I spent one night at Hotel Rivera and really enjoyed my stay. It's just a short walk away from the bus terminal and ferry station. The historic centre of the city is an easy ten minute walk away from the hotel. The hotel was very clean, staff were really friendly and the buffet breakfast was good. I would definitely stay again.

We had a great experience at this small hotel. The staff was wonderful. Location was fabulous. Everything was walking distance. We decided to have our own lunch at the patio and they set the tables for us! Kudos for this hotel!!

This is a good choice for travellers as it’s clean, quiet and comfortable and close to the bus and ferry terminals and with in easy walking distance for sightseeing. Rooms are not large, but they are comfortable. Wifi is good and the breakfast, though not extensive, is enjoyable. The owners and staff obviously take pride the their establishment.

When we first checked in they didnt have our reservation. Something they have to fix with Hotels.com we had to stay on the phone with Hotels.com for 30 minutes to fix this. In the end I have to say it an OK stay. But the host was amazing.

We visited CdS for one night and really loved the town. The hotel is in a great location, just off the ferry, so very easy to access. It's a brief walk in the historic area and all the restaurants and waters edge. The hotel staff were very welcoming and even setup our breakfast in front of our room so we could enjoy the lovely sun. Recommended.

Most of the staff was great. The service, at breakfast for example, was excellent. One man working the overnight shift was extremely rude like I've never experienced before. It was almost as if I were the receptionist and he the patron; and an extremely dissatisfied patron at that. Which was a shame because were it not for him I'd be giving the staff and hotel service a five star rating. Everyone other than he, was great.

We spent a night in the hotel, 3 couples in 3 different rooms. The hotel was comfortable and silent by night. The location is very good some steps from the bus terminal and the port, and 7 minutes walk to the "Barrio Historico". In spite of some comments I have read, the bathroom was equiped with shampoo (and soap and towels, of course). The breakfast was good The price was according to the hotel

Hotel Rivera is two blocks from the bus station, so it's very convenient if you're taking a bus into Colonia from Montevideo. The hotel is small and the room itself is no bigger than a hotel room in NYC. In short, it's small: bed, TV, closet, bathroom. If you're looking to spend a lot of time in the hotel room, this is not the place for you. However, Hotel Rivera is a short walk from historic district and the water. The sunset was beautiful. If you're staying in Colonia for one night and just want to drop your bags and explore, this hotel does the trick. They also serve breakfast in the morning which was a nice perk. I had no problem paying with a credit card, there were no additional fees. My only concern was that you have to leave your room key at the front desk when you leave, so hypothetically the hotel staff could come into your room at anytime (although that didn't happen to us).

It was a little disapointing. The price of the hotel and the quality of the rooms do not match. The rooms need updating. The shower head was leaking pretty bad. Upon check-in the front desk wanted to charge us 13% extra since we were paying with credit card. At the end she did not charge us but still was not a pleasant experience. The breakfast was nice. They set us up in the courtyard with coffee, juice and some pastries. The service during the breakfast was great.
