We loved our stay here, it was situated perfectly on the otherside of Boracay away from all the noise of the stations. The view of Bulabog beach from the room was amazing. It was nice watching all the kite surfers. The popular White beach was less than a 10 minute walk away, through the town centre. There are lots of restaurants and shops nearby. The staff were so friendly and helpful, would highly recommend!

Your Travel Guide to Boracay Island as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Boracay Island from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

Traveling to Boracay Island from Manila is most efficiently done by air. Flights to Caticlan Airport (MPH) are the quickest, with fares typically ranging from PHP 3,000 to PHP 7,000 for a round trip, depending on the season and how far in advance you book flight. The flight duration is approximately one hour. Alternatively, flights to Kalibo International Airport (KLO) are often cheaper, with fares around PHP 2,500 to PHP 5,000, but require a longer land transfer of about 1.5 to 2 hours to reach Caticlan Jetty Port.

For those preferring a more economical option, bus travel is available from Manila to Caticlan. This journey is considerably longer, taking around 10 to 12 hours, with bus fares generally ranging from PHP 1,000 to PHP 1,500 one way. This option is best suited for travelers who have ample time and wish to save on airfare. Driving your own vehicle is also possible, involving a ferry crossing, but is a lengthy undertaking.

Regardless of your chosen mode of transport to the Caticlan Jetty Port, remember to factor in the environmental and terminal fees upon arrival, which are typically around PHP 300-400 per person. From the port, a 15-minute boat ride will bring you to Boracay Island. This period offers sunny skies and calm seas, perfect for enjoying the island's beaches and water activities. The peak season falls between December and February, when the weather is at its finest, but expect larger crowds and higher accommodation prices.

For a more relaxed atmosphere and potentially better rates, consider visiting during the shoulder months of November and April. The weather is still generally good, but there are fewer tourists. The period from May to October is the wet season, characterized by occasional rainfall and stronger winds, particularly on the eastern side of the island like Bulabog Beach, which is popular for water sports.

Food and Dining Near Boracay Island — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

No trip to Boracay is complete without savoring fresh seafood. Many beachfront restaurants offer a variety of grilled fish, prawns, and squid, often prepared simply to highlight their natural flavors. Look for establishments that allow you to choose your seafood directly from the display and have it cooked to your preference, a common and delicious practice on the island.

Another Filipino favorite you must try is La Paz Batchoy, a hearty noodle soup with pork, shrimp, and vegetables. Its rich, savory broth is incredibly comforting, especially after a day in the sun. You can find authentic versions in local eateries scattered across the island, offering a taste of home with an island twist.

Don't forget to sample Halo-Halo, a fitting choice for Filipino dessert. This delightful concoction of shaved ice, milk, sweet beans, fruits, jellies, and topped with leche flan and ube ice cream is a refreshing treat. It’s the perfect way to cool down and indulge your sweet tooth on a warm Boracay afternoon.

For a taste of local street food, try Kinilaw, a Filipino ceviche made with raw fish marinated in vinegar, onions, ginger, and chili. It’s a zesty and flavorful appetizer that perfectly complements the tropical setting. Many small eateries and even some bars offer their own unique take on this popular dish.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Boracay Island

When visiting Boracay Island, it's important to be mindful of local customs. Filipinos are generally warm and hospitable, so a friendly greeting and a respectful attitude go a long way. Dress modestly when visiting religious sites or local communities away from the main tourist areas. Always ask for permission before taking photos of people.

Safety is a priority for travelers. Boracay is generally a safe destination, but it's always wise to be aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded areas. I absolutely loved my stay at Palassa. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The property was very nice, the room and view was amazing. My only gripe with my stay was the noise outside from the locals starting at 5am. I don’t know why there are people outside socializing so early, but it woke me up every single night. Talking loudly, vendors shouting for someone to buy their products at the crack of dawn. It was absolutely horrible. I couldn’t get any rest.

Ground floor unit directly on the street. Very loud street nouce and impossible to sleep. Could have rather stayed in a no-view room since you need to have your curtains closed at all time unless you want to be on display.

The location was not directly in front of the beach as depicted in the photos, it was one of the low-rise buildings so there were no view from the apartment (expected to wake up to a view of sun sand and sea..). It’s located at the quieter beach which was nice and peaceful, and a 10-min walk to the popular beach. The place was furnished modern and nicely, but the sheets and towels were not that clean. We had some issues with the drainage but i guess that depends on which apartment you get. The living room was smaller than expected and had no television (it was in the room). The wifi was slow. The breakfast food was decent, service was alright and they do provide beach towels upon request at the front desk.

Clean, value for money, perfectly quiet location, literally on the beach. What else more could you ever want?

Great view of the beach and moon. Kind staff, quiet section of the island but only 5min walk to busy part or quick ride.

Ground floor unit directly on the street. Very loud street nouce and impossible to sleep. Could have rather stayed in a no-view room since you need to have your curtains closed at all time unless you want to be on display.

Very simple place with nice walkway and kite surfers and kite sailing in the bay. Easy walk to station 2 where swimming is much better and beach is deep and clean

Love this property! It's just a few steps aways from the water. It's quite at night. It's clean, convenient and there's not a lot of people like the other side of Boracay.

Property is very nice and staff was nice and responsive but no wifi which 1 was there 7 days and could not use my cell phone or laptop to conduct business. They make you believe they have wifi and each evening take your cellphones and put in code after code a nightly 10 minute ordeal but to no avail. they even say youre connected but youre not. If you dont need internet great place to stay.

Location is close enough to be accessible to shops and restaurants but secluded enough for it to be quiet and peaceful. Really friendly hosts. The room is spacious, with a lot of natural light and air. Internet it fast. Really loved my stay
