The first night I was there, there was a bedbug in my bed. I went to the front desk immediately and asked if I could have my room changed and explained to them the situation and showed them the picture. It was nearly 10 pm and the front desk man came to my room, and I asked him to wait because I had taken some of my clothing off, and it was on the desk and the man comes in and sees my undergarments, which is very unacceptable in Saudi Arabia. I asked him three times to leave until I invite him into the room, and he finally leaves. I collect my suitcase, and then he starts pulling the sheets back, shaking them. I asked him to wait until I remove my items and myself from the room because I don’t want bugs on me. The hotel put me in another room on another floor. I was going to check out the next day because I was staying for four nights, but the general manager told me that he would take care of the charges so I stayed. When I arrived home, I noticed I was charged for all four nights and when I contacted the hotel, they said they would only reimburse me for one night. There is no way I would pay to stay in a hotel with bedbugs, and the only reason I stayed on a different floor was because the general manager told me he would cover the charges. I will never stay in this hotel again, and if they think that literally having a bedbug crawl across the bed whilst you’re in it is satisfied by reimbursement of one night charge that is outrageous and incredibly disrespectful.

Excellent location but that is about it. The hotel itself is quite outdated and tired looking. It needs a proper renovation. Additionally service was not a 5* service, not even a 4* service. Unfortunately it seems like Movenpick's standard has significantly gone down.

I have stayed at the Movenpick on and off for the past 10 years and the service has always been excellent. The current management and team under Mohammed Al Khlaqi provides a true "home from home" experience and I always enjoy truly excellent Indian food and attentiveness at the Maharaja restaurant. In my view, the best place to stay in Al Khobar.
