\Do yourself a favour and do not book a stay in this place. The outside is grubby, and the inside has a lot to be desired. The room allocated was dark, with only tiny window to the hallway! The bed sheets were clearly not fresh, and not changed after the previous guest, the carpet dirty, and the room smelled badly. The flush of the toilet didn't work. This was the first time in my life when I checked out before even sleeping there.

The room we had was not a double room, it was more like a single room with a double bed, the room was so small we could hardly move inside. The whole place in my view was pretty grotty.

Arrived and waited a long time for reception - attitude was less than friendly - very abrupt. Hallways to room smelled musty. Room was like an oven and windows didn’t open. It did have fan but very noisy and unable to sleep with it on. Decor very tired and skirting boards dirty. Asked if possible for earlier breakfast, abruptly dismissed

This is an old tired hotel. Although the staff was pleasant to deal with, the hotel did not meet our expectations. The "chef" was out sick during our entire stay (3 days) so we could not eat at the hotel, or get breakfast there. Not that big of a deal since there are other options close by, but still disappointing. We were in a room where the shower drain was clogged, and seeing how short staffed they were, we just unclogged the shower drain ourselves (yes I had tools with me on holiday). Since we have stayed at this hotel in the past and enjoyed it, we figured we'd give it another go. But frankly I would suggest you look for other accommodation if you are staying in Banchory.

After booking and paying found some scary reviews but we didn’t experience any of them. B/fast value £12 each, couldn’t finish mine, good coffee. Bar service good, busy outside seating area. Some noise o/n but to be expected as we were overlooking the High street. Could do with a little attention to detail in room, paper peeling from ceiling, curtains off track in few places. Parking off street available when checking in
