Hotel da Oliveira

This hotel is like stepping back in time. It is beautiful and is located on the main square of the old city. However it is very quiet and safe. We didn’t eat at the restaurant but it is a Michelin restaurant and is very beautiful. The breakfast they served in the morning was amazing. The room was very clean and in good condition. The wall thermostat needed some repair but it still worked just fine. The art work in the room and halls was beautiful. Would definitely recommend and stay here again.

Everything perfect. The hotel main floor is marvelous, a great pleasure to enjoy it. The room is comfortable. The Hotel location couldn’t be better, at the center of the old center. The only thing to regret is that the Parking Lot is a bit far away from the hotel and you have to carry your baggage to the hotel.

Lovely hotel located in the heart of the old city. The short walk from the car park is no real inconvenience and the setting within the car free cobbled streets more than compensates. Beds were huge and really comfy and the breakfast was also superb!

This hotel is truly authentic, with rooms that are both very clean and uniquely designed. It’s centrally located, making it easy to explore, and the surrounding area is absolutely gorgeous. The stay was extremely comfortable, with everything you could possibly need thoughtfully provided. The toiletries were excellent, and even fresh water was left for a nightcap. A wonderful experience overall!

We like the location of the property in the old town. It was centrally located and within easy walking distance to many restaurants and sights. It is a nice walk to the old castle. It is also conveniently located so you can walk into the newer parts of town to shop and eat as well. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The buffet breakfast was well appointed and nicely laid out with excellent service. Eggs are freshly cooked to your preference. The wooden shutters on the room balcony and window were very nice. Hotel parking is at site located a short walk from the hotel and google maps directions to the hotel direct you up a one-way street. The only negative is that there was an issue with the shower pan separating form the wall in one corner which caused some moisture damage to show on the shower wall.

Guimaraes should not be missed and neither should this hotel, it’s in the centre of everything

This was my favorite hotel during my trip to Portugal! My room at the hotel was very nice. The breakfast was excellent. And the staff were excellent as well. The location is within walking distance of the castle, shopping and also very good restaurants. The hotel has a Michelin restaurant. We ate there and it is excellent.

I had a great stay at this hotel. The room was comfortable and clean, and everything was well-maintained. The breakfast was absolutely perfect—fresh, delicious, and with a good variety of options to choose from. The staff were very friendly, attentive, and always ready to help, which made the experience even more enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this hotel and look forward to staying here again.

Very nice hotel modern and clean. Staff were very helpful and sent parking instructions beforehand. Breakfast very good too. The only issue we had was the air conditioning didn’t work to our room. We moved to another room which was fine. Recommended!

We stayed the day/night of the blackout. The staff was super helpful and accommodating. The restaurant is exceptional!

Our check in was great as well as the morning staff. The afternoon staff was not as friendly as we would have expected. We are from the US and felt we weren’t as welcome as some others from other areas

Amazing hotel in the center of the old town. Service and food are wonderful. The little thing that can be improved is the park instruction.

This was our second stay at the Hotel da Oliveira. All being well, we shall be returning again. It is a most elegant space in the historical quarter, with themed guest rooms (ours was named after the inscription of the city on the UNESCO World Heritage List). LOCATION: Situated at the very heart of the Centro Historico, the hotel is a short taxi ride from the train station and the bus station (even walkable with light luggage). HISTORY: The elegant breakfast verandah of the hotel opens out onto the historical Largo da Oliveira, while the main entrance to the hotel opens onto the Rua de Santa Maria, said to be the first road built in Portugal (Guimarães being where Portugal's history begins). At its upper end, the Rua de Santa Maria culminates in the Paço dos Duques de Bragança and the Castelo de Guimarães, while at its lower end it becomes a part of the Largo da Oliveira, with the Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Oliveira. While the latter is still a living church, a part of it has been converted into the Museu de Alberto Sampaio (at the height of the summer holidays, the museum stays open late into the night). Guests of the hotel are within walking distance of all key sights, and a walk away from the Teleférico de Guimarães, the cable car that transports one to Monte da Penha.
