The staff are friendly and the service is good. However there is no elevator so it's a little hard for elderly guests to go up and when the room is on the 3rd floor.

Your Travel Guide to Los Baños as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Los Baños from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

For travelers coming from Manila, reaching Los Baños is quite convenient. While there are no direct flights to Los Baños itself, you can book flight tickets to Manila's airports (NAIA) and then proceed via land travel. The most common route involves taking a bus from terminals in Cubao or Pasay directly to Los Baños town proper. Bus fares typically range from PHP 150 to PHP 250, and the travel time is approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.

If you are traveling from other major Philippine cities like Cebu or Davao, you would first book a flight to Manila. From Manila, you can then follow the bus route mentioned above. Alternatively, for a more direct but costly option, you could book a flight to the nearest accessible airport and then arrange for private transportation or a combination of local transport to reach Los Baños. book flight tickets through Traveloka for the best fares.

Driving from Manila is also a popular option. Take the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) and follow signs towards Calamba, then proceed to Los Baños. Toll fees can add up, but it offers flexibility. The drive is generally straightforward, taking about 1.5 to 2 hours without heavy traffic. Planning your trip and booking your flight or bus in advance can help secure better fares.

Best Time to Visit Los Baños

Los Baños experiences a tropical climate, with two main seasons: the dry season from November to April, and the wet season from May to October. For travelers who prefer sunny days and outdoor activities, the dry season is generally the best time to visit. This period offers pleasant weather for exploring the town's natural attractions and enjoying its recreational facilities.

The months of December to February are particularly popular due to cooler temperatures and minimal rainfall, making it ideal for sightseeing. However, this also means it can be peak season, with more crowds and potentially higher accommodation prices. If you're looking for a more relaxed visit and potentially better rates, consider the shoulder months of November or the early part of the dry season.

During the wet season, expect intermittent to heavy rainfall, especially in the afternoon. While this might deter some outdoor activities, it also means fewer tourists and lush, green landscapes. The waterfalls and natural springs in the area are often at their most impressive during this time. Just be prepared with rain gear and check weather forecasts regularly.

Food and Dining Near Los Baños — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

Laguna, and Los Baños in particular, offers a delightful culinary scene that reflects Filipino tastes. A must-try is the Buko Pie, a sweet and creamy young coconut pie. Its flaky crust and rich filling make it a perfect pasalubong (souvenir) and a satisfying dessert. Many local bakeries in Los Baños offer fresh Buko Pie, often still warm.

Another local specialty you should sample is Puto Bumbong, especially if you visit during the Christmas season, though some eateries might offer it year-round. This purple rice cake, steamed in bamboo tubes and served with butter, grated coconut, and muscovado sugar, is a beloved Filipino delicacy with a unique texture and flavor.

For a taste of savory local cuisine, try the Bulalo, a hearty beef soup from the Batangas region but widely enjoyed in Laguna. The rich broth, tender beef shanks, and marrow-filled bones make it a comforting and flavorful dish, especially on a cooler day. Many carinderias and restaurants in Los Baños serve delicious Bulalo.

Don't leave Los Baños without trying some fresh seafood, often prepared grilled or fried. Given its proximity to Laguna de Bay, you can find fresh catches prepared in various styles. Look for local eateries that serve Sinigang na Isda (sour fish soup) or Inihaw na Tilapia (grilled tilapia) for an authentic taste of the region's bounty.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Los Baños

Los Baños is known for its friendly and community-oriented culture, influenced by its academic institutions and natural attractions. Filipinos are generally warm and hospitable, so engaging with locals is usually a pleasant experience. When visiting religious sites or people's homes, it's customary to dress modestly and show respect.

Safety in Los Baños is generally good, especially in tourist areas. However, like any place, it's wise to be aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded markets or when using public transport. Keep your valuables secure and avoid displaying expensive items openly. For emergencies, local police can be reached through standard emergency numbers, and it's good to have the resort's contact information handy.

To enhance your travel experience, consider downloading a few essential apps. A reliable navigation app like Google Maps is indispensable for getting around Los Baños and finding your way to attractions. Ride-hailing apps or local transport apps can also be useful for getting around efficiently. For communication, messaging apps like WhatsApp or Viber are widely used by Filipinos.

Additionally, having a currency converter app can be helpful for managing your budget, and a translation app might be useful if you encounter situations where language barriers arise, though English is widely understood in tourist areas. We only enjoyed our stay in the room. Cafeteria only have few food options and a bit pricey. But it was a good thing that they are allowing guests to order thru online food delivery.

We booked only to realize the big slides where closed as out of season (my fault) They allowed to check in early which was nice of them. I noticed dog poo in between 2 of the pools which was unpleasant - stray dogs roam the place when it is not so busy. The place is on a road bend where the vehicles are often traveling @ speed so be careful. The showers in the room were cold but bearable. The breakfast was nice and the staff were friendly on the whole. 3/10

i was disappointment with one of the front desk agent when I asked for blow dryer. He said they have none and the agent suggested that I dry my hair using the big industrial fan in the lobby. What a horrible suggestion. I saw a fan in the reception area and pleaded that if I can use it but he will not even work with me. I asked to speak to a Manager but I have to wait until Manager arrives at 8am. When I returned at 8am, I complaint to the other front desk agent but no call back from the Manager. I waited for a courtesy call just to acknowledge my service concern but I guess GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE is not their priority. I had reserved 5 rooms for my family and I think I deserve a better treatment than what I got. However, I have to give it to the Coffee Shop servers - they are very accommodating and had given us excellent service. Lesson learned - I will never book this hotel again,

This place is a scam. There is no security, sketchy people hanging out watching you. Room is nothing like they show on website. No electrical outlets to charge your phone, AC hardly works, and youhave to shower in the dark, no lights. Water park? What water park? Pools are all closed, no water slides, the place is a dirty joke. Want to buy a coke? It takes 10 minutes for them to run somewhere and get your change and handwritten receipt, This place is a sham, thanks Orbitz.

Also maybe just happened to me, the bathroom handle doesn’t work properly but the good thing, they were able to fix it immediately. If you are a foodie lover, this property is in between of good foods

The total service was good. The staff were approachable and always ready to assist us. The only thing that I notice was most of the pools are not available and not that clean as well. We only enjoyed our stay in the room. Cafeteria only have few food options and a bit pricey. But it was a good thing that they are allowing guests to order thru online food delivery.

Rooms were dated with limited power points. No wifi. Tv didn’t work often because of poor internet. Room was not cleaned during our two days stay. No water in room. Ants and mosquitoes. Shower was powerful and good. Towels good quality. Staff were good. No gym or spa although advertised. No bar

The landscaping is very inviting & blends with the natural beauty 😍 of the Philippines. The owner to the staff were very welcoming & accommodating from arrival to departure. Thank you very much for your hospitality to my family of 11 including the dogs for a one week stay. Kindly Sterling Hubbard sr.

Actually it was there staff which made our stay worth...since they just open a month ago because of the pandemic.....the place is not that attractive, even our room has no phone, no cable, no internet. You have to go down to the splash cafe to get a net

The staff are friendly and the service is good. However there is no elevator so it's a little hard for elderly guests to go up and when the room is on the 3rd floor.

The stay is just average. There a some lacking amenities at the hotel like slippers inside the room for instance and telephone for room service. Good thing our room is just adjacent to the information. Food is good thank God. Hope they can improve their amenities.
