Red coco inn is just a 15 mins drive via tricycle from the port. You can easily identify it since it is along the main road. Room is clean, with hot water, bath and beach towels which you can borrow, evryday has a housekeeping. Buffet Breakfast is good. We made use of the pool after we spend time in the beach the whole day. Staff are very nice. I will go back to this place. Price is worth it

BLUF: I am hoping to be able to snag the same deal on tis property the next time I visit. Ok so this property is less than 2 minutes from Robinson Mall Manilla, so the area is exciting and a bit sketch. The apartment itself I had a party of 11 and we all slept comfortably and had a nice home cooked meal in the morning, cooking and dining equipment is included. The pool is shaded most of the day so it is a bit cold but not freezing and younger children had a blast playing in it especially since it was mostly unused.

Your Travel Guide to Boracay Island as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Boracay Island from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

For the most convenient booking, book flight tickets through Traveloka and compare fares across major airlines.

For travelers coming from Manila and other major Philippine cities, the most convenient way to reach Boracay Island is by air. Flights typically land at Caticlan Airport (MPH), which is the closest to the island, with travel times around 1 hour and fares often ranging from PHP 3,000 to PHP 7,000 for a round trip, depending on the airline and booking time. Alternatively, you can fly into Kalibo International Airport (KLO), which may offer cheaper flights but requires a longer bus or van transfer (approximately 1.5 to 2 hours) to Caticlan Jetty Port. Booking your flight well in advance is recommended.

If you prefer a more economical, albeit longer, journey, bus travel is an option. Buses depart regularly from major terminals in Metro Manila, such as Cubao and Pasay, heading towards Caticlan. The bus journey can take around 10 to 12 hours, with ticket prices typically ranging from PHP 1,000 to PHP 1,800 one way. This option is best suited for those who have ample time and wish to save on airfare.

For those driving from Luzon, you can take your private vehicle to Caticlan. The journey involves driving through various highways and potentially taking ferries to cross certain bodies of water. Toll fees can add up, and the total travel time will be significantly longer than flying. Once you reach Caticlan, you will park your vehicle and proceed with the boat transfer to Boracay Island.

Best Time to Visit Boracay Island

The ideal time to visit Boracay Island for most Filipino travelers is during the dry season, which generally runs from November to April. This period offers sunny skies, calm seas, and lower humidity, making it perfect for beach activities, swimming, and water sports. The months of December to February are considered peak season, with the most pleasant weather but also the largest crowds and highest prices.

For those who prefer fewer crowds and potentially lower accommodation rates, the shoulder months of November and April can be excellent choices. You'll still enjoy good weather, but with a more relaxed atmosphere. The wet season, from May to October, brings a higher chance of rain and stronger winds, which can sometimes affect sea conditions and outdoor activities, though it also offers a more tranquil experience for some.

Food and Dining Near Boracay Island — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

No trip to Boracay is complete without indulging in fresh seafood. Grilled fish, prawns, and squid are staples, often prepared simply to highlight their natural flavors. You can find excellent seafood platters at many beachfront restaurants, especially around Station 1 and Station 2, where you can pick your catch of the day.

Kinilaw, the Filipino version of ceviche, is another must-try. Fresh raw fish, usually tuna or tanigue, is marinated in vinegar, onions, ginger, and chili peppers. It’s a refreshing and tangy dish that perfectly complements the tropical climate. Look for it on the menus of local eateries and even some of the more established restaurants.

Halo-halo, the iconic Filipino dessert, is a delightful concoction of shaved ice, milk, sweet beans, fruits, jellies, and topped with leche flan and ube ice cream. It’s the ultimate treat to cool down with on a hot Boracay afternoon. Many stalls and cafes offer their own unique versions, so be sure to try a few to find your favorite.

For a taste of local comfort food, try Chicken Adobo or Pork Sinigang. These classic Filipino dishes are widely available and offer a familiar, satisfying flavor. Many smaller eateries and carinderias around the island serve these dishes, providing an authentic taste of home.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Boracay Island

When visiting Boracay Island, it's appreciated if you respect local customs. Dress modestly when not on the beach or in tourist areas. Always greet locals with a smile and a polite "Magandang araw" (Good day). Tipping is not mandatory but is always appreciated for good service. Remember to dispose of your trash properly to help keep the island clean.

Safety is generally high in Boracay, but it's always wise to be aware of your surroundings. Keep your valuables secure and avoid walking alone in poorly lit areas late at night. For any emergencies, the Ciriaco S. Tirol Hospital is conveniently located nearby. It's also a good idea to have the local emergency numbers saved on your phone.

For seamless travel, consider downloading a few essential apps. A reliable map application will help you navigate the island. Ride-hailing apps are not as prevalent as in major cities, but local tricycle booking apps or services can be useful. For booking activities and tours, the Traveloka app is invaluable, allowing you to book attraction tickets and other experiences with ease.

Hotel was incredibly noisy. My room was above the main road, so heard traffic all night. The pool is at the back of the property, in between not one but two construction sites on either side. It was impossible to have a relaxing time here.

It’s very loud in this hotel. Construction sites all around and street traffic noise. It is a bit outdated hotel. Breakfast was just ok as it could do much better. Pool was looking nice but water was so cold even when air temp was 30 degrees. Restaurant staff not helpful. But reception and housekeeping were spot on.

(-) REVIEW 1.Map says it's 7mins walking distance on the beach front when it is actually 15mins walking distance. 2. All their cheap rooms are loacted at the top floors so you will be forced to upgrade your room to be on the lower room because.... 3. There is NO LIFT. (And it is not stated on the website). 4. Their bathrooms get flooded because there is no drainage on the toilet side. (It's either you need to call the house keeping OR you have to mop up the floor....) 5. Because their house keeping is available ONLY up until 5pm. (Or else you have to do the work) (+) REVIEW 1. One of their staff in the night shift named Jason (the only staff-no one else is around) is extremely helpful. 2. Pool was nice (but needs to be regularly cleaned). 3. Breakfast buffet was OK. 4. My special request was accommodated. (2 thumbs up).

We had a problem with our booking we rented a room with 2 beds for 2 adults and 1 child unfortunately the booking came out with the child aged 0 they then tried to extort more money from us,the ac in the room was not adequate eventually they brought a fan to cool the room. We ordered room service and the food was terrible and the breakfast was not much better. The pool pics are decieving its little more than a bath very small On the plus side the bed was comfy and the bathroom had an hygiene wash which is a big plus but overall we were neither pleased nor displeased we just wouldn't recommend this place to friends

Wasn't a fan of the activities. You should go to the back beach and wheel and deal there first.

The staff were all accommodating. Although the hotel is not in the beachfront, they have a nice pool to enjoy with. Very comfortable staying in the room.

Hotel was incredibly noisy. My room was above the main road, so heard traffic all night. The pool is at the back of the property, in between not one but two construction sites on either side. It was impossible to have a relaxing time here.
