More about hotels in Spain
Choose a city or island base in Spain
Where you stay in Spain should follow the kind of holiday you want. Madrid puts museums, historic squares and city dining at the centre of the visit. Barcelona combines architecture and urban outings with a Mediterranean setting. An island holiday adds a separate destination choice. Select those stops before comparing individual hotels.
Madrid and Barcelona offer different city stays
Madrid accommodation is a starting point for a trip built around the capital. The Prado, Reina Sofía and Thyssen museums give art lovers reasons to stay in the city, while its squares and neighbourhoods offer a wider urban itinerary. The Madrid region is broader than the city centre, so narrow your hotel location to the part you will actually visit.
Barcelona hotels suit a visit that brings together Gaudí architecture, the old town and the seafront. A city-centre stay and accommodation closer to the coast can place different parts of that itinerary first. Barcelona is one base within Catalonia; the wider region is a different search area.
Give an island stay its own place in the route
The Canary Islands are a separate island destination from mainland city stops. Choose the island and town before shortlisting hotels, rather than treating the archipelago as one resort area.
For a longer trip from the Philippines, divide your nights between the destinations you want to experience. Within each stop, compare the room arrangement, location and meal basis. This gives a clearer choice than searching for a single hotel to represent all of Spain.
