax after exploring nearby pattractions. Walking distance to Cagsawa ruins. The only discomfort is, it's not sound proof and since along the national highway, you'll hear the loud noise of cars passing by. But will come back again , given the chance.

The flight duration is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Fares can vary significantly depending on the season and how far in advance you book, but you can typically expect to pay anywhere from PHP 2,000 to PHP 5,000 for a round trip if you book strategically. From Bicol International Airport, Mayon Lodging House is a short taxi or tricycle ride away. To find the best deals on flights, it's always a good idea to book your flight through Traveloka.

For those who prefer or require a more budget-friendly option, traveling by bus from Manila to Daraga is a viable choice. Major bus terminals in Metro Manila, such as those in Cubao and Pasay, offer daily trips to Albay. The journey is considerably longer, taking approximately 9 to 12 hours, depending on traffic and the number of stops. Several reputable bus companies ply this route, offering different service levels from standard to executive.

Ticket prices generally range from PHP 800 to PHP 1,200 for a one-way trip. This option is ideal for travelers who want to save on airfare and don't mind a longer travel time, allowing them to see more of the Philippine countryside.

Travelers coming from other major hubs like Cebu or Davao can also reach Daraga, primarily through air travel. Flights from Mactan-Cebu International Airport or Francisco Bangoy International Airport in Davao typically connect through Manila or directly to Bicol International Airport if available. The travel time will depend on the layover duration if connecting. Alternatively, for the adventurous and those with ample time, ferry services combined with bus travel are also options, though these are significantly more time-consuming.

For most travelers from these cities, booking a flight to Bicol International Airport is the most efficient method.

Best Time to Visit Daraga

Daraga, Albay experiences a tropical climate, characterized by warm temperatures and humidity throughout the year. The dry season generally runs from November to May, offering the most favorable conditions for outdoor activities and sightseeing. During these months, you can expect less rainfall, making it easier to explore attractions like the Cagsawa Ruins and enjoy the scenic views of Mayon Volcano without interruption.

This period, particularly from December to February, is considered peak tourist season, so expect more crowds and potentially higher accommodation prices.

The wet season typically spans from June to October. While this period brings more frequent rainfall, it doesn't necessarily mean constant downpours. Often, the rain comes in short, intense bursts, usually in the afternoon, leaving the rest of the day clear. Traveling during the wet season can be advantageous for budget-conscious travelers as accommodation and flight prices tend to be lower, and there are fewer tourists. The lush, green landscapes during this time can also be quite beautiful.

For those who don't mind the possibility of occasional rain and prefer a more tranquil travel experience, the shoulder months of June or October can offer a good balance.

For a truly comfortable visit, aiming for the months between November and May is generally recommended. This period aligns with the dry season and offers the best chance for clear skies, which is ideal for appreciating the grandeur of Mayon Volcano. However, if you are looking for a more relaxed atmosphere and potentially better deals, traveling just before or after the peak season, such as late October or early November, or late April to May, can be a wise choice.

Regardless of when you visit, always be prepared for the tropical weather by packing light clothing, rain gear, and sun protection.

Food and Dining Near Daraga — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

No visit to Albay is complete without indulging in the region's culinary delights, and Daraga offers a gateway to these flavors. A must-try is Bicol Express, a dish that perfectly embodies the region's love for spicy and savory combinations. Another local specialty that showcases the unique ingredients of the region is Laing. The vinegar tenderizes the meat, and the coconut milk adds a subtle richness. It’s a refreshing and flavorful dish, often served as an appetizer or a light main course.

You can find this delicacy in more traditional Filipino restaurants in the area. Exploring the local markets can also lead you to vendors selling various kakanin (rice cakes) and local sweets, offering a delightful end to any meal.

Good experience if you are on a budget. It is near to Cagsawa ruins and sumlong lake. no free breakfast but there is a canteen just beside the building. I also loved the view from rooftop. perfect view for mayon especially during sunrise. the aircon room is not that fancy. no fridge, don't expect complimentary items other than towels, soap and shampoo. there is also a parking space available both cars and motorbikes. the only issue is that their wifi is not available 24 hours. it is turned off most of the time. mobile data gets slower as you move away from the windows.

Best location if you are going to Mt. Mayon. Clean rooms, with own CR (No hot water yet, I hope they install soon, and cabinets to put stuff in)l. Their roof deck is the best for chilling, drinking, having coffee or even cooking your own food. You just need to tell the front desk and pay the fee for cooking (not sure how much - you can buy meat in the nearby store). They provide free water as well, so bring those refillable water bottles and avoid buying disposable water bottles. Place is about 30 mins from Legazpi City but with nearby eateries where you can have good food. (Lomi is 100 pesos good for 3 people) You can eat at Cagsawa Ruins if you like to try something else. Very easy to get jeepneys. Try not to stay at Room B1 as it may get a little noisy.
