The Salisbury Hotel

Rooms very tired and in need of decorating which is something the hotel is meant to be undergoing. The room we booked was the superior one the tv did'nt work no live tv at all on it the wardrobe base was falling apart and curtains hanging off, you couldn't even open the sash window so no fresh air for the room but they do supply fan and two heaters big stain on the wall by the bed . The towel rail in the bathroom was dirty when wiped with tissue. Good points continental breakfast really nice and dining room clean and bright with great staff. The hotel was ideally situated for us as we was going to the queens hall with lots of places to eat just a few mins away and hotel had parking which was convenient. So in my opinion nice breakfast and staff but rooms tired and housekeeping and maintenance maybe needs looking at.

This was a great place to stay in a quiet area just a short walk through the meadows to the city center. I would definitely stay here again if I ever find myself back in Edinburgh!

Great location

Parking is limited it’s first come first served. Not sure about breakfast as we didn’t have breakfast there. You do have shampoo conditioner body wash included and you also get toothbrushes and toothpaste incase you have forgotten. Staff was lovely and friendly especially Aliseo. About 30 mins walk into the town center lovely place to stay where you won’t need to drive.

When we arived the staff where great helped with our bags, took us to our room showed us how to work everything,room was realy clean shower great tea coffee, on the next day they got us our taxi pluss you have a key card to get in at night, parking majic had there own, so no complains from us had a lovely time,

Very friendly and helpful staff. We had a lovely, quiet room overlooking the gardens, and a very comfortable bed so slept very well. Great location and would stay again.

Excellent room that was very clean, with very attentive and friendly staff.

There was mold in the shower. More maintenance is required.

Hotel a 20 minutos a pie del centro histórico y con varios buses a la vuelta de la esquina si no quieres caminar. Habitación suficientemente amplia y limpia. El baño también limpio pero demasiado pequeño. Personal amable en. recepción. Durante mis 2 noches de estancia no escuché ruido alguno

The room is awaiting refurbishment which I wasn't aware of until I spoke to reception about the shower which was overflowing into the sink/toilet area. However the receptionists were extremely helpful and friendly.

Room was amazing much bigger than expected nice friendly staff would definitely stay here again

I was fortunate to occupy a car parking space, which important for my stay. I did not have breakfast, no further comment.

The room was cozy and warm with a large window and window seat. Premium toiletries, lotion, soap, shampoo and conditioner. Lovely updated bathroom. Steps from the bus line and many restaurants within 2 blocks. Staff was friendly and offered suggestions about where to eat and find live music. Safe neighborhood setting. Mother and daughter traveling together. Excellent coffee and very nice breakfast buffet.

Signal on TV was awful. Main radiator didn't work so we used the small portable radiator in the wardrobe. Room was very clean and comfy, staff courteous and knowledgeable re bus routes and timetables. Parking available on hotel front. Overall, a very enjoyable stay at a nice, intimate hotel.

The room 'Pleasance' was a good size. The bed was comfortable but the pillows very hard. The toilet was a bit ramshackle, and the fan very very loud even with the door closed, and went on for a very long time after switching off. The room was very warm, but there was no way of getting the window open, so became very stuffy

Staff were so helpful and friendly. Great location. Room was large and comfortable. Would definitely recommend.

We had an excellent overnight stay here in Sept 2022. As we were due to attend another concert at the Queen's Hall, we thought we would stay again. We subsequently booked a superior room for this occasion, in Oct 2025. We arrived mid-afternoon and were greeted by a charming person who was friendly, helpful but casually dressed, unlike the uniformed staff in other 4-star hotels. We were directed to our room, the Calton, in the basement. Initial impression was the room and bathroom were clean and tidy. My husband went to hang something in the wardrobe but it was full of heaters and electric fans. There was no room to hang clothes. We went out and didn't return until 10.30pm using the keycard to let us into the building as no staff are present after 8pm. As I pulled back the bedclothes, I noticed what I initially thought was a water mark on the sheet. On closer inspection the sheet was clean but the mark was on the mattress topper underneath. I did not investigate further at this point as it had been a long day so I covered the marked area with a pillow. In the morning, I investigated further, the mattress topper had a dried blood stain, dark red, purple colour, about 5 cm by 3 cm. I was horrified. I spoke to a different receptionist, told him of my disgust and that this was totally unacceptable in any hotel. He did not apologise on behalf of the hotel or in any way engage with the issue nor my concerns. He was less than interested. The stains were totally unacceptable and
