Only stayed here for one night at the end of our trip but was a great experience. Got an upgrade to the house and it was beautiful. Restaurant was also very nice. Short drive to downtown and the airport, best of both worlds.

TLDR: snot on ‘clean’ sheets. Extremely smelly duvets. Would not recommend. Worst hotel experience we’ve had in a long time. Spend your money on a budget hotel or even a hostel for a more reliable and cleanly experience. We are not picky travelers. We came to this hotel having stayed in a cheap budget hotel for a week prior, and we were excited to experience the 3-star hotel. The Murrayfield Hotel is very pretty, and our room was spacious, with views out the window but plenty of privacy. On paper and in pictures, this seemed like a luxury hotel. But our nightmarish experience had us missing our budget hotel. First, it’s important to note that there is no elevator and the upper floors can get very hot. Beyond the discomfort from the heat and the slightly strange sensation of feeling the buses rumbling the floors as they pass, cleanliness was our dealbreaker with the Murrayfield Hotel. The duvets smelled bad. Like, really bad. We could sit a few feet away from our beds and still smell body odor on the sheets that had been changed that very day. Thinking we’d sleep better without the duvet, we peeled it back to find that the newly changed sheet had a large piece of snot or earwax stuck to it. This was a bad hotel experience in general, but to think of how much we paid per night for this… extremely disappointing and disgusting conditions. We wish the hotel would take some of the exorbitant revenue they collect and put it towards new duvets and better cleanliness.

Lovely room, very clean and generously sized. Bay window looked out onto the road and views of the Murrayfield Stadium. Unfortunately the whole room shakes whenever any bus or large vehicle travels down the road. Trying to sleep with a shaking bed took some getting used to. Breakfast was disappointing. I expected better with the additional cost. No Bananas or Apples, just a selection of sliced fruit. One morning, I asked for more yogurt but they had ‘run out’! It was 8.30am, it’s not as if I’d turned up late to breakfast. The cooked options were small and often didn’t come with what was described on the menu, however they did accommodate our Gluten Free requests. Staff were friendly but for me the hotel didn’t stand up to my expectations.

The staff was nice. The rooms were cleaned daily but make sure to put the door sign on the door so they know to clean it. The attached restaurant was pretty good and staff was nice and helpful as well. The mattress on the bed was very hard and barely had any give to it. Bathrooms were a decent size. Our room was facing towards the back which ended up being very loud at night. You could hear people walking around and even hear their conversations. Friday night was probably the worst with outside noises with a rugby game going on across the street and people leaving the bars. In the early morning, we would get woke up with trash pick up or people getting in and out of their cars.

Breakfast was delicious and fairly priced for the quality provided. I dropped a star due to my son's air pods going missing. All I can say is we had a conversation about them being on the side table when we left in the morning and upon returning they were not in the room or findable on his phone. There is a safe we found the evening before we left and it was a teachable moment for my son. What was hot, shower comfortable, bed was very firm and we turned off the heat to make it cool enough to sleep.
