Fontanella by BCN URBAN ROOMS

This is not a hotel because doesn't have the hotel accommodations. I don't recommend for elderly or families because it's a little bit tricky to get into your room. Also, the rooms are very small, isn't for big people, bathrooms are smalls. The cleaning is good.

There was this unpleasant sewage like odor in the hotel and in my room that I couldn’t wait to leave Barcelona. Also the fact that half of my stay the elevator wasn’t working and going up those flight of stairs was not easy.

I’d like to preface this review by saying that this booking was not our first choice and we only stayed here because our original listing canceled on us same day. However, it doesn’t change the fact we had a terrible experience here. When we arrived the proprietor acted like we were doing him a favor by staying there, didn’t make eye contact while speaking with me, and was very dismissive. The room was a shambles. Dirty, paint peeling, etc. The location was good as it was a block from the metro station and a gothic quarter. Near the end of our stay here, during one the housekeeping visits, someone splashed bleach onto my daughter’s dress and ruined it. I called the manager immediately and he said he would come look at it and never did. My wife also called him on the call box and he told her the same thing. It was a €20 dress and that’s all we were asking to be reimbursed. We never saw him again and I messaged him several times and he keeps asking me for my credit number to put the money back on the card. I honestly don’t feel comfortable giving that information out to him. So if anyone reads this don’t give these people your business if you can stay anywhere else.

The rooms vas very small but clean. The hotel is in good location.

It was in a walkable area and overall good stay.

The property was good, check-in was a little confusing, since there was no one in the reception and it was done through a camera and the guy told us the code to our room there, and it could be heard by anyone. The receptionist was somehow a little unpolite. The room was clean and it had AC.

I'm glad I read the reviews regarding the difficulty in finding the place as there is not a visible check-in desk from the front entrance. Yes, the elevator is small but not an issue for us. Two people at a time with luggage. If using the elevator, push the #3 button and take the elevator up. Step out of the elevator, go right and you will see the door with a sign and button on the wall. Push the button and the nice staff member will let you in. We really enjoyed staying at Fontanella by BCN URBAN ROOMS. The staff was very friendly and our room was available upon arrival. The room was clean with very comfortable beds. We wanted to stay in a hotel that was walking distance to everything we needed and this was perfect. Lively and lovely city of Barcelona. Thank you!

The room itself was clean and modern. The entrance to the build wasn't easy to fine and they are on the top floor so you must use the lift. The loft was tiny, old, and didn't lol very safe. There were no pictures of the lift before booking, I think they should mention this before booking as was misleading. The location was amazing, all in all it's not a bad place, but I personally wouldn't stay there again

Lovely room, a bit small but very functional with a great bathroom. Very thin walls so could hear people in other rooms which was disruptive

Great location, easy access despite late arrival. Some rooms close to reception can be noisy, but I had ear plugs so it was fine.

La ubicacion es excelente. Super centrico y cerca de todo. Los cuartos y baños son comodos. La entrada facil. El elevador es muy pequeño pero siempre esta vacio. Para resolver temas el tiempo de respuesta es poco lenta pero al final resuelven. Lo volveria a escoger.

We enjoyed our stay very much! It had every we needed for our 2 night stay. The staff were excellent! We would stay again :-)

This is not a hotel, doesn’t have a lobby. There is no one at the reception for most of the time. Rooms are very small and they smell really bad. There are at least 10 stairs before you get to the elevator. The elevator is too small to fit even a stroller.

We were travelling as a family of 3 (my sister and 9yr old son), as we were two women with a child and heard so much about pick pocketing in Barcelona, we didn’t want an apartment but an apart hotel so there was concierge. It was a bit tricky to find and it was the top floor of a building but there was a lift. The reception area was really clean and smelt really nice. We like the fact that everything was key codes so we didn’t have to worry about keys. In our room we had a large double bed and 2 single beds. The en suite was big and had a nice, large shower. The room was good size for 3 of us and had a safe and a fridge. We didn’t want all the frills of the hotel but this was perfect for a city break, we hardly spent much time in it as we were out early every morning and didn’t come back until late at night after dinner. The beds were comfy and the rooms were cleaned really well every day. Would definitely recommend for a city break as it’s right off the placa catalunya, the airport bus drops you off there and it’s a 5min walk to la rambles. Great transport links for the city buses, metro and tourist buses
