The hotel is near the ferry terminal so it's quite cool at night, convenient location for moving to other places in the city. The room is clean, but the furniture is a bit old, not very fragrant. The receptionist and parking attendant are quick, polite, and cute. Overall, it's okay :d

I booked a room with river view quite airy, the room is fully equipped and extremely clean. The big plus is that the shampoo and shower gel is extremely fragrant, not the kind that the hotel usually keeps, and there is a shower cap suitable for girls who like to make their hair like me. The elevator is luxurious, clean and safe. The reception is polite and professional, always fresh. Below is the park next to the riverbank, full of snacks. I am giddy, so I did not take pictures of the hotel, but recommend everyone traveling to book rooms here. Great experience in Tien Giang during Tet but the service is too okie. And there is water in the refrigerator and HSD and price are not expensive, even though it's Tet.

Our group had a short but comfortable vacation. The hosts were considerate, preparing 3 rooms next to each other for our group without extra charge, even though one room was a VIP room. The room was cool and clean. The garden had lots of green trees. The road only had lights at night, only near the homestay, but in return, the scenery was very airy and peaceful. The homestay's Banana Leaf Restaurant cooked very delicious food, everyone remember to try the duck cooked with fermented bean curd.

Ward 1: A Gateway to Vietnam's Mekong Delta Charm

For international travellers seeking an authentic slice of Vietnam beyond the well-trodden paths, Ward 1 in My Tho offers a compelling introduction to the country's vibrant Mekong Delta. This region, often overlooked in favour of larger metropolises, presents a unique blend of bustling local life, serene waterways, and accessible cultural experiences. Ward 1 serves as a crucial hub within My Tho, providing a tangible connection to the delta's agricultural heartland and its distinctive way of life. It's a place where the pace slows just enough for visitors to appreciate the intricate details of daily routines, from the morning markets to the gentle flow of the Mekong River.

The appeal of Ward 1 lies in its multifaceted character, a microcosm of the broader Mekong Delta experience. While Ward 1 itself is a central point, exploring its surrounding areas like Ward 4, Dao Thanh, Thoi Son, Ward 6, Ward 10, My Phong, and the broader My Tho city reveals a diverse tapestry of landscapes and atmospheres. From the commercial buzz of central Ward 1 to the tranquil agricultural expanses of Thoi Son or the riverside charm of Dao Thanh, each locale offers a distinct flavour. This area can be appealing to travellers looking for a more contemporary feel within the city, potentially with newer developments and a growing number of businesses. It's polite to use your right hand when giving or receiving items, and to avoid pointing your feet directly at people, as this is considered disrespectful. When visiting temples or pagodas, dress modestly, covering your shoulders and knees. While tourist-facing areas are generally accustomed to international visitors, dressing respectfully in more local neighbourhoods will be appreciated. A friendly smile and a polite "Xin chào" (hello) go a long way in fostering positive interactions.

At local landmarks such as CGV Vincom Mỹ Tho or VNPT-VinaPhone Tiền Giang, general respect for public spaces applies. For the cinema, follow standard etiquette regarding noise levels and phone usage during screenings. For telecommunications hubs or offices, maintain a professional demeanor if you need to interact. Photography is usually permitted in public areas, but it's always courteous to ask permission before taking close-up photos of individuals, especially in more traditional settings or markets. Queueing is generally orderly, but patience is always a virtue when navigating busy areas.

Practical safety in Ward 1 is largely about common sense. Keep your valuables secure and be aware of your surroundings, particularly in crowded markets or on busy streets, to avoid petty theft. For transportation, reputable taxi companies and ride-hailing apps like Grab are widely available and offer a safe and convenient way to get around My Tho. It's advisable to agree on a fare beforehand if using a non-metered taxi or to ensure the meter is used. Walking in well-lit areas at night is generally safe, but it's always wise to stick to main roads.

In case of emergencies, the local police number is typically 113. For medical assistance, dial 115 for an ambulance. While there might not be a dedicated tourist police force in Ward 1, local authorities are generally helpful. For Filipino travellers, the Philippine Embassy in Vietnam is located in Hanoi, and it's advisable to have their contact details handy. For health, ensure you have adequate travel insurance and consider any necessary vaccinations. Staying hydrated, especially in the tropical climate, is also crucial for well-being.

Navigating Ward 1: Your Essential Travel Guide

Ward 1, situated in the heart of My Tho, serves as an excellent entry point to the vibrant Mekong Delta for international travellers. Understanding how to reach this region and navigate within it is key to a seamless journey. This guide provides practical information for travellers from the Philippines, covering flights, local transport, the best times to visit, and essential pre-departure preparations.

Reaching Ward 1 from the Philippines typically involves flying into Vietnam's major international airports, most commonly Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN) in Ho Chi Minh City, as there are no direct international flights to My Tho. Flights from Manila (MNL), Cebu (CEB), or other Philippine hubs to SGN usually involve one stop, with total travel time ranging from 6 to 10 hours depending on the layover. Airlines like Vietnam Airlines, Philippine Airlines, and budget carriers often service this route. From Ho Chi Minh City, Ward 1 in My Tho is approximately a 2-hour bus or car journey. For those ready to plan, you can book flight tickets to SGN well in advance for better rates.

Once you arrive in My Tho, getting around Ward 1 and its surrounding areas is relatively straightforward. Taxis and ride-hailing services like Grab are readily available and are the most convenient options for travellers. For shorter distances within Ward 1 or to nearby districts, motorbike taxis (xe ôm) offer a quick and affordable way to travel, though they are best suited for solo travellers. Local buses connect different parts of My Tho and can be used to reach more distant attractions, offering a very economical way to see the region, though they can be crowded and follow fixed routes.

The best time to visit Ward 1 and the Mekong Delta region is generally during the dry season, which runs from December to April. During these months, the weather is typically sunny and pleasant, with lower humidity, making it ideal for exploring outdoor attractions and taking boat trips. While the wet season (May to November) brings lush greenery and fewer crowds, it also means higher humidity and the possibility of heavy rainfall, which can occasionally disrupt travel plans. Hotel prices might be slightly higher during the peak dry season.

Before departing for Ward 1, ensure you have a few essentials sorted. The local currency is the Vietnamese Dong (VND), but US Dollars are widely accepted in tourist areas, and it's useful to have some VND for smaller purchases and local markets. You can exchange currency at the airport or in My Tho. Purchasing a local SIM card at the airport upon arrival is recommended for easy data access, enabling the use of navigation and ride-hailing apps. Essential apps include Google Maps, a translation app, and Grab. Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your intended stay.

Visa Information for Entering Vietnam to Visit Ward 1

For Philippine passport holders planning a trip to Ward 1 in Vietnam, understanding the visa requirements is a crucial step in the travel planning process. Vietnam has specific entry regulations that vary by nationality, and it's essential to be well-informed to ensure a smooth journey. This section outlines the visa policies relevant to Filipino travellers heading to Vietnam.

Philippine passport holders currently enjoy visa-free entry into Vietnam for short stays. This means that for tourism purposes, Filipino citizens can enter Vietnam for a specified period, typically up to 30 days, without needing to apply for a visa in advance. This visa exemption simplifies travel significantly for those looking to visit destinations like Ward 1. It is imperative, however, to ensure your passport has at least six months of validity remaining from your date of entry and that you possess proof of onward travel, such as a return or onward flight ticket, as immigration officials may request this.

While the visa exemption is a significant convenience, it's always recommended to verify the latest regulations with the official Vietnamese immigration authorities or the Embassy of Vietnam in the Philippines before your travel dates, as policies can change. The typical length of stay allowed under the visa exemption is 30 days, and extensions may not be straightforward. If your intended stay exceeds this period, or if you are travelling for purposes other than tourism, you will need to apply for the appropriate visa through the Vietnamese embassy or consulate.

It is also important for travellers to be aware of any advisories issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) of the Philippines regarding travel to Vietnam. While Vietnam is generally considered safe for tourists, staying informed about any travel advisories is always prudent. Confirming your entry status and the exact duration of stay permitted under the visa exemption before booking your book flight is a recommended practice to avoid any last-minute complications at immigration.
