Our stay at the Mövenpick was a bit farther out than expected. The staff were respectful, and even with a very small team, they worked hard to take care of guests. Check‑in was smooth, but the hotel is clearly understaffed. There are three check‑in counters, yet only one person was working. The same was true for transportation — just one staff member handling all arrivals and departures. The lobby is pretty but extremely small. When I asked about pandesal, our waiter brought us three warm rolls on our last night. We ate on‑site for lunch and dinner. The food was excellent — the Bulgogi was better than versions we’ve had in the U.S., and the hamburgers were great. However, there were no Filipino dishes on the menu, and the in‑room dining menu was also entirely American and international. Some of the advertising did not match reality. The hotel does not have a shuttle, even though it was advertised. The Ibiza restaurant was under construction. The private beach was very small, and the pool area was also limited. The hotel is much smaller than it appears online. We felt very safe. Security included a K9 and a checkpoint for every Grab vehicle. The bathroom was one of the best we’ve seen — high water pressure, consistently warm water, and very clean. The amenities felt Americanized. The toilet was a little different from U.S. standards, but expected internationally. The overall experience felt very Americanized.

How to Get to Lapu-Lapu City, Mactan Island from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

The most convenient way to reach Lapu-Lapu City, Mactan Island from Manila and other major Philippine cities is by air. Mactan-Cebu International Airport (CEB) is the primary gateway. Major airlines like Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, and AirAsia operate frequent flights from Manila (MNL) to CEB. Flight durations typically range from 1 hour and 15 minutes to 1 hour and 30 minutes. Fares can vary significantly based on booking time and airline, but budget-friendly options can often be found for around PHP 2,000 to PHP 4,000 for a round trip if booked in advance.

For those preferring land and sea travel, reaching Cebu involves a longer journey. From Manila, you can take a ferry to Cebu City, which is a multi-day trip. Alternatively, you can take a bus to a southern port in Luzon and then a ferry. However, given the distance and time involved, flying is by far the most practical and time-efficient method for most Filipino travelers. Booking your flight early is key to securing better prices.

If you are traveling from other parts of the Visayas or Mindanao, flights to Mactan-Cebu International Airport are also readily available. For instance, flights from Cagayan de Oro (CGY) or Davao (DVO) are common. Seafood is abundant and fresh in Mactan. Grilled seafood, like prawns, squid, and various fish, is a staple. Many beachfront restaurants offer a "paluto" style where you can select your fresh catch and have it prepared to your liking. Good location, not far from the airport. Room was nice, I was upgraded to a one-bedroom suite. The building itself could use an upgrade, for example the hallway carpets smelled a little musty, but the staff were very friendly and helpful. Nice chocolate buffet and happy hour. Decent choice for when in Cebu and want to be near the airport.

The bathroom was old, disappointing. The blue tiles were cracked and not much counter space to put toiletries or makeup bag. The air conditioning was so cold, so when we turned it off, the following morning there was condensation in room and the floors and ceiling were moist. Drops of water from ceiling due to condensation. Near the pool you could smell sewage.

We had a wonderful stay in this hotel. From check in to check out. Staff were top notch when it comes to hospitality. What’s really special is they upgraded our rooms. The place is clean and breakfast is wonderful. We will stay again.

Beautiful hotel, pool and beach. Sails restaurant great for either buffet or ala carte menus options. Staff is attentive to all guest needs at all times. Special shoutout to Lester and Gio. They ensured we got a take away meal for our early whale shark pickup.

Good sized room. Very clean and housekeeping so a great job to keep it that way. Comfortable bed. All the staff are friendly and welcoming. Only issue was the water in the bathroom was generally always cold and tepid at best.

Beautiful property with an amazing pool and beachfront area. The service was excellent and they did a great job at accommodating our request for gluten-free breakfast items. There are also some excellent restaurants within easy walking distance to the hotel. And we absolutely loved the 3 PM chocolate hour.
