Hotel AR Roca Esmeralda & Spa

We stayed for 5 days as part of a longer trip. It's 3 star so didn't expect to much. The staff were a bit hit and miss. Some were brilliant others not helpful at all. The room was OK apart from the balcony. Which was more like a prison exercise yard. As it had 4 walls and no balcony. More like an enclosed terrace. Shame because being on the 9th floor the views would of been brilliant. The hotel mainly caters for Spanish. So being British we were low priority. That said the facilities were good with indoor and outdoor pools. And sauna and jacuzzi. Also the location was great right by Calpe beach. With loads of bars restaurants around. Also the hotel has a car park for €11 a day which if driving or hiring a car is handy. Overall it is a good hotel just for us personally the balcony and some staff. Made the stay less enjoyable. Oh and also the catering in the restaurant for breakfast was great. Even had proper UK sausages and hp sauce 😂👍

All the rooms on the 9th floor have no view

Beautiful hotel staff and facilities excellent great location 1 minute walk to beach 5 mins from shops and restaurants.

This was the third time we have stayed at the Esmeralda and for good reasons. Our room was spotlessly clean and done every day. The staff on reception were always courteous and helpful, particularly Alicia who helped us to do our Passenger Locator Forms and printed them. Breakfast and Dinner in the dining room had a very large choice of food and friendly staff too. We look forward to our next visit.

We had a lovely stay couldnt have asked for more

Location was ok. Reception insisted that I produce the reservation email. I said I have prepaid for the room, but they insisted. Room was outdated and not very clean. Not a special breakfast, lacks quality.

The hotel is very well situated, The staff although young aren't very service minded. The room was nice but it needs a touch of style. The brown 70's furniture is a no no! Horrible! Otherwise if you can breath in, it's just OK!!

We stayed at the Roca Esmeralda for two weeks and particularly asked for a room on the west side when we booked. The man on reception said they had not been informed of our request and allocated us a room on the east side, which I refused to accept. He then said that the hotel was full and no other rooms were available, but I refused to accept the allocated room. Then amazingly when he checked his computer, suddenly a room on the west side was available, and it was a nice room on the 8th floor with a small bedroom and separate lounge with settee and TV, and a double wardrobe in each room, plus a large terrace with sea view. The bathroom was spotlessly clean if a little outdated, but the shower and everything worked fine. The buffet breakfasts were fantastic with everything you could want, and dinner or lunch was similarly profuse with a huge choice of salads, hot food and desserts. The hotel is practically on the beach with a lovely long promenade and lots of shops and bars/restaurants. The hotel is really lovely and the staff are friendly and helpful. However, if you are a Corrie or Eastenders fan and cannot survive without your soaps, the Roca Esmeralda is NOT for you. as there are almost no British TV channels. Lots of channels in German but few Germans staying there, only one UK channel but lots of us Brits there. Work that one out!! We enquired at reception of the helpful English lady who promised to report the matter to the manager, but of course nothing happened.

They put us on 9th floor when we had requested 2nd or 3rd so had to move for 2nd night onwards. But they were extremely busy so accept they were trying to accommodate all customers' wishes. We have been staying at Esmeralda for many years but notice that some of the bedroom furniture is beginning to look tired and needs replacing. Other than that everything was fine - clean & tidy, friendly & helpful staff, good breakfast selection (can't speak for other meals as only there for b&b). We'll be back.

Situated on the Levante Beach promenade in Calpe, this hotel has a perfect location. Our room was comfortable and spacious with a nice sea and mountain view, and the good size balcony caught the afternoon sun. Strangely, there is only a reading light on one side of the bed! The bathroom was clean but very dated with a mushroom coloured suite, and as is usual in Spain, not enough lights. However it was spotlessly clean and maintained that way by the room maid, and the shower worked well with plenty of power. The toilet lid had a habit of detaching itself but the maid repaired it every time. Buffet breakfast in the large bright dining room was very comprehensive including a variety of cooked and cold food, with different breads for toasting and warm croissants. Dinner at night, also buffet, varied daily with always a choice of different meats and fish, plus soup and a huge selection of different salads. The desert selection was also quite large with about 10 different choices. A microwave oven is provided so you can have really hot food. Lunch can be taken instead of dinner if you book on a half board basis.

Very comfortable stay. Played at 2 nearby golf courses. weather was excellent for time of year, quite warm in afternoons. Food buffet was good.I came by car, and paid extra for private car-park No problems. Very close to beach.

Great location and the room was very clean and comfortable with a side sea view and spacious terrace . The food in the restaurant was basic but tasty and excellent value for money. We used tha spa and had two treatments and it was the best back and leg message we had ever had. We would definitely return to this hotel and certainly recommend to others.

Booked 2 rooms and specifically asked for 1 with shower, 1 with bath, which we were assured would be provided. Ended up with 2 disabled rooms, no bath in either. Hotel in general need of a facelift and refurbishment. Saving grace was quality and variety of food.

El hotel es cómodo y está muy bien situado. Mi recomendación es que lo reformen para actualizar sobre todo el mobiliario.
