If you are looking for the best hostel in the center of Madrid, go to the Hostal Star Madrid. It offers the best quality of a clean room, comfortable bed, soft pillows, a powerful shower, and a strong WiFi connection. It offers great access to public transportation (trains and buses). It is only 300 meters from the Sol (Madrid's zero points) and surrounded by halal restaurants (Turkish and Moslem restaurants). Therefore, it is not a problem for Muslim people to get food there. The staffs are friendly and helpful. They can speak English well.

This hostal is in a great location! The staff were very kind. The noticed we were exhausted when we arrived and even though it was earlier, they prepared us a room right away.

Perfect location and was quiet! At least in the interior facing rooms I’d rather sleep well than have a view.
Rooms were spacious enough. Could have used a bathroom shelf and a couple more hooks.
Only problem was my second stay the room lacked blackout curtains so glad I had brought eye covers just in case

Location was great for sightseers apart from noisy street below bedroom.
Aircon was very noisy so sleeping was uncomfortable.
Initial room was terrible, very old damaged furnishings and flooring.
Changed next day but again room had very little hanging or drawer space so mainly only suitable for overnighting.
Second floor Reception alcove only opens 09.30 - 16.00.
Decorations very basic and no international TV stations
Its a basic-budget hostal 2☆ like many Hostal accommodation in same building and all around central Madrid

It was kinda confusing to figure out where to go when you first arrive. Place looks like an apartment building. After a lot of walking around and calling, I figured out that the reception is on the 2nd floor. They should tell you this information when you book. Besides that, the room was fine, nothing special. Location is great.

We have a home in Pamplona and stay in Madrid the night before heading back to Texas. We love the Plz Santa Ana, but recently it's mostly closed off to construction. Our favorite restaurant is down the street Prada a Tope. Great place. So we just need a bed and this works, but the price doubled in a year - so we may be looking for another place.

We only stayed one night here and it was perfect for that. The location was very good - lots of restaurants near and close to the metro. Check in and out was super easy. A little street noise in the middle of the night from a nearby bar but not terrible. My only very minor complaints were that the plugs were loose so my phone didn't charge, and the towels were like sandpaper! But seriously, the location and the room itself were exactly what we needed it to be.
