Your Travel Guide to Bacolod City as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Bacolod City from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

For most Filipino travelers coming from Manila or other major Luzon cities, flying is the most convenient and time-efficient way to reach Bacolod City. Several airlines operate regular flights to Bacolod-Silay International Airport (BSIA). Flight durations are typically around 1 hour and 15 minutes. You can often find competitive fares, especially if you book in advance. Using Traveloka to book flight tickets can help you secure the best deals.

From Visayas cities like Cebu or Iloilo, flying is also a popular option, with short flight times. Alternatively, ferry services are available from some ports, offering a more leisurely travel experience and often a more budget-friendly choice for those not in a hurry. Bus travel is also an option for those coming from nearby areas in Negros Occidental or Panay, though this can be a significantly longer journey.

If you are driving from other parts of Negros Occidental, you can navigate using national highways. The road conditions are generally good, but travel times can vary depending on the starting point and traffic. Regardless of your chosen mode of transport, planning your journey ahead of time will ensure a smoother trip to Bacolod City.

Best Time to Visit Bacolod City

The climate in Bacolod City is tropical, characterized by warm temperatures and high humidity throughout the year. The dry season generally runs from November to April, offering sunny days and less rainfall, making it an ideal period for outdoor activities and exploring the city. This is often considered the peak tourist season, so expect more crowds and potentially higher prices for accommodation and flights.

The wet season typically spans from May to October. During these months, you can expect intermittent rain showers, which can sometimes be heavy. However, the rain often doesn't last all day, and you can still enjoy your visit. Traveling during the wet season can be advantageous if you are looking for fewer crowds and potentially more affordable travel options. The lush greenery also adds a different kind of beauty to the province during this time.

For a balanced experience, the shoulder months of November and April can be excellent choices. You might still catch good weather without the peak season crowds. Ultimately, Bacolod City is a year-round destination, and the best time to visit depends on your personal preferences regarding weather, crowd levels, and budget.

Lowest priced when I searched here in the app. Spacious room and large bed. Lots of lighting, dresser, coffee/reading table set. Though you would know that the hotel has aged but with the price you pay its a bargain. Its also in the heart of central bacolod.

Me and my friends booked 2 rooms for a night. The place is ok, their breakfast buffet is good. But the elevator is out of service, so we had to use the stairs until the 5/F. The rooms are just ok, you get what you pay for. Anyway, it would have been a perfect stay had they open the connecting door of the 2 rooms.

Pros: Buffet breakfast. Clean reception. Very welcoming and helpful staff. Close proximity to restaurants, malls, convenience stores, etc. Free toiletries and clean towels. Complimentary mineral water and coffee inside room. Very good air-conditioning. Excellent Wi-Fi. Soft mattress. Quiet location. Cons: Hotel room smelled of a really strong chemical when we first arrived (disinfectant or insect spray). No hot water. TV only has 10 or so channels and not equipped with cable as advertised. Sofa cushions inside room have questionable dark stains.

The age of the building is evident in some parts but it only shows the resilience of it. The service was great and they catered our requests efficiently. What caught my attention was there was a master panel switch located by the bedside which control all devices in the room (AC, lights, etc). The shower temperature was a bit hard to manage though it was alright. Finally, the buffet breakfast. Strong advice to the management: add an egg station or at the very least omelette to the breakfast buffet menu. That's a guaranteed plus. With the price of the room and the services offered, it made a wonderful overnight stay. 10/10 will come back granted that omelettes are added to the menu :)

Unfortunately, their elevator (which is kinda old) was not working. So we had to use the stairs to reach our room on the 5th floor. Don't expect that much on their buffet breakfast as it has few food choices - but overall, it was OK. You get what you paid for.

There was a fridge in the room where we kept our drinks. Also a safe so we can leave our valuables. There was hot shower as well. Room service also kept our room tidy even if you don't request they would do it daily. The buffet breakfast though they could have added more selections and the wifi we haven't really used it because of very weak signal. Overall the place was great.

Lowest priced when I searched here in the app. Spacious room and large bed. Lots of lighting, dresser, coffee/reading table set. Though you would know that the hotel has aged but with the price you pay its a bargain. Its also in the heart of central bacolod.

I guess I'm here. Everytime I go to bacolod, here I try because I feel like it's all here and just about every establishment ❤️

The room was spacious, clean and well ventilated. I love the hot and cold shower. Their buffet breakfast was heaven. I did not expect it actually. Will definitely recommend.
