Room was amazing much bigger than expected nice friendly staff would definitely stay here again

I was fortunate to occupy a car parking space, which important for my stay. I did not have breakfast, no further comment.

The room was cozy and warm with a large window and window seat. Premium toiletries, lotion, soap, shampoo and conditioner. Lovely updated bathroom. Steps from the bus line and many restaurants within 2 blocks. Staff was friendly and offered suggestions about where to eat and find live music. Safe neighborhood setting. Mother and daughter traveling together. Excellent coffee and very nice breakfast buffet.

Signal on TV was awful. Main radiator didn't work so we used the small portable radiator in the wardrobe. Room was very clean and comfy, staff courteous and knowledgeable re bus routes and timetables. Parking available on hotel front. Overall, a very enjoyable stay at a nice, intimate hotel.

The room 'Pleasance' was a good size. The bed was comfortable but the pillows very hard. The toilet was a bit ramshackle, and the fan very very loud even with the door closed, and went on for a very long time after switching off. The room was very warm, but there was no way of getting the window open, so became very stuffy

Staff were so helpful and friendly. Great location. Room was large and comfortable. Would definitely recommend.

We had an excellent overnight stay here in Sept 2022. As we were due to attend another concert at the Queen's Hall, we thought we would stay again. We subsequently booked a superior room for this occasion, in Oct 2025. We arrived mid-afternoon and were greeted by a charming person who was friendly, helpful but casually dressed, unlike the uniformed staff in other 4-star hotels. We were directed to our room, the Calton, in the basement. Initial impression was the room and bathroom were clean and tidy. My husband went to hang something in the wardrobe but it was full of heaters and electric fans. There was no room to hang clothes. We went out and didn't return until 10.30pm using the keycard to let us into the building as no staff are present after 8pm. As I pulled back the bedclothes, I noticed what I initially thought was a water mark on the sheet. On closer inspection the sheet was clean but the mark was on the mattress topper underneath. I did not investigate further at this point as it had been a long day so I covered the marked area with a pillow. In the morning, I investigated further, the mattress topper had a dried blood stain, dark red, purple colour, about 5 cm by 3 cm. I was horrified. I spoke to a different receptionist, told him of my disgust and that this was totally unacceptable in any hotel. He did not apologise on behalf of the hotel or in any way engage with the issue nor my concerns. He was less than interested. The stains were totally unacceptable and

The carpet in the hallways was very dirty, and there was mildew in the shower.

The room was clean, the staff were lovely and helpful and the location was great, it was about a 15 minute walk to the Royal Mile 👍

I had to arrive quite late and leave early. The reception sent me detailed instructions on how to proceed. My room was comfortable and clean.

Lovely and quiet property. Staff were really nice especially the female receptionist

Cute little boutique hotel with quick access to old town and Waverley Railway Station. Just what I needed for a quick 1 night stay. The reception was very helpful too!

Great one night stay in a spacious single. Lovely shower room with complimentary toiletries - including conditioner (always a winner with me). Friendly and helpful staff, great location with excellent public transport accessibility. Will happily use again when in Edinburgh

Checkin staff lovely Room was clean But the place is exhausted

We stayed here and used as our base for Kiltwalk2025. I have stayed here in 2023 and knew I’d be back again. Amazing room. Spot on. High ceilings and spacious rooms which we loved. Staff are lovely and full of knowledge. Beds are soooo comfy. Bathroom was huge. Will definitely be returning for a third time next time we are in Edinburgh!!

Had a good time here, staff cleaned room everyday. Cant complain about that. A room was comfortable but over crowded due to size. Easy to get ro town many options with buses and never had to wait long . I think a little more orientation of the place when checking in wouldheld didnt dind the garden untill ready to leave . Could use a safe in room do to being on ground level and window was broken. Good convenient place ro lay your head down . Thanks

Room was basically in the basement and not reflective of rooms in the photos. Desk wasnt manned so hard to get service.
