This was a neat place to stay in the heart of the old part of Stone Town. Quaint, but with modern amenities like AC. I had a private bathroom down the hall which was clean and not far. Older building with stairs but I enjoyed my stay and felt it was worth it for sure.

Basic continental breakfast with omelette served. Only coffee was good. had a horrible encounter from start where delayed by flight and got to hotel after 12pm (not hotels fault) but were given a small room with bathroom access outside by rude staff. I refused that room as I didn’t want a hostel style bathroom and later given another room with en suite. When I complained to manager next day she said we would not pay any additional services for which I was thankful. However on the day of check out I was told that I had to leave room by 10 am . I asked for late check out as I was still having breakfast at 9.35 (breakfast timing was till 10am) and staff kept coming to me during my breakfast that I would be paying extra if I overstayed. I went down to tell manager that I still needed to shower to which response was that I should have had breakfast earlier. She eventually agreed to 10.30 reluctantly and I was rushed to complete breakfast and leave room with my luggage downstairs. I had to spend an additional hour and half waiting for my driver which I called at 12 pm as above was unprecedented. During that time manager passed several times not asking once about our stay etc and instead came up to ask in an intimidating way about us still waiting in lobby. We felt totally unwelcome by that point. Other cons of hotel: no lift to carry luggage up many stairs, restaurant closes at 6 pm and no notice was given of operating hours, light in room above window, no hot water in shower etc

Staff exceedingly friendly and helpful. Night doorman concept annoying. Coffee shop concept can result in needing to wait for hotel service. Water is hot but pressure non existent - you can get more pressure pouring a water bottle on your body.

This place was fantastic! The staff was so friendly, caring, and accomodating. Both my daughters stayed there and were delighted that they received a free welcome drink from the cafe, which had excellent coffee and baked goods. They loved how the towels were made into animals and placed on their beds, along with welcoming words spelled out in coffee beans on the beds. The room was very clean and the beds were comfortable. The room and the hotel are beautifully decorated. We all loved the rooftop terrace and the wonderful, friendly women that served us. It was also an excellent value. My daughters felt very safe staying there. They would stay there again and recommend to others!

if you’re in Stone Town, this is definitely a great place to stay. Beach is nearby. Manager is amazing, he provided someone with an umbrella, let me borrow a charger adapter, gave me a map of the town, helped me get to the beach, offered complimentary drink & I was able to check in early. I loved it here so much. The rooftop was amazing, the food was excellent & the staff was friends. I felt safe here & very welcomed. Thank you for hosting me!

If you're the type of traveler who eats at McDonald's in other country's, then this property is probably not for you, but if you want to immerse in the local culture, its fantastic. Make sure you specify a bathroom in your room, unless you're ok with sharing, and make sure you arrange for a pickup at the airport for transportation to the hotel. The street is about 5 feet wide, and the van has to park a few blocks away. The area adjacent to the hotel is a lot like Marrakech, Morrocco with narrow streets and shops. The people are very friendly, and its safe, even though its very exotic. My Google maps worked well thank God to find our way around. The staff are very warm and friendly. We highly recommend this hotel. Andy H.
