I stay here every time I come to Cebu typically twice a year and the reason I keep coming back is the staff ! I tend to get a private room but it is always clean, with hot water and air con which are a lot of big deals in the Philippines, you’re near the local market so tons of food choices and stores ! The mall is only right up the street too if you’re not into vendor food. Well worth it to stopover at the stopover hostel!

Your Travel Guide to Lapu-Lapu City, Mactan Island as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Lapu-Lapu City, Mactan Island from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

For travelers coming from Manila, the most efficient way to reach Lapu-Lapu City, Mactan Island is by air. Numerous airlines operate daily flights from Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL) to Mactan Cebu International Airport (CEB). The flight duration is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Fares can vary significantly depending on the season and how far in advance you book, but you can typically expect to pay anywhere from PHP 2,500 to PHP 6,000 for a round trip if you book strategically. Airlines like Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, and AirAsia offer regular services. Booking your flight through Traveloka can help you compare prices and find the best deals for your trip to Cebu.

If you're traveling from other major Philippine cities like Davao, Cagayan de Oro, or Iloilo, flying into Mactan Cebu International Airport (CEB) remains the most practical option. Flight times will vary depending on the origin city, but generally range from 1 to 2 hours. Similar to flights from Manila, booking in advance through Traveloka is recommended to secure competitive prices.

Once you land at CEB, The Stopover Hostel Mactan is conveniently located just a short drive away, making your arrival and transfer hassle-free.

While flying is the quickest, for those seeking a more adventurous and budget-conscious journey from Luzon, taking a ferry is an option, though it is significantly longer. You would typically travel from Manila to Cebu City via ferry, a trip that can take around 20 to 24 hours. Major shipping lines like 2GO Travel operate these routes.

From the Cebu City port, you would then need to take a taxi or public transport to cross over to Mactan Island and reach Lapu-Lapu City. This option is best suited for travelers with ample time who wish to experience sea travel.

Best Time to Visit Lapu-Lapu City, Mactan Island

Lapu-Lapu City, Mactan Island, enjoys a tropical climate year-round, which means you can expect warm temperatures and humidity regardless of when you visit. However, the weather patterns do offer distinct periods that might suit different types of travelers. The dry season generally runs from December to May, offering the sunniest days and the least amount of rainfall.

This period is ideal for beach activities, island hopping, and exploring the outdoors, making it a popular time for both local and international tourists. Expect higher crowd levels and potentially higher accommodation prices during these months, especially around holidays.

The wet season, from June to November, brings with it a higher chance of rain, often in the form of short, intense downpours, usually in the afternoon. While this might deter some from beach activities, it also means fewer crowds and often more affordable prices for flights and accommodation. For travelers who don't mind occasional rain showers and are looking for a more relaxed and budget-friendly trip, the wet season can be an excellent time to visit.

The lush greenery also becomes more pronounced during this period, offering a different kind of scenic beauty.

For Filipino travelers looking for a balance of good weather and manageable crowds, the shoulder months of December and May can be particularly appealing. These periods often offer pleasant weather without the peak season congestion. If your primary interest is experiencing local festivals and events, it's worth checking the calendar for Lapu-Lapu City and Cebu as a whole, as various celebrations occur throughout the year.

Ultimately, the "best" time to visit depends on your personal preferences for weather, budget, and crowd tolerance.

I thought I was the only one in a reserved room for in my booking, it is stated, 'one room, one guest'. I am disappointed finding myself in a room where unknown people to me are also staying. I feel unsafe inside.

I would like to commend for mr. roger for being so accommodating and nice at all times contrary to a lady receptionist (name to be kept unknown/unmentioned). She has to be genuinely nice to all clients. The facilities need to be maintained. Also, the price/cost of something, e.g. room and/or extension rates, keep on changing as they converse with the clients over the phone and in person.

They never included in their term and condition that children is not allowed in their dormitory. Paid 403 already through app. Staff offered private room costing 1200 and promised to refund the money I paid for my 1st booking but never happened. We stayed at the hostel 5 to 6hrs only. Imagine paying 1600 for this. Cant help to mention. Soap and shampoo not included. Ridiculous! So upsetting!

Disappointed. I was basing the hostel through the picture and reviews that they posted on app. There were 4 bunk beds. On the picture one queen size bed and one bunk bed. It was hell. The CR is more hell. I was so tired from my flight. I went to SM Cebu right away then after that went back to the Mactan Airport. Next time I have a connecting flight id rather stay in the Airport. I tried couple of Hostels in Manila. The CR was way better than this hostel.

1. WiFi signal on the ground floor is so slow I had to go to the 3rd floor to connect. 2. No drinking water/bottled water available 3. I transferred to a private room but no free toiletries except for tissue paper 4. It's hard to get a cab in the area

The description should include that male and female are sharing in a dorm type room. Bathroom doors are just frosted glass sliding doors. So this is a first and definitely my last.
