What Guests Say About Their Stay

An excellent hotel to stay if you want to be close to the main attractions in the old Lisbon, located at a walking distance from the Rossio Metro station. Lots of cafés and restaurants nearby, not to mention the one at the hotel serving delicious Portugese cuisine. Breakfast is also super delicious with croissants, toasts, fresh fruit, eggs, yogourt, cold cuts, pancakes...etc. The staff is amazing. A big thank to François, Maurice (Momo), Bruno and Anick who were always ready to help. They also made suggestions for tours and visits. I had the room on the top floor with a private terrace and a wonderful view of the Taje. This room is worth paying a little more if you want to treat yourself. It was my first time in Lisbon and I would definitely stay there when I return.

My partner and I stayed for 3 nights at the Solar dos Mouros in the balcony room. We absolutely loved it and were very sad when it was time to leave. The staff were all extremely welcoming and helpful from the moment we got there. Francois in particular was fantastic, from checking us in to giving us tips for getting around the city and places to see, he covered everything. The room was clean, tidy and comfortable, with room service completed each day while we were out exploring the city and let me just say, we could not have asked for a better view from the balcony! The only thing was that the door to the bathroom/toilet is mostly clear glass, so not a whole lot of privacy. There are several flights of stairs to the room we stayed in and no elevator, which wasn't an issue for us but something to consider. There are also two restaurants attached. The main one for the terrace and a traditional Portuguese restaurant. We ate at the main restaurant and sitting on the terrace. The view was great and so was the food and service. All round, a fantastic place to stay and we hope to make our way back some day for another much longer stay!

Very simple and truly lovely place. The staff were beyond gracious and so eager to be helpful. Francois in particular could not have been more generous in orienting us to the neighborhood and answering all our questions. The room was very large and drenched in light - worth the five flights of stairs. If you have mobility issues, contact hotel directly to book, as there are steps everywhere. , one day we left hand washed laundry hanging in the room. We returned to find it dry and ironed!! if you are looking for a glamorous, chic hotel, this is not the place for you. For us, star experience at a sweet simple hotel.

After traveling all over the world, I can honestly say that if I could give Solar dos Mouros more than five stars, I absolutely would. From the moment we arrived, the customer service was beyond exceptional. A very special thank you to François and Rio, who truly made our stay unforgettable. They consistently went above and beyond even preparing breakfast for us two hours before regular service began because they knew we were heading to the airport early. That level of care is rare and deeply appreciated. The rooms are spacious with beautiful high ceilings and breathtaking views. The location is perfect just steps from Castelo de São Jorge, and next door to the award-winning Santo André Pastelaria, known for its incredible pastries. The hotel’s restaurant is also a must delicious food and some of the best sangria we’ve had. Breakfast was wonderful, with eggs, sausage, cheeses, salmon, croissants, and so much more. I truly cannot say enough about the warmth and professionalism of the team. The people at this hotel are what make the experience so special. Thank you for an unforgettable experience.

A very warm welcome on our arrival, who offered us complimentary drinks after a long day travelling. We were shown our room on the 2nd floor (room 4) and it was spotless and was a very large room. Wonderful views of the river. All the front of house staff we saw were very friendly each time we saw them. I cannot comment on the breakfast or the food as we ate out during our stay. The hotel is up a hill but they have steps and a local elevator that takes you down to the lower level of Lisbon. But this didnt cause any problems for us but it may if you struggle with walking. But we had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend this hotel.
