Your Travel Guide to Mabalacat as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Mabalacat from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

Traveling to Mabalacat from Manila is straightforward, with several transportation options available to suit different preferences and budgets. The most common method is by bus, with numerous companies operating routes daily. Buses depart from major terminals in Metro Manila, such as Cubao and Pasay, heading directly to Mabalacat. The journey typically takes around 2 to 3 hours, depending on traffic conditions. Fares are generally affordable, ranging from PHP 300 to PHP 500.

For those who prefer a faster mode of travel, flying into Clark International Airport (CRK) is an excellent option. Clark is located very close to Mabalacat, making it a convenient gateway. Several airlines offer book flight services to Clark from various domestic destinations, including Cebu, Davao, and of course, Manila. Flight times are significantly shorter than bus journeys, usually under an hour from Manila. From Clark Airport, you can easily take a taxi or a pre-booked car service to reach your accommodation in Mabalacat.

Driving your own vehicle is another viable option, especially for families or groups traveling together. Mabalacat is accessible via the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX). The route is well-signposted, and the drive from Manila typically takes about 2 to 3 hours. This offers the most flexibility in terms of departure time and the ability to make stops along the way.

If you are coming from other major cities in the Philippines, such as Cebu or Davao, flying into Clark International Airport is the most practical choice. From there, local transport options to Mabalacat are readily available. Planning your travel in advance, especially during peak seasons, is recommended to secure the best fares and ensure a smooth journey to Pampanga.

Best Time to Visit Mabalacat

The climate in Mabalacat, like much of Central Luzon, is tropical. This means it generally experiences two main seasons: a dry season and a wet season. The dry season typically runs from November to April, characterized by lower humidity and less rainfall. This period is often considered the most pleasant time to visit, with sunny days ideal for outdoor activities and exploring the region. Temperatures during these months can range from the mid-20s to the low 30s Celsius.

The wet season usually spans from May to October. During these months, you can expect higher humidity and more frequent rainfall, often in the form of afternoon thunderstorms. While this might deter some outdoor plans, it also means fewer crowds and potentially lower accommodation prices. If you don't mind occasional rain showers and are looking for a more budget-friendly trip, visiting during the wet season can still be very rewarding.

For Filipino travelers planning a visit, the months of November to February are particularly good. The weather is generally cooler and drier, making it comfortable for sightseeing and enjoying local attractions. This period also coincides with many local festivals and holiday celebrations, adding a cultural dimension to your trip. However, be aware that this is also a peak travel period, so booking accommodations and transport in advance is advisable.

Ultimately, Mabalacat can be visited year-round. The key is to pack appropriately for the season you choose. Light, breathable clothing is recommended for the tropical climate. If visiting during the wet season, an umbrella or raincoat is essential. Regardless of when you go, Mabalacat offers a welcoming atmosphere and plenty to explore for the curious Filipino traveler.

The place looks generally clean but looks rundown. The pool looks dirty and unhealthy to swim. The grime at the bottom of the pool looks like it has not been cleaned in a while. Internet is good and the room and bathrooms are clean but musty. The staff refused to issue me an official receipt arguing that my online booking and credit card payment serves as my receipt. However, I insisted after strongly arguing that the big BIR sign posted on the wall stating that guest must demand a receipt so that the goverment can get paid for taxes. The staff relented and asked us to wait while they issue a receipt. They were deliberately footdragging so I would give up and leave. At this point, I had to demand in a strong voice for a receipt and the staff quickly issued a receipt. This was a very bad experience for us leaving the place exasperated. Ben from Boston/Manila

The Woodland Hotel was so quiet and comfortable within walking distance of the centre of Angeles. It is ideally situated for Clark airport and the nearby SM shopping mall. The food was good and priced reasonably, the swimming pool was kept clean and immaculate, the grounds were nice to walk around. Gymnasium for those that enjoy the punishment. Staff were friendly with only a few minor irritations on cutlery and lack of available plates at breakfast and having to go to the bar to place a lunch order because staff were not very attentive at that time. My wife and I would definitely stay there again. Free courtesy car to and from airport. Hotel let us check out at 3pm instead of 12pm at no extra cost. Well done Woodland Hotel for a memorable stay.

room service are good but they only give just 1 complimentary breakfast but the bacon was so inadequate they gave me a dirty spoon. and they should assist the guests and ask what their needs but they're just all flirting and laughing at the bar.

We arrived in Mabalacat after 2AM and spent over an hour hunting for our hotel; even with GPS we couldn't find it until our third try, having nothing but the name and no street address. Locating it even then was tough in the dark, on an extremely busy street, during Easter holiday week, not knowing that we were looking for a tiny sign at the corner of a side street that finally led back into the resort driveway two blocks away. The staff were on alert and very helpful. The room was nice and had a good A/C unit that saved us after a hideous car renting experience in Manila, a horrendous 2-hour drive in bumper-to-bumper traffic, and getting severely lost twice. We enjoyed sight-seeing around Angeles City and Clark Air Base in our air conditioned car. Everywhere outside was hot and very humid which made too much walking in the sun dangerous even with sun screen and a good water supply. Food choices are limited but very inexpensive. Swim in the morning when the water's cooler.

Good location with plenty of privacy. Room was nice in good condition. The restaurant decor was very poor, the waitress was not familiar with the menu and the food didn't taste very good. The pool was very good and the outdoor facilities were very good, except the two pool tables available. They had no over the table lighting and at times the ball would go right through the pocket to the floor. Otherwise this place was fine and I would stay there again. I think it is Korean owned.

The hotel was more than comfortable but the shower/tap water smelled of heavy metal. They offered extra bottles of water to brush your teeth but it was difficult to overcome. My friend noted that it didn't have a formal bar area. I think the pool was good and the room service was good. The bed was awesome with a large screen LCD tv.

I usually stay at the larger hotels in Angeles City, and yet at this time, THOSE hotels were booked solid..taking a chance that the Woodlands would be a decent time, I booked a 5-day stay there, and was NOT DISAPPOINTED!!! The hotel is located off the beaten path of the main highway, leaving it in a position of being more quiet, and even a bit secluded, and I LIKED that!!! The hotel staff were exceptional in their kindness and warmth, and room service is 24 hours daily-something I enjoyed considering I work in medicine and have no set hours of eating, even when on vacation! If a person would ask for advice to stay at Woodlands Hotel, Id certainly offer up a hearty "go for it" in a minute!!! EXCELLENT job Woodlands Hotel!!! I'll be back!!!

Needs new name "Maybe it will work Hotel. WiFi (hit and MISS), Night and Morning room service called twice PLEASE TAKE food dishes...finally paid morning waiter STILL not take dish (gardener did).....toilet flush: stopped up. And ewwww nasty Korean owners as EVERYwhere in PI they have toilet bidets even Public restrooms. More about Mgmt its $60 night here (Subic Beach price for Queen bed) after first night mishaps Mgr says pay cash $50....except other Anglo got $40 a night...hmmmm. I saw other comments about bldg 3 (economy queen) and its true...first night in bldg 3 I had 7 working tv channels, had to call tech. Also took 1 2 3! Staffers to unlock tricky safes. HONEST REVIEW HERE...but the pool, maint staff, amazing bartenders and the beautiful master Chef Ella are unfortgetable. The rest.forget it.unless you are from Korea then it's heaven here.
