We had the best view for the NYE celebration/fireworks from the balcony. Love the complimentary buffet breakfast, the bread & food from Olive's Cafe. My 2nd time to stay here for 2023.

This hotel is very near to Burnham park and all other tourist attractions. Walking distance to good restaurants, churches and other parks. They serve a delicious buffet breakfast! Plus their staffs are very kind and welcoming. The room is very clean, has an electric kettle and cups for your coffee, has a smart TV with Netflix, the bathroom has a heater and bidet, and toiletries are completely provided. Our room is a non-AC with a balcony and a Parkview. Our stay is amazing and we'll definitely go back to Venus Parkview Hotel on our next Baguio trip.

Your Travel Guide to Baguio City as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Baguio City from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

Traveling to Baguio City from Manila is a popular choice for many Filipinos. The most common way is by bus, with numerous companies operating from terminals like Cubao and Pasay. Buses typically run 24/7, with trips taking approximately 6 to 8 hours, depending on traffic conditions. Fares generally range from PHP 700 to PHP 1,000 for regular or executive services.

For those seeking a faster journey, flying is an option, though Baguio does not have its own airport. The nearest airport is in Clark, Pampanga, from which you can take a bus or van to Baguio, adding about 3-4 hours to your travel time. Alternatively, you can fly to Loakan Airport in Baguio itself, though flight availability can be limited and more expensive. It's advisable to book flight tickets in advance, especially during peak seasons.

Driving your own vehicle offers flexibility. The most direct route from Manila involves taking the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and then the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) towards Tarlac, eventually connecting to the Jose Abad Santos Avenue and then the MacArthur Highway leading to Baguio. The drive typically takes around 4 to 6 hours without significant traffic. Toll fees can add up to approximately PHP 800-1,000 for a round trip.

Best Time to Visit Baguio City

The ideal time to visit Baguio City for most Filipino travelers is during the dry season, which runs from November to May. During these months, the weather is cooler and less prone to rain, making it perfect for outdoor activities and exploring the city's attractions. The months of December to February are particularly popular due to the Christmas season and the cooler temperatures, but expect larger crowds.

The period from June to October is the wet season, characterized by frequent rainfall. While this time can offer a more tranquil experience with fewer tourists and lush green scenery, it's essential to be prepared for rain. If you don't mind occasional downpours and are looking for a more budget-friendly trip, visiting during the shoulder months of June or October can still be enjoyable.

For those who wish to experience Baguio's famous Panagbenga Festival, the flower festival is held annually in February. This is a peak season, so expect higher hotel rates and significant crowds. If you plan to visit during this time, booking your accommodation and transport well in advance is highly recommended.

Food and Dining Near Baguio City — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

Baguio City is a culinary delight, offering a range of flavors that appeal to Filipino palates. A must-try is the Strawberry Taho, a local variation of the classic Filipino snack, often found sold by vendors in Burnham Park and other tourist spots. The sweet, silken tofu is combined with strawberry syrup and sago pearls, offering a refreshing and unique taste of Baguio.

Another local specialty is the Pinikpikan, a traditional Cordilleran dish. This dish involves a unique preparation method where the meat is lightly beaten to draw out blood, which is then cooked with vegetables like etag (smoked pork) and native greens. Its rich, savory flavor is a true taste of the region's culinary heritage. Many local eateries and restaurants in Baguio serve authentic Pinikpikan.

For those with a sweet tooth, Baguio's Ube Jam and Peanut Brittle are popular pasalubong (take-home treats). You can find these at local markets and souvenir shops. The creamy, rich ube jam and the crunchy, sweet peanut brittle are perfect gifts for family and friends back home. Many bakeries and specialty stores offer these delights.

When exploring dining options near Venus Parkview Hotel, consider trying local restaurants that offer these specialties. The hotel's proximity to the central shopping area means you're likely to find numerous eateries serving Baguio's famous dishes, from casual carinderias to more established restaurants.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Baguio City

Baguio City is known for its friendly locals and generally peaceful atmosphere. When interacting with residents, a polite and respectful demeanor is always appreciated. The Igorot culture is rich and diverse, and visitors are encouraged to learn about and respect local customs. Always ask for permission before taking photos of people.

For safety, Baguio is considered one of the safer cities in the Philippines. However, it's always wise to be aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded areas like markets and bus terminals. Keep your valuables secure and avoid displaying expensive items. In case of emergencies, local police can be reached at 911.

Essential apps for your trip include navigation apps like Google Maps to help you find your way around the city. Ride-hailing apps are also available and can be convenient for getting around. For communication, ensure you have a reliable mobile network. Having a local SIM card or checking your roaming services before you go is advisable.

Consider downloading a weather app to stay updated on Baguio's often unpredictable mountain weather. This will help you pack appropriately and plan your activities accordingly. Being prepared for cool temperatures and potential rain will ensure a more comfortable and enjoyable visit to the Summer Capital.

I like the location of this hotel it is walking distance from the park. When we checked in the staff is friendly and helpful. But the things that I don’t like is our breakfast experience the service staff is just standing while our table has a pile of empty plates. We ate dinner in the restaurant as well and we waited for 10mins before they acknowledged us and he forgot our drinks to go with my steak. Lastly is the room service which they never refill our shampoo and soap. Overall it is interesting experience.

Hotel and our room Location is excellent. Service is very good. Room is very ordinary considering it is a Superior room lacking basics in amenities like trash bins, foot towels (though they provided on our second day), no bidet in toilet, complimentary bottled water was only 2 when I paid for a quadruple superior room for 4 persons. Breakfast is ok, nothing special but on peak season they easily get packed but they act fast enough to improve to situation. Overall, still recommended due to location walking distance to Burnham Park. just dont expect to much of your room.

Horrible experience. The room bathroom smelled disgusting the moment we walked in. The mattresses were far too firm and the springs dug into our backs. The pillows felt like rocks. The staff had to be called for everything (hair dryer, extra towels, toilet paper, etc.). The included breakfast buffet had a small selection of food and most of the time it was out of food. There were dirty dishes everywhere and they used some sort of military looking plastic gas jug containers for serving drinking water and juice. Hated everything about this hotel.

Other reviewers have indicated that the room they they booked was not the room the got when they checked in. ME TOO! I booked a superior room with a balcony. Based on the pictures I saw posted I expected king bed, balcony, updated comfort room (white tile, new vanity...) and updated furnishings. It was very disappointing, not clean and everything in the room had seen better days. Most concerning was the hot water heater in the CR that did not work two of the three mornings I attempted to take a shower. I believe the issue was not enough water flow to the third floor. Additionally, The water heater and the electrical receptacle it was plugged into was located in the shower stall and was not grounded or protected by a ground fault interrupter to protect any one using the shower from electrical shock. There was also an exposed wire above the bed but not as concerning since it is not a wet space and people would be reaching up to grab wires above a bed. The only adequate thing in the bedroom was the mattress which appears to have been replaced in the last 3 years. The buffet get a lot of high marks from other reviewers. It is all you can eat and has a decent variety of foods traditionally available for a Filipino breakfast. None of the items served were especially delicious or even flavorful. It was some of the most boring Filipino food I have ever eaten. I cannot imagine anyone wanting to eat endlessly from that breakfast buffet. Your hard earned money is better spent elsewhere.

It has been many years since i have stayed at a hotel that did not spend a few pennies to supply shampoo! The least they could have done was tell me that in advance and i would have brought sone! A bit too much mold in the bathroom too But other than that a great place with fine food and service

Was thinking the room has an air conditioner. Very much frustrated since the weather if the vicinity needs an air condition. Requested a roll of bath tissue they were still charging me. The bathroom is not very impressed as I was very much impressed of the lobby decorations. Not enough towels, pillows and toilet kits. I can say the hotel attracts customers by the lobby display not the convenience of the customers. I can say that the hotel cannot be recommended to other customers. I can rate it as number 3 from 1-10 the higihiest.

It was definitely worth what you pay for! Their higher rooms with balconies offer the best views and comfort!! The service was great. Ample parking space. Super great location, easily accessible with plenty of options for your needs.

It was an amazing experience. We took a lot of photos in the lobby area. The food served for breakfast was delicious! I had fun with my family. We had to pay 200 pesos per hour since we checked out after 12 noon.
